EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER
My Uncle....A little off the wedding subject...
So I am excited to tell everyone that my uncle from Fargo ND, is going to be on the Extreme Home Makeover 2hr season finale this Sunday. This is going to be his 2nd episode he has helped on, but the first I have gotten to see. The Extreme Home Makeover team will be in New Orleans. My uncle (Bob) will be running the flooring crew. I believe they are doing a church and a home.

Im so proud of him donating his time and experience in such a great project.

~ I just wanted to share! :-) I hope you all have a great day!!

TRASH THE DRESS.....
How many of you have heard of this new fad? What are your thoughts?
Are any of you considering "Trashing your dress" once the wedding is
all over? Or, do you think it's just plain nuts? I mean, come on....you go
and spend hundreds, or even thousands of dollars on a dress....and
then go and destroy it???

Well....I, myself am considering it.
The symbolism of it, they say is that you are showing your husband
that this was your one and only time that you will ever get married,
and that you will need to wear a wedding dress again.
The first time I heard of it was at a bridal show I attended earlier this
year. At first I thougth, you've got to be kidding- someone would have
to be crazy, stupid or both to do that!
However.....after thinking about it, I decided I would have a hella Great time
doing the photoshoot.
The photographer we are using is one that I have used several times
for my modeling portfolio. He is a lot of fun, and I know he will have a
blast shooting it with me. Plus, what else am I going to do with the
dress after the wedding??
Unfortunately, I know I will never be able to have a daughter to pass the
dress down to, so no one else will ever wear it. So, why shouldn't I
have a great time in it, twice!?
I plan on having mine cleaned, and keeping it afterward....so either way,
it's just going to hang in the closet! Only then I'll have an extra story to tell
about my dress!

This, so far is my favorite. I would have them on a mirror to reflect light, as well as have small candles all around it.
These really match the bouquet that I like so well!
The bouqet I like, with a little tweeking.
Love the jewels inside the flower!
Flowers
Here are some of my flower ideas!
Ok, so I know I want both flowers and candles. I want the
room to be very romantic. So this first picture really
has the feel Im going for, without breaking the budget.
I figure once I add the mirror or mirrors underneath,
use lighter colored flowers, and flower petals and
lots of small candles around it...It should give it more
of the feel Im going for.

Ring bears....Our boys
Alright. I just have to say how much I LOVE this website. It is helping me out SOO much! I haven't even had time to get all of my ideas on here yet. You girls are so awesome. I love being able to help other brides, and receive help as well....its great!

SO, that being said......here is my next issue. Our boys. My son is currently 8ys old. He has been wanting to be my ring bear ever since the 1st wedding he was asked to be in. (I think he's been in like 3 at least!) Jeremy has 2 sons also. Current ages 6 and 10. Our boys will be 7,9, and a month from 12 when we get married. I want all of them in the wedding. Where do I put them though?? 3 Ring bears is a little much. And at 12....Skyler, Jeremy's oldest will be a tad to old for that anyway.

What are your ideas on this???

I like this idea of having the monogram on the table skirt. I love the set up with the round tables on each side of the center table.

