This is sugarr2518's Pink Wedding!

Let me start off by saying that my day didn't go how I pictured it, especially in the morning! It started off by getting up at 6 am and getting a call from one of my bridesmaids saying that my grooms cake that ordered from Hy-Vee bakery was "falling apart"! I talked to the baker and she said all she could do for me was give me $30 off of $130. At the time, I didn't think much of it, but when I looked at it, I was embarrassed to even put it out so everyone could see it! (as you can tell from the pictures)

Then I got up and dressed to get my hair and makeup did up, my hair turned out nice:) While I was getting my hair did up, I got a call from the others who were helping decorate the hall, telling me the doors weren't open and it was 7:30 and they were suppose to be open at 7:00! So, eventually the doors got open at 8:00! Then I had the makeup artist start on my makeup and it was terrible!!!! I had to have three different girls do it until it was right! I didn't have a makeup trail, so it was kinda my fault:O During my makeup trail, I started to cry because things weren't going how I thought they were! Then my husband called me crying because he didn't think the hall decorating was going the way it should and he wanted everything to be perfect for me since I put all of that time into everything!

After my break down and hair and makeup, I trucked over to the hall to see how things were going. Once I entered the hall, I saw there was NO backdrop behind head table, no skirting on head table, and no photo booth!!! I needed backdrop up to put lights on it and needed the skirting to put my sheer fabric in front of it! So, I had to call up the manager and pretty much yell at him! At this point, I was frantric because I hardly decorated anything and getting ready pictures were in 15 minutes!!! Plus, I had to deal with the grooms cake and figure out what to do with that!

After all of that drama, I was completely on edge, I went back to the hotel to go get things ready for getting ready photos! I had to haul everything to the room where we were suppose to get ready and get all of my accessories ready for detail pictures, plus get my dress steamed! The photographer said it looked like it needed to be steamed, especially for pictures. Well, we tried and it exploded luckily not on the dress. So, we decided not to do it and get the dress on and everything because it was 10:50 and we were suppose to have our first look pictures at 10:30:O

So, needless to say, I didn't have our first look until 11:05 and my husband and I took some pics together which set us back to 11:45. The wedding party was upset because I told them 11:00! After that it was pretty smooth sailing, but up until that point it was a complete disaster!

So, my advice to brides would be as follows:
1. Don't forget to steam your dress ahead of time and have someone who isn't busy to help do this.

2. Pay a Day Of Coordinator to decorate your hall ! This will save you SOOOOO much stress on the day of your wedding:) I really, really, really wish I would have done this!

3. Call up ALL or MOST of your vendors the day or two before to finalize everything, even if you think you did already! I wish I would have called up the venue manager the day before just to double check everything!

4. If you want to take pictures then add on some time just in case if you are running behind because something is bound to happen that you will have to deal with! That way you can get in ALL of your pictures that you wanted! Wish I would have done this one too!

5. Double check your bakers to make sure they know how to make/decorate a 3 - D cake!

6. Pay the extra money to get a hair AND makeup trail!!!! I had a hair trail but no makeup trial! It's a stress saver!

7. Make sure you choose supportive, and helpful people for your bridal party!

8. Lists, Lists, and Lists for Everything and Everyone! That way everybody knows what to do and how it should be done! Make sure to give it to them or talk to them a day or two before:)

9. Take in all of the small things! Just sit back and take it all in because it goes by too quickly!!!

10. If you get off of your "timeline schedule/line" then just go with the flow and change things up! Your ceremony and reception will still go really well and you will still end up getting married:):)

These were just a few things that I wish that I had known ahead of time before I got married! It would have eased my mind a little more, if I knew that I wasn't the only one with some major issues on the day of the wedding! I thought I was the only one who broke down, but I'm not! When you are caught up in everything, just remember to take a deep breath and think in a couple hours you will be marrying the guy of your dreams:)

