Ask a Question
What do you think you two will be like when you are old?

For me the idea of being old with my FH is one of the strongest and most enjoyable fantasies I have about our future together.

I like to think about how he will be playing his guitar on our front lawn and making snarky gran-torino style "Get off my Lawn!" remarks with the other, whilst I learn to garden (I think it might be 60 years before I fully develop a green thumb). I know we will still be painting together by then, but I imagine they will be more geared towards the simpler things in life. I like to imagine all of our children and grandchildren coming to visit all of the time and how we will try to recommend old books (me) and old music (him) to them.

So my question is, what do you imagine in your fantasies of an old age together?

we'll be the crotchety, cantankerous, hissing, mean old couple that can only tolerate each other & no one else! haha.

In all seriousness though- we always talk about wanting a ranch in Montana when we retire. He wants to work the land, I want to breed horses & run a riding school. Quite honestly, I think that even if he does retire he'll still work at least part time until the day he dies & even with my riding school, I'l still be looking after him & constantly trying to talk him out of crazy ideas or stop him from doing something stupid when he says "Hey ya'll- watch this!!"

It depends on the road we take, but overall...

I imagine we'll be a well-traveled couple; we love traveling together. He'll still play guitar, I'll still write, and I'm sure he'll still do magic for people. We'll be the old people all the little kids want to visit, because as much as we both love children, we won't have our own. Between the two careers I want, we'll have the money to retire to a nice house somewhere warm and tropical (he hates the snow), or maybe back in the mountains somewhere. Somewhere we'd be relatively secluded without being cut off from the world.

And I think we'll be that old couple people see walking together all the time. You know the ones... who take morning strolls arm-in-arm every day and everyone just kind of smiles as they wonder how long they've been together.

We both joke that we want to live to celebrate our 100th wedding anniversary. That would be quite a long shot (I'd be 120!) but you never know, we both take good care of ourselves and as medicine advances, maybe! (We're definitely shooting for the 80th, though!)

We often joke that we'll be the old people making all the noise while they're "getting it on" at the nursing home. Haha!
Seriously, though...
I'll be the grandma who is always baking cookies with the grandkids. He'll be the grandpa who takes the kids fishing.  =)
We'll sit out in our rockers on our front porch and just enjoy the sunset together.  =)

Aww, I love reading everyone's hopes/vision for the future!  :)

That picture you have posted?  Where they've been together for God-knows how many years and still SO IN LOVE?  That's gonna be us.

And FH will have his pants up to his chest, still playing computer games, talking to me in his sweet old man voice (but he'll no longer be faking it) and I'll be the tech-savvy Grandma, still burning everything I throw in the oven!  :)

I will be the cat lady. And he will fish all the time, and threaten to shoot all my kitties. Haha. We hope to travel a bunch and have a house on a lake.  As long as we're still in love, I don't really care what we do!
