The Proposal

Jason and I had been together for just over four years. Dated just over a year living an hour apart, and lived together for almost three. I had been in graduate school for physical therapy since Fall 2007, which took over my life!

Well the day after my last academic semester of graduate school (with only a semester of clinicals and my final paper left), Jason decided to take me out to dinner to celebrate being done with another semester. I had been so stressed the past month that I had no desire to put any effort into planning or finding out details, so I happily agreed.

Jason took me to The Iron Horse Hotel for dinner in downtown Milwaukee. That night they had a big party in the lobby for their Four Diamond Recognition. As a result, there were all these jewels on display, and Models wearing expensive jewelry. One pair of earrings that were a quarter of a million dollars!!

As soon as we got there the maître d’ started talking to us, and told us about the party, and said there was some private collections upstairs that he could maybe get us in. This man was so flamboyant that he could have just been this nice to us! Later during dinner he offered to bring us up to the private collections. We went up to the third floor to go into a hotel room where the collections were held.
Well, when he opened the door there were rose petals all over the floor, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were on the far table, and there were no private collections. I walked in, Jason followed. He immediately got down on one knee and proposed! After a few “oh my god”, I said yes!! It was amazing!

Come to find out that two weeks prior Jason and gone to the hotel and planned it all… everyone was in on it, the maître d’, our waiter, the guy that checked our coats, and the host even. It was wonderful! When we came back down to the party, everyone was hugging me and shaking Jason’s hand. It was so great to have so many strangers happy and excited for us! We had only planned to go to dinner, but the room he proposed in was ours for the night. Earlier that week Jason had packed a bag for me, making sure to take old shoes/sweat pants/etc so I wouldn’t realize anything was missing. He had everything planned and completely surprised me!