Hey WBC girls! I just got back from our mini-moon from Chicago and it was amazing! I'll have to post some pics at a later time:) Just wanted to tell you girls that we officially booked our Hawaii honeymoon on the island of Maui:):) We are staying at the Westin Resort and Spa. I am soo looking forward to this in December! Maui is such a beautiful island and we are going to go sailing and then snorkeling, whale watching, go to a luau, and travel on the road to Hana:)

I really did a happy dance after we left the travel agents office! The best part was that all of our wedding money paid for this trip!!!! Soon we will be sittin on the beach in Maui when it is freezing cold in Iowa....woohooo:):):)

First, I want to say that I have been MIA because we just got back from our mini-moon:) We went to Chicago, IL! The most exciting news is that we have FINALLY booked our honeymoon in Maui!!!!!!!!! I'm just too darn excited :):) I'll have to write another post about our mini-moon though!

I left off last time with the touching speech of my bridesmaid and now it is time for the MOH speech who is also my lil sis! So, here it is:

"When I was little, I always wanted to be just like Mindy. I would follow her around, want to play with her and her friends, and be just like Mindy. I remember at one time Mindy and I had the same tennis shoes and the same winter coats. I thought I was the coolest kid riding the bus looking just like my older sister. Even though Mindy would get annoyed with me, she would always stick up for me and not say too much about me always tagging along. Mindy was and still is a great older sister and I have always looked up to her. As we grew older, I became less annoying to her (at least I think I did), and we are now best friends. I am proud that she is my sister and am happy that she found someone she will spend the rest of her life with.
I remember back when Mindy was in high school, she always said that she would never date a hick. A hick at our school, was a farm kid that owned a truck and usually chewed and drank alcohol, sat in the school parking lot in their trucks and revved up the engines to see who’s truck was the loudest. Now look at her, she’s with Eric, a small town guy that loves combining, John Deere, and owns a truck. Mindy found out that sometimes the best guys are the good ol’ country boys.
The first time I met Eric, I wasn’t sure how he’d fit into the family, but once I found out that he likes to drink beer and he likes racing, I knew it wasn’t going to be a problem and he would fit right in.

Congratulations Mindy and Eric, and I hope you will have many years of happiness. "

I of course cried after this speech, I just couldn't help it! It was funny, and touching at the same time:) Are you guys looking forward to listening to other speeches that are given?

After that my husband and I gave our speeches thanking everyone in the wedding party, family, friends and of course each other:)

Next, part of the night consisted of TONS of pictures in our DIY photo booth:) If you are debating about doing one of these you should DEFINITELY do it!!!!! I didn't know for sure if we should do it just because my husband was a little unsure about the whole idea, but you know how guys are! I decided to do it in the end because the reception hall provided a backdrop and everything free of charge! We just provided the props which I borrowed from others too! I have to say it was a BLAST!!! I just started pulling people in there and there were SOOO many pictures taken:) Alot of them were priceless and just hilarious, you'll see for yourself!!!

Our first couple dances of the night were so special and so much fun:) My husbnad and I first started off the night of dancing with "It's Your Love" :) So glad we did this one, very nice song and reminds us of each other! Then it was onto the father/daughter dance. I must say this song makes me cry every time because it describes my dad and my relationship! This was the only song I cried to probably because I am a daddy's girl:) Then it was mother son dance:) Last, but not least, wedding party dance and we decided to go for a slow song because husband thought it would work better..... and it did:)

Next up, bouquet toss and dancing the night away!!!!

So, I last left off with us being at the reception hall admiring our cake and cake topper, which btw my husband loved:) I had planned on getting him a 3-D John Deere fondant cake, but it didn't work out(I'll go into more details about that later!). My personal attendant knew someone from back home and had ordered it on the day of our wedding at 11 am and it was ready by 5 pm:) HUGE thanks to her!!!!!!!

