Ask a Question
Ebay- Has anyone purchased wedding dress from there?

I did a general search on google for wedding dress & it provided a dress on ebay. All the dresses I've seen are under $200. The seller's ratings were 99% or above. The dresses are custom made...you just have to give them your measurements.

I haven't found a dress yet ......I've tried on about 30 dresses so far & I'm petrified that I'll make a huge mistake......& regret buying the dresss.

What do you ladies think....am I crazy?

I bought my dress on ebay. It's a JH8850 replica. When I first got it I thought it was great, it wasn't exactly right, but it looked nice. After I started inspecting it I started finding all sorts of things wrong with it. The zipper was too short and I couldn't try the dress on because it wouldn't go over my head or hips. Some of the seams were not straight, the dress was shorter than I wanted (I can't wear heels), it had a sash and bow on the front that was crooked, the lace was not right and it didn't match the lace used on the train. There are some sellers who do a great job and your dress will be perfect, but there are others that aren't so good. My suggestion is to try to find a seamstress. It will cost more than $200, but it will be better and still cost less than the actual designer dress. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.

While I have no direct experience with Ebay gowns I know a bride who had a similar experience to futuremrs's experience.  Mostly her complaint was that the material used was inferior and the dress did not lay right on her... it was similar style to your dress5 photo.  She ended up buying a different dress completely.
Have you thought of going to a sample sale?  Many dress shops have them often in order to get rid of the sample.  They sometimes sell the dresses for up to 50% off.  Good luck!

We've had 2 girls from our church order eBay dresses, the one was perfect. A simpler taffeta a line gown with no beading or ruching.
The other girl go one that was pretty much the third dress you have pictured but with a top like the first picture. It was a wreck!
It looked like she made it herself. Crooked seams, the bead work was all funny, really cheap fabric, etc.
I'd say it depends on the complexity of the dress, and see if they have a return policy and if they have 'real bride' pictures.

hey I got one and didn't like it because it was too short but the dress was really nice. I have a friend who got one and she loved the dress.  My biggest suggestion is to measure with extra room, add extra length to your measurements, then be ready to take it to a talor when the dress comes.

Just be careful if its coming from China.  Especially if the shipping is higher than the purchase amount.  They do this so in the event you are not happy and ask for a refund they are only legally bound to refund the purchase price and not the shipping.
Alot of the Chinese factories use designers photos and what you end up getting is nothing like the photo.  So just beware!

I have ordered one.. with very little trepidation as if it does not work out it is still a cheap mistake!! If it is only 'average' then it is gonna be used for a trash the dress session, and if it is good, well, then that is great!!

I ordered several dresses from szeastbridal.com  like everyone else said they too are out of China.  But my husband and  I went personally and visited there shop. ( We live in Hong Kong and took a trip to Shanghai China)They did a great job with everything that I have purchased.
The lady name that I dealt with was Grace and she speaks great english.

I bought my first dress on Ebay as well, There was nothing really wrong with it, I just couldn't find anyone to alter it for less than $250 bucks (which was WAAY more than what I paid for it) It was cut much lower in the back than I was comfortable with. But my dress turned out gorgeous, and I ended up selling it to another bride on Craiglist....She was happy with it. I just went out and bought another dress from Davids...Just beware of the sellers feedback score, and the shipping price, etc..and also if you can, contact any other buyer of their dresses and get their opinions on it too..I did that, and the lady actually sent me pictures of her dress and everything. Good luck though...

i bought my dress on ebay but it was from an actual bride. It's a beautiful Lazaro gown that she also sent the receipt along with to show it was authentic. It was normally over $4,000 but I got it for $400 since it was used. Absolutely nothing wrong with the gown and it had been cleaned and preserved.
