Rehearsal Dinner...
...well, Welcome Dinner
This is the dress I got to wear to our Welcome Dinner (having Rehearsal the day of, so we're not calling it a rehearsal dinner). Got it on sale at White House Black Market along with these peep toe heels :-) I'll wear a white shrug sweater over it for when I get cold. I haven't gotten the jewelry yet but I plan on getting a red bead necklace and earrings for during the UGA game (we'll be at a bar in downtown Athens to see it) and then will change into yellow jewelry for the dinner.

Notice the damask pattern...? Hurry ladies, it was on sale so it's gonna disappear fast!

Signs
These are the signs I made for the bar, to go in both bathrooms next to the bathroom baskets, and at the candy buffet. I found these excellent damask frames on weddingbee being sold by a bride's mother (these are the ones from Target) and just typed up what I wanted in MS Publisher. :-)

Door Hangers
I made these in MS Publisher and plan to print them double-sided on thick cardstock at Kinko's. I took them last week to get printed but the margins of the door hanger weren't lining up. I tweaked it a bit and printed it on regular paper at work and think I may have fixed the problem so I'm going to try again this week and hopefully they'll print out ok so I can cut them out with no trouble. Wish me luck!

These will be going in the welcome bags for the guests staying in hotels while in Athens for the wedding. The bags will be given out at check-in.

I edited out the last names but it has my last name and then Jonathan's last name underneath that.

i ordered the table number holders from the Knot shop but got 20 of them on ebay for half the price!

Bridesmaids
Bridesmaids or Family Members Being Difficult?
From Bridal Bootcamp:

Once you get engaged, you will inevitably have to deal with difficult people. It's like the ring gets slipped onto your finger and suddenly a spell is cast, where your good friend is transformed into Slacker Bridesmaid, and your sweet Aunt Doris becomes a Dementor. So how do you keep their negativity from sucking away your joy and excitement?

* Distance yourself: If certain people are getting under your skin, try to stay away from them for a while. Let your maid of honor deal with the bridesmaid who hasn't paid for her dress yet, and let your mom tell Aunt Doris, "Bite me" — or perhaps ask her gently to keep her opinions to herself (or let Aunt Doris have a go at the Slacker Bridesmaid. Fun!).

* Resist the urge to say what's on your mind: I know, I know, you think it will feel much better if you vent. But it may not. If you go off on a friend or relative, you could really say something you don't mean and hurt your relationship. Just say less. It's always best to nod politely, then step away from the situation to figure out how to handle the situation properly. Sometimes tuning out is the best way to deal with drama-creators.

* Diffuse anger: Really mad or hurt? Go for a run or walk. Do some kickboxing and take your anger out on the punching bag. This will make you feel much better than you would after flipping out.

Wedding Cake
Ordering it this week!
Jonathan and I finally decided on a cake design that we both like! We won't use fondant, just really smoothed out buttercream. I wanted a desing in black but I'm afraid of using too much black icing so we chose this design which uses very little. We're also adding a bunch of yellow orchids as our cake topper. We'll have the layer we cut into be yellow cake with rasberry filling and the two other layers be chocolate with ganache filling. Yummy!!! We're ordering from Publix so a month out is enough time for them (I think... I hope!)

Does anyone know if I have to provide the black ribbon to Publix for the bottom of the layers?

UPDATE: I spoke with a decorator at Publix and she told me she would take care of the ribbon, that it wouldn't cost much and not to worry about it. I'm not sure if that means the floral dept has some or if she's buying it herself! Also, be advised, the cake layers at Publix are only 4" high - so my design will look slightly different but it's all good.

Ask a Question
Vows
I'm reposting this to try and get more responses. I really need help with this ladies!!!

I heard some vows in either a recent movie or TV show and they were really unique and I want to use them but can't remember where I heard them! So I need your help remembering where I saw them. They went something like this:

Groom: Will you accept me as your husband?
Bride: I do

Bride: Will you accept me as your wife?
Groom: I do

I thought they were so unique because you're vowing to your spouse instead of the minister! Please help me find them!!!

Candy Buffet Sign
Ok, so I copied another WBC bride on this one - Tamela I think her name is... hers was teal and lime. Anyway, mine didn't come out as good as hers but I think I made a valient effort nonetheless. My fiance helped me by cutting the dowels and spray-painting all the letters and base. I painted on the glitter and added the jewels. It took us a few days to get it done and I'm excited for everyone to see it! I plan on having a damask tablecloth on the table and this sign in the front and center with the jars around it. I don't think I'm going to limit the color of the candy - not sure black, white, and yellow make the best flavors...

You can't really tell from the pic but the letters are in fact painted with glitter on top of the black and white and there are jewels glued to the ends of the letter making for a sparkly effect. Took this pic with my phone - sorry!
