first off, happy new years ladies! I hope that everyone has had a nice and relaxing holidays.
it's 2010, which means its OUR year! I can't believe how quickly the planning process is going! Before I know it, I'll be a Mrs!
With less than six months to go, my wedding party is starting to plan our Buck and Doe. For those who are not familiar with them, it's a big wedding pre-party that the wedding party puts on. Tickets are usually sold for 10.00 each.. people show up the day of, with lots of games, drinking, dancing and prizes! It may seem strange to some people, but they are HUGE in southern ontario.. in fact, I think MOST people have them. They are ALOT of fun and really help raise money for wedding costs.
Anyways, ours is in March.. and there's ALOT of things that needs to be done. I'm suppose to "sit back".. but I want to help.. so I've been browsing the internet for fundraising games.
This is what I've come up with:
Toonie Toss- Take a Texas Mickey of Canadian Club Rye, put it at one end of the room and a piece of tape accross the floor on the other end. Then people would toss toonies at the bottle and whoever had the closest toonie to the bottle won it, but they could not pass the line of tape when they tossed.
Beer Cap Guessing Game - Put together a beer cap count game. it's exactly like a jelly bean count, but using beer caps instead. i charged $1 for each guess and the winner got a bubba of beer.
Jello Shooters- Jello & Vodka shooters.. who doesn't love them? I have seem them sold by the trays at previous Buck and Does!
Joker's Wild - 1 deck on cards + one Joker taped to a bristol board face down. people pay to write their names on the back, when the board is full... you reveal where the Joker is and that person wins half the money.
Beer Case Raffle - Take out the beer bottles from the slots (24 in all) and raffle each slot for $5. One slot is chossen at random and that person wins the case. That's about a $100 profit from one case of beer. This offen does so well that more then one case can be done. And guest are happy since they will win a case for only $5.
Pie Auction - Get two pails...ones with the brides name and one with the grooms. People put money into them all night and at the end the person with the most money got a pie in the face by the other.
Do you have any more ideas of fundraising games? I would love to hear them!
Over the holidays, we went up north and stayed at our friends house and played POKENO! It was a hit and it is very addictive. They told us to bring rolls of pennies with us and we did! We had 5 bowls or jars of each hand of Pokeno. We placed in 4 - 10 pennies in a round and the center bowl was the jackpot! That can be your bowl!!!!Your guests will enjoy winning the other bowls per round, but let them know that the center bowl/jar is yours and hubby's.
Good Night!
I think your well on your way!!
Games:
Joker
Toonie Toss (if you can get your liquor at the border you will save big $)
Chubby Bunny (5 per entrance, people shove marshmellows in their mouths and try to say chubby bunny in the mic, its frigin hilirious)
Plinko
Raffle tickets - each prize had its own container to put the tickets in MAIN PRIZE 19 inch monitor, 50/50 Draw
Pie in the face - bride and groom
Poker
Jello Shots/Tube Shots (we did porn stars) these sold nearly 200 bucks! sucked the bottles dry...
Drop a buck for shot (shot glass placed in a large Jar, and they drop loonies in the jar if they get it in the shot glass they get a free shot)
My suggestion - Try to get donations - We spent 5 months collecting donations and we only spent about 100 bucks on prizes ourselfs.
Prizes - monitor, gym membership 3 months + tshirt, Printer, Computer Chair, Kitchener Ranger hockey tickets, Picture Frames, 2 Girly Spa Kits (nail polish, Cosmo, martini glasses, and mix) Free Photo Session, personalized cake, Blow up Mattress, crock pot, george foreman grill.
We had more then enough, at the end of the night we were selling arm lengths for $5.00 to try to sell the rest of tickets
Drinks - 3 dollars for a beer and 4 dollars for liquor
if you guys have any questions let me know! :) We did very well with our stag and doe!
KEY - TICKETS TICKETS TICKETS!!
For the toonie toss, I highly recommend having two separate lines (one 26er of Canadian Club for each lineup). At my husband and I's buck and doe, the lineup for the toonie toss was huge!!! It definitely makes a ton of money too.
Also a suggestion for the pie auction....if you have two envelopes, one with the bride's name and one with the groom's name, people can buy raffle tickets and put their tickets in whichever envelope of the person they want to pie in the face. Around 11pm or so, have someone draw a ticket from each, and then both of you get pied in the face! My husband's cousin offered $50 to the person whose ticket was drawn, because he wanted to pie my husband in the face, lol.
Another idea is a raffle table. Our wedding party setup a large table with several different prizes. One was a $50 bill, another was a bucket with glasses and grey goose vodka, another was a spa theme gift, etc. They had an envelope in front of each prize, to put the raffles tickets in, and then one ticket was drawn from each envelope. They sold the raffle tickets in singles, or arm lengths.
Another fundraising idea is a hockey shoot off. You will need a hockey net, hockey stick and 3 pucks. Then people can come up and they pay $2 to take a shot at the bride or groom (whoever they decide), or $5 for 3 shots.
Hope that helps!
I agree, it is alot of fun. Unfortunately, since I live in a small town, the only time the Pre Wedding Socials make anything here is Halloween and New Years. We changed our date right before New Years and couldn't have one for that night and our wedding is in July...no social for us! :(
