Are there any North Dakota brides on here? (NWR)
I just have to say, my heart really goes out to all of those people in Fargo ND. For those of you that don't know what is going on there....it is just terrible. After experiencing the Midwest floods this past summer here in Iowa, I didn't think it got much worse...however now watching what is happening there, I have to think we should be thankful we didn't have to face some of the things that they are.... They have schools, colleges, and business closed just so that people can help sand bag. They have made millions (literally) of sandbags. They are closing streets, and giving police escorts to the trucks hauling the sandbags to get them where they need to go faster. The problem is this....not only is it flooding, (flood stage is 18 ft, the river is up to over 41 ft) but they are also having storms in the middle of it. One day, a blizzard, the next rain. Then to make matters worse, the rivers are forming ice damns from the temperatures being so cold. So, they are having to blow them up with explosives so that the water doesn't get backed up even more. Plus, the sand bags are not laying the way they are supposed to because they are freezing. Normally they would form to one another, helping to keep a seal. And now, that the waters are finally starting to fall (slowly) they are facing another blizzard. I have to say, after living in Fargo for a couple of years back in my high school days, I really have a soft spot in my heart for the town. It is a beautiful, amazing place to be. ( I just wish it wasn't so cold there!) I just thank God that my friends and family that still live there are safe, but I pray for those that are not. |

My Wedding Survey
Thought I would do one, and join the crowd...
How long did you date before you got engaged? 2 days short of one year Did you get the ring you wanted? Yes Was the proposal a complete surprise? Actually, it was. I thought he was going to do it during dinner. When we were done eating and he still hadn't done it, I forgot about. Little did I know, he was planning it for on the way out.... :0) Do you wish you had a bigger/smaller diamond? If so How big or small? NO, it is perfect. Did you cry when he proposed? no, I was in shock Was the proposal romantic or creative? Explain how if you'd like. Both! He had pink and white long stem roses, hundreds of flower petals, and candles everywhere, set up in a private room of the resturant. The resturant has full wall length windows, showing the night time view of our lit up bridge and river. The window sills were lined with candles and flower petals, and there on the windowsill was one single red rose that he had put my ring in the bud of. He even had a video camera in the corner! Where do you want to go for your honeymoon? Undecided still....possible Costa Rica Are you buying his wedding band for him? yes Have you gone over your original wedding budget? yes...it isn't easy to stick to a budget! LOL What day of the year will your wedding be? Saturday, July 4th, 2009 What kind of weather? Summer Inside or outside? Inside Church/justice of the peace/other? Church How many people will be there? 250+ Time of day? evening Any kind of theme? Romantic and lots of fun. OUr colors are pink, silver, white How many bridesmaids? Who would they be? 6 - My best friend Sara is the MOH, my friend Julie from ND, my friends Trisha and Teresa from here, and my 2 sisters. What kind of cake/what will it look like? 4 tier square white, silver and pink cake. Where will you have the reception? In town about 20 min away that has a beautiful hall What kind of dress will you have/color/material? A beautiful white mermaid gown, with great detail to beading. (AND I'M PICKING IT UP THIS WEEKEND!! YAYYYY!) What kind of flowers in your bouquet? roses, lilies, orchards Kind of engagement ring? The main diamond is princess cut, white gold, verrry sprakly! Kind of wedding bands? I wont beable to wear one due to the design of my ring, his is undecided How will you wear your hair? half back and curly Who will be important to be there? Everyone Will the reception be big or small? big What will the groom wear? Black tux, silver vest, pink tie---HOT! Where will you go for the honeymoon? Wedding Dress
MY DRESS IS IN!!!!!!!!! :0) YAY!!!!!!
So, I can't go see it and try it on until next weekend. It is driving me crazy! I want to see it now! I bought it in St Louis, MO which is about 4 hours from me.....so the bridesmaids and I are planning a weekend trip next weeekend. :0)
I can't wait to see it, since the one I tried on in the store was a size 14 (I ordered a 6) and it was ivory, I ordered white. It's going to look totaly different than the first time I saw it. |

What to do with myself for 5 whole days???
My son is on spring break this week....so he is in Minnesota visiting his dad, and wouldn't you know it....my honey had to go out of town the same week for work.
My house is so quiet! :0( I miss my guys! I am going to have one day of pampering while everyone is gone though...facial and pedicure are calling my name on Thursday. I can't wait. You girls will probably be seeing a lot of me the next few days..... :0) |

Flower girl dresses....
I have two flower girls.,and I found this dress that I really like.
However, I have 2 questions. One, do you think it goes with my dress? Secondly, should I do one girl with grey coloring, and one in pink or both pink? I love the color of the pink in the picture, and since all the bridesmaids are wearing grey dresses, I thought I needed to throw some color in....but should the girls have identical gowns on? Would that be cute, or weird? |

Invitations...Where did you get yours? And...where can you find nice, but inexpensive invites??
Ok girls....I am at 123 days until the wedding. That is 4 months, 2 days away. I can not tell you how bad I am stressing. We have had some issues with our budget....and are behind on a lot of our planning. I am now trying to rush to find some nice invitations. I like the pocket folder ones...but holy crap! I am looking at approx $600 for 225-250 invites. That isn't including the postage, or the response cards etc.
Do you know of a reliable place I can order nice invitations that aren't way expensive?? Please help! I am getting desperate! lol |

I think I have finally found my bridesmaids dress....what do you think?
So, the search for the perfect bridesmaid dress has proved to be almost as difficult as finding my bridal dress. lol
Last weekend a few of my girls and I went to try to pick out a dress. The store clerk wasn't of much help. The one worry I have is that the sample that she showed us that was supposed to be 'platinum' looked more baby blue....it wasn't even the same fabric. She insisted that all the fabrics look the same. When I go on the website though, it defiantly looks platinum to me, so I ordered a swatch just to know for sure before we order. Do you girls like the dress? It is a full-length v-neck Chiffon gown w/ empire waist. Rhinestone pave buttons at back waist. Matte Satin Bodice. I wish the website would allow me to save a picture of the back, it is so pretty. |
