Most of our guests are traveling from out of town. I mean Sparky's family is local but alot of his friends live at least an hour away and all of my friends and family are coming from at least six hours away.
Sooooo... the Friday night before or Saturday wedding has to be hosted right? I don't dare leave my dearest friends and family to fend for themselves in the mostly desolate area we live in.
What to do to feed a large number of people? And not blow a ton of cash? The Mr has already volunteered to cook but... Where to do it? How to transition from the actual rehearsal?
And really...who should be at the actual rehearsal?
Is it proper to ask my father's parents to come even tho there's no unity ceremony or anything of the like just because they're in town? I would kind of want it to be a surprise for them...
The plan is to have rooms available for discount right at the resort/country club we're having the reception at... on top of the block of room the Mr and I and the bridal parties will be renting So that's where we assume most of our out of town guests will stay that Friday night.
There's no way to do the rehearsal there too. It's just too expensive.
But what if we do decide to get married right there on the grounds at the resort? Is it totally tacky to do our ceremony rehearsal and then leave for the food?
And we should invite everyone who's in town to come eat right? I mean it's just tasteless not to I think.
Hmmmmmm...
We'd probably try to do the rehearsal early, like 3? So that way we can get cooking and what not by like 4:30.
Then I can and who ever else wants to can leave whenever. If people want to stay and party they'd be welcome to till the park closed at sunset (around 9 in the summer round here) and there'd be playground equipment for the kids.
Is that tacky?
Of course we'd be at the whims of the weather...But if we really wanted to, we could rent a hall. The fire halls around here are abundant and cheap. And most of them have bbq pits or grills and full kitchens.
Again I'm thinking BBQ type food...I don't think anyone would object to that, do you?
