DIY Wedding
Time is running out...
I can't believe we have less than two weeks before the wedding! I finally finished with work (I'm a teacher) so I can devote my time to getting everything done.
Here are a few things I got done today :) BM gifts: bridesmaid/maid of honor tanks from Michaels (got them on clearance for under $5). -Coach make-up bags (from the Coach outlet) ($28 each) - bridesmaid survival kits/ I got the image from a WBC bride and used a ziploc. I'm putting the kits inside the damask mini tote from Michaels ($1). - Wrapped it all in the damask wrapping paper from the Target $1 bins! Day of Itinerary: -Got the template from a WBC bride and switched the info & some photos so it fit our day & theme. Made one for each BM & GM, printed them on cardstock & put them with their presents. Tears of Joy Cards: Printed them on 81/2 x 11 cardstock, cut them in half and made two slits. Folded up some kleenex & added some bling :) Flip Flop Basket: Purchased flip flops from Hobby Lobby for $1, added ribbon & tag that's stamped & I wrote the sizes of each flip flop. This is only some of them, I ran out of ribbon.... GM Gifts: We found DOP kits at the Perry Ellis outlet (under $20). They're also getting a large beer mug & socks that say groomsmen on them (oriental trading company). I'm excited to have things getting finished up! |

Ask a Question
Order of Bridesmaids
We're in the final planning stages. How will your BM's be walking down the isle?
We have 8, plus 2 flower girls & 2 ring bearers. I don't know if I want them to come down individually or paired up. I know I want the 2 little ones paired up, either with each other or boy/girl. I figure whatever they're more willing to do, we'll do. How did you decide? We're not making them pair up with a groomsmen as I've always found it awkward when put in that position. But, not sure what else to do. |

Wedding Invitation
Finally sent them out!
Today is the 6 week mark, guests should be recieving their invites in their mailboxes today! Yay!
Unpredictable bride created them for us & we printed them at Staples. Printing them was a much larger (& annoying) task as I had planned. If you plan on DIY your invites, keep a few things in mind... - Know your exact dimensions if someone is designing them for you (Unpredicatable bride was GREAT throughout the process). - Pay attention to the cost for postage AND what's available. We chose to use a postcard for our RSVP cards. BUT, didn't realize that the only 28 cent stamp available from USPS is a polar bear!!!!! I refused to use a polar bear stamp for a June wedding so we ended up using the 44 cent wedding bands instead---total waste of money!!! But ordering from zazzle would have taken too long & cost even more. Plus, we used customized stamps for our STD's. - we ordered our pocket folds from paperandmore.com they had SUPER fast shipping and great prices. *Now let's hope people start sending in the RSVPS =] ! |

Wedding Website
Personalized Site
Just realized that I never posted about the wedding website we finished. It's hosted through www.wedquarters.com. We paid for it to be live for a year for $40. It's a really great way to get info out to people without having to send a million emails.
It also allows you to track RSVP's. My family isn't quite at the point were I can send my wedding invites out w/o an old school paper RSVP card to return but it's working really well for the bridal shower. On the shower invite it said to RSVP to either my mom's cell # or on our wedding website. LOTS of people have used the website. Wedquarters is super user friendly, they're are different $ options, we went with the most expensive so we have all the options, that way we were able to choose our super easy to remember domain name. www.SophiaandElliott.com |

Wedding Invitation
Thanks to Unpredictable Bride (printablebride.com)
Our wedding invites are almost complete!!!!
We are SOOO greatful for Unpredictable's help with the design of our invites. She designed a ceremony card, recpetion card, directions card, and a postcard we're using for RSVP's. Oh yeah, can't forget about the awesome sign she desinged to match our invites that we're going to display in the foyer of the building! She was so great to work with, if you're looking for someone completely affordable with great ideas, visit her website : printablebride.com She even recommended that we use Staples when printing them & new the actual prices! I'm going to be taking them to get printed next week. They'll be assembled to black cardstock & mailed out soon. I'll post a pic once they're completed. |

It's time to get serious!
Less than 3 months to go...
We've been engaged for over a year & 1/2. For so long I felt like there wasn't much I could do because we don't have a lot of space to store items for the wedding. I'm also a high school coach, so I've been waiting for my second straight season to end. IT FINALLY HAS!
So, now I get to really focus on getting things done for the wedding. I'm so excited! I recently purchased my shoes-- I LOVE THEM! They're fushia, comfortable, & adorable....oh, & I can't forget were only $25. Next week I'm off for spring break I plan to: - meet my wedding planner at our venue. She hasn't seen it yet, I want to make sure she's familiar with it & knows exactly what my vision is - check out 2 local salons near my venue. I haven't booked my hair & makeup yet, that needs to get done ASAP! - meet my seamstress & get started on fittings for BOTH my wedding dresses. - go through all the boxes (10 of them) of wedding items I've purchased over the past year that I've been storing at my moms. Wish me luck :) |

Wedding Gift Registry
Honeymoon Registry
We booked our honeymoon in Ocho Rios Jamaica! It's a Sandals ALL-INCLUSIVE resort. We can't wait!!!!
Our travel agent told us about a honeymoon registry option. I signed us up. It's simple, you can register for gift cards or things you would like to do. For example, couples massages, snorkling, swimming with the dolphins etc. **the really cool thing is that you can actually request the funds whenever you want. So you don' t necessarily have to use them for those activities. BUT--my mom thinks it's tacky. What do you guys think? We registered at Bed, Bath, & Beyond (the usual) but we've lived together for over 3 years. We have most of what we need. Advice? Recommendations? |

Bridal Shower
My mom booked the bridal shower venue! I'm so excited!
We're having it at the Parthenon restaurant in Greektown Chicago. My father was from Greece, since he's past I've lost touch with a lot of my "Greek" roots. I think having the shower in Greektown is a great way to honor and remember him! **Sent out the invites for the shower! I purchased 3 (25) packs of damask wedding invites last year from Target on clearence for less than $7 each. I knew I would need more invites than that for the wedding, so I planned on having my mom use them for the shower. After spending 3 hours trying to figure out how to download a cute font & set up the right template I realized my stupid printer wouldn't accept the precut paper that came with the invites! SO FRUSTRATING. I ended up having them printed at Staples. Staples was a life saver, I printed them on cream cardstock, added a mini card with our registry invitation, and cut to size for about $10. Best part was, they were finished in less than 10 minutes! I totally recommend Staples for any printing needs. ***The bridal shower was great! My mom & family set up the room beautifully! It was perfect...until we started to smell gas! There was a leak, we had to move to another room :( . The time & effort spent on setting up the initial room wasn't available for the second, we had to move everything quickly---which meant the set up wasn't exactly how it was planned, but still beautiful! The food was amazing--altho it was a little frightening to watch 25 order of saganaki go up in flames in a building with a gas leak, but it was worth it! |

The dress is an Alfred Angelo. I purchased it at a sample sale and I will not be wearing it.
It has all the tags & extra buttons and such. It's never been warn, but because it was a sample it needs to be dry cleaned. Take a look at the pictures, if you're interested let me know. |