The Proposal
It was Friday, two days before our one year anniversary. We had discussed going out to eat at a beautiful restaurant here in Burlington, called Martini's. This restaurant is near the river, located on the 4th floor of the building, and has a beautiful panoramic view of the river and our Mississippi River Bridge. Our anniversary was on that Sunday. Since the restaurant is not open on Sundays, I suggested that we go Saturday evening. In the mean time, I had also been searching for something new to wear, but was having a difficult time as our mall doesn’t have a whole lot to offer.
I suspected that Jeremy would be proposing soon. We had talked about marriage and had briefly looked at rings. I suspected that if he was going to do it, it would be on our anniversary or near it. In fact I had been telling my best friend that exact thought. On Friday I called her to ask her if she would be in town that weekend. I was hoping that if he did pop the question that she would be in town to celebrate with us. She informed me that she would be busy that weekend, so I was already greatly disappointed!
That Friday, I went to work as usual. Around 4 PM I received flowers with a little card attached. The card read “Change of plans. Dinner tonight at 7pm, I will pick you up.” He followed that up with a text message that stated that his sister was in the hospital about to deliver her baby. He wanted to go to dinner tonight, incase they would induce her the next day.
I went home after work to get ready. When I walked in the door, there was a note on the counter that said he had a gift lying on the bed. He had bought me a couple of beautiful shirts at one of my favorite stores. They were elegantly wrapped in my favorite color paper, pink.
He picked me up, as promised and we headed for dinner. He ordered a bottle of wine and we had a nice meal. After desert the waitress asked if we would like to go on a tour of the Food Guru’s (the chef) gallery. I have to laugh now, because when she asked me that I almost said no. I really didn’t care to see it. However, we followed her through the restaurant down a hallway to a door where she stopped, and informed us that the kitchen had paged her. She told us to go on in, and she’d meet back with us in just a moment.
Jeremy opened the door. The small dark room seemed to be a wine tasting room with about 5 high top tables and the same amazing panoramic view of the bridge. It was lit by several candles on each table. There were pink and white flower petals and long stem roses on each of the tables, as well as lining the windows. I noticed one red rose in a vase on the window ledge. Believe it or not, I didn’t even realize what was happening. Even though I had been expecting it all along, after dinner was over I just assumed he wouldn’t be doing it at the restaurant. Maybe not even that night at all. He took me by the hand and walked me over to the window and started telling me how happy he was to have me in his life. (Now I was starting to catch on!) I looked around and noticed he even had a video camera set up in the corner.
He got down on one knee and handed me the red rose and asked me to marry him. I looked down and there was my ring, in the flower!
He did such a wonderful job decorating the room. It was the most romantic thing I have ever seen!
After he proposed and we finished gathering the flowers, we decided to go out and celebrate a little. Little did I know, he had already called several of my friends, and they were already waiting for us (including the one that was “busy”)! It was a great night. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I can’t tell you how excited and luck I am to have such a wonderful man in my life!

Ring
<---------- This is my engagement ring
I absolutely love, love, love my ring! The picture doesn't even do it justice. It has diamonds on each side, as you can see...but it also has diamonds all around the rest of it too. There are diamonds at every angle you look at it! You dont even see the metal of the band! We went ring searching together, and the moment I saw this ring....I almost cried! I instantly knew. I could actually picture our wedding pictures when we did the hand/ring pose! This is going to be my one piece of jewelery I will never get tired of looking at! :0)

Wedding band
How many of you are NOT wearing the extra wedding band? What are your thoughts on this?

I have not had a chance to upload a picture of my beautiful engagement ring yet, but without making a custom band for it I wont beable to wear one with my ring. I have diamonds on all sides of my ring. It is a vintage style, with a raised square setting. The way that it is shaped, a band could not lay flat against it. And, honestly Im afraid even if I had one made, it may take away from it.
So, my question is....do I really need an extra band? What are your opinions?

36 inch sparklers
I have been looking for ideas to tie in our wedding date (July 4th) with my pink, silver and white wedding. I had thought of the idea of using sparklers instead of the traditional bubbles or rice. However, when I came across this site and found these 36 inch sparklers which burn 4 minutes, I knew it was perfect for our wedding. :0)
While I was searching this website, I found the second picture and thought it'd be a great idea for a photo!

So, as long as I can keep from going up in flames.....what do you guys think of the idea?

Do you have any other ideas to incorporate the 4th of July into our theme? We are having an indoor wedding and reception...so any other fireworks probably would not work out.

I LOVE the design idea of this bouquet! I think in addition to the pink tipped roses, I will add a couple pink roses in there as well to give it just a tad more color. I think I will also add diamond accent gems to the calla lillies. Then wrap the stems in silver ribbon.

~ after going back to the site I found this on, I am thinking of changing the color up. I like the idea of the rose and calla lillies together in that form....but Im going to have to work on the color of the flowers. I still want it pink and white....but I want it to pop a lot more than it does right now.

I need help with classy 4th of July decor ideas!!
Hi brides to be!
Im looking for ideas to incorporate my wedding colors: pink, silver and pearl /white- and our holiday wedding day-the 4th of July (2009) together. We are having a church wedding and an indoor reception.

Does anyone have any classy decor ideas?

One idea I did have was to do sparklers (in clear distance of the dress of course!) instead of bubbles or rice.
