Ask a Question
How will you incorporate yours or your fiance's heritage, traditions, and customs into your ceremony and reception?
My heritage is mostly polish. My grandma moved here from Poland so I was brought up with many polish customs, traditions, and etc.
It is very important to me to incorporate a few things polish into my ceremony or reception. I'm not completely decided on exactly what yet, here are some thoughts:

-sto lat (a song of celebration sung by my polish guests or played from a recording) (I'm sure my crazy uncles will do this on their own they usually do at all family weddings)
-glass markers for cocktails and champagne that read Na Zdrowie (meaning cheers)
-halvah as one candy buffet option (a sweet we used to always get at one of our favorite polish delis)
-rosemary leaves as a remembrance
-drink a glass of wine without spilling a drop for good luck
-guests throw rice and pennies symbolizing fullfillness of food and wealth throughout life
-VODKA will be served
-catholic church ceremony

These are all traditions not sure on which ones we will all use yet. What are all of you doing to incorporate heritage, traditions, and customs into your day?

I asked a similar question not too long ago. We're both mixed so there isn't much we can do without our wedding looking too "busy". I'm Japanese and Mexican so we plan on doing something with origami and Japanese food, but we're unsure about the Mexican side. He's Puerto Rican and Filipino so for our first dance we might do a Salsa dance and Filipino food. As for traditions we didn't really find anything that we wanted to add except for MAYBE the Money Dance because it's a tradition in both of our families and cultures (not sure which culture, it's in a lot). We'll be having a candy buffet as well and I hope to have at least one popular candy from each if possible. If anything though, the customs we'll be including are Hawaiian.

I am having an italian menu for dinner. We're both of several different nationalities ( true americans! ) but we are both also part irish... I was considering an irish blessing on our marriage by our pastor.
