Wedding Cake - cakes or cupcakes?? - STHRNSWEETIE's Purple Wedding by Color Blog

Originally, I planned to do the traditional wedding cake. But now I am seeing a lot of really cute cupcake designs! My FH is a cupcake fanatic! So I can incorporate some of his tastes into the wedding as well. Is there anyone who is opting for cupcakes instead of wedding cakes or should I go with both?

That's exactly what I'm trying to figure out too!! haha

We were going to do the whole pretty cake hoopla until we went for a cake tasting and left extremely disappointed the cakes we dry and over priced so we opted for cupcakes. Luckily we live next to a really good cupcake bakery. We are doing cupcakes and a lil' cake for us.
I think cup cakes are a great, easy, and inexpensive way to go plus you don't have to have any one stand there and cut the cake for all the guests. Hope this helps

I have always wanted a cupcake wedding cake and thats what Im having! I just think its so cute, and its different.. I dont want to have a totally traditional wedding!

We are going to do cupcakes then have a mini cake on the top so we can still do the cake cutting! Plus some places charge you for cake cutting/ serving fees... They cant do that when Its cupcakes!

i love eating cupcakes cos you don't need a fork for them! BUUUT i LOVE LOVE LOVE the look of the traditional wedding cake and im not so fond of the cupcake tree like thing, although there was a blue bride on here who did an awesome cupcake DIY stand... it was damask and blue but i cant remember who exactly made it. it was also a popular post for awhile.. maybe someone else out there knows?? i would say do both cake and cupcake. we are even considering doing like a fake cake plus cupcakes for eating because as trulyblessed mentioned, the cupcakes might taste better. i went to a wedding this summer with amazing moist and yummy cupcakes!!

we're totally doing cupcakes! you get sooo many more flavour options and everyone we've told we are doing cupcakes things its a great idea. the best part is buying a dozen different flavoured cupcakes and taking them home to taste test ;)

My son's band director opted for cupcakes instead of a wedding cake. It was really nice. Whatever the bride wants -- it's her day.

I love the idea of a cupcake "tower" with a cutting cake on top. You won't have to worry about cake cutting costs either. That's kind of a bonus in my book!

We did mini cupcakes for our wedding, everyone loved it! We had a dessert served with the meal, so the cupcakes were an extra with coffee.
I'm not really a fan of the cupcake 'tree', so we had a few displayed next to a 8 inch cutting cake, and the caterers brought the rest out on platters after the cutting.
Ours actually ended up costing a bit more than a traditional wedding cake, but we went with an awesome baker.

Thanks for responding ladies... I think we will go with the cupcakes with the small cake on top option. My FH is so excited about having cupcakes. I let him think it was his idea! ;-)