So, as she was going to bring out the cake, the DJ started to play, "She Thinks My Tractors Sexy". I was leading him onto to thinking that we were going to cut the cake, but we were really there to show him his grooms cake! As my attendant was bringing it out, I saw tears in my husbands eyes and as soon as he saw it he started crying:*) It was the cutest thing ever! He gave me a big hug and kiss! I don't think he even had a clue that I was planning this!

After that, we cut our cake and I was told by some of his little cousins to smash the cake in his face. I wanted to please them, but not completely ruin his tux or upset him, so I just did it a little bit:) What can I say, that's how I roll;P We laughed the whole time!!!!

It was time to get our dinner on! We went back to our gorgeous head table to eat and watched our wonderful slideshow complimentary due to my lil sis:) Thanks bunches girl!!!!!

Next up, we had our speeches given by his best man, my maid of honor(sis) and one of my bridesmaids! All I have to say is let the water works begin! Here is one of the speeches from my one of my bridesmaids! Her and I go back way to 5th grade and I truly love her to pieces! She is like my long lost other sister! I truly am blessed to have such an amazing best friend like her:)

Pretty much as soon as she started talking she started crying and so did I! It was such a touching speech:) I hope you all enjoy it!!!!! I know I loved it!

Wedding Toast for Mindy and Eric

"My name is Dana and I am Mindy’s best friend. As some of you know, I have known Mindy( and her) family for many years. Mindy and I been through good times and bad, tears and laughter, but through it all Mindy has remained a wonderful friend to me throughout the years. We were inseperable growing up. I spent so much time at Mindy’s house her family almost had to adopt me! Just kidding, but really! We shared great memories playing basketball together in 5th grade (we were not good!), shared secrets crushes in high school, were roommates/classmates in college, and just recently became regulars at Hobby Lobby (Mindy’s Favorite!)

I was also with Mindy when she came home on her first date with Eric. I remember her smiling and telling me how much she really liked him. I am so honored to stand here today 5 years later and see these two incredible people start a new chapter in their lives. They share a great sense of humor, a wonderful lab named Lucy, and a commitment to make each other happy each and every day. Please raise your glasses while I toast To my best friend Mindy, and Eric who I have enjoyed getting to know over the years. I love you guys and I wish you all the happiness life can bring as you start this day as husband and wife! Congratulations!!"

I just reread it and it made me cry all over again! I'm truly blessed to have a friend like her:)

It is kind of bitter sweet to say this, but it's all over with:( I'm estatic that I am now a Mrs. , married to my husband, and it feels so good to say that!! It all went by soo fast! I know everyone always says this, but it is soo true! Just seems like a snap of the fingers and it was done! I will say that we had a beautiful ceremony and reception. The ceremony went smoothly and the reception was a blast! When the DJ stopped playing, I wasn't ready to go home! I wanted to keep dancing the night/morning away, but it was that time!

Even though, I thought I was organized which I was, things don't always go the way that you want them to! The morning up until the ceremony was, I hate to say this, but a nightmare! I won't go into detail on this post! I definitely have some words of advice for another post!

We couldn't have asked for a more gorgeous day, as far as weather goes! It didn't rain at all and it was a high of probably 88 degrees with a little humidity. We are extremely thankful that the weather cooperated:)

I woke up to a sunny day at 6:30, well, I guess I shouldn't say woke up because I didn't get any sleep:0 Eeven though I didn't get any sleep, I was still ready for the day to begin! I got my hairs and makeups did all up! Had a couple issues with that....but it all worked out!

Throughout the morning, I was really looking forward to our first look! I just wanted to be with him and see him! I think he was thinking the same thing:) He waited for me down at the pond behind our reception hall with his back turned away from me! When I tapped him on the shoulder, he turned around looking all handsome and he said with tears in his eyes , " You are soo beautiful, Mindy!" It was such a special moment! We hugged and kissed after that! Took some pics by the pond and pavillion:) I can't wait to see these photos!

After that we rounded up the wedding party, and went to a historical building where our reception hall was and took some group pics along with my husband and I by ourselves and tried to squeeze in a couple bridesmaids pics:)

We hurried off to the church to take some more pics along with family pictures! We took some fun, formal, and unique wedding shots! I wanted some pics where my husband and I were up against a brick wall, but we didn't want to go outside because I just took out my bustle. So, we found a brick wall in one of the other rooms of the church! I hope they turned out well:)

Before I knew it, it was time to line up for the ceremony and get hitched! The ceremony was flawless and I married the man of my dreams! I was soo afraid that I was going to start bawling because I got soo choked up at the rehearsal. It was pretty funny because father said he didn't know if I would make it through the ceremony because of what happened at the rehearsal. At the rehearsal, I almost couldn't say anything as far as our vows go! At the ceremony, my husband was more teary eyed than i was! I think I go it all out of my system in the morning and the days before! I almost teared up because of all of the people who had come to see us get married! I was definitely feeling the love:)

Then into our stretch limo for some much needed beverages:) We arrived at the reception around 5:15 and were introduced as husband and wife:) I have to say the reception hall looked amazing and even better than what I thought it would turn out! We went up to the head table and I looked straight across and saw our damask cake with our cake topper! I have to say it reminded me of one of those cakes off of those cake shows! I was in LOVE with it!

This is beyond crazy, because it seems like yesterday we were in Vegas and my FH just asked me to marry him! Here we are a little over a year later and it's almost time to get married......eeeeee:) There are just too many emotions that I have experienced this.

It definitely has been a rollercoaster of a ride! I find myself checking and double checking all of my decorations that I have packed away to see if I have everything and didn't forget ANYTHING and checking the weather on an hourly basis:) Right now, the forecast is set at 87 degrees with no chance or 10% chance of rain. So, it's actually looking not too bad, especially for July!!!!

I wanted to thank each and everyone one of you who has helped me with my wedding journey, offering me advice, listening to my wedding woes, and for writing comments that make me smile and laugh:) You girls are the best! It means more to me than you will ever know!

This chapter of my life is soon closing, but a new and exciting one will be opening! I can't wait to be a wife, Mrs. , and spend the rest of my life with my love:) Here starts the beginning of the weekend!!!!:)

I just got a "sneak peak" of the bouquets and the florist ordered the wrong flowers! I'm really really really sad because I was really looking forward to calla lillies in the bouquet because they are so classic and beautiful! Instead they put in regular lillies . I don't like lillies they are just too big and take over everything! Plus, they don't really fit our theme and such. Lillies are more of a tropical flower. I can't say anything about this because she is family and she is donating her time for free, of course we are paying for the flowers! I send a photo to them about 3 months ago of exactly what I wanted and we talked about it and everything. It just plain sucks!

I'm sorry for this, but I just can't believe this got mixed-up!!! Right now I feel just like blah.

I am rushing to get everything semi-rounded up/organized for this weekend! I'm trying to make sure I have checked everything off of my list. I still have a few things to do, so I'm getting there, only 2 more days left:) I just feel like I check and double check, but I still feel like I'm missing or forgetting something. I just need someone to tell me yep your good to go!

Anyways, I did some DIY stationary tonight:) I made my photo booth poem and sign plus added a props sign to my props basket:) I also made holders for the suckers and cotton candy holders! I also put in a pic of my shoes and the "I DO" sticker on the bottom of them:)

Today was a busy day, well, it was a busy day of shopping plus trying on my dress and taking it home:) Yes, I tried on the dress and it fit like a glove and I mean it was really tight! My dress is really heavy, so I'm glad that it was super tight that way it will stay up and I won't have to pull at it! I don't have any photos of it because my bridesmaids took the pics on their cameras!

When we went to get my dress, we did a little shopping, well ALOT. I found this beautiful braclet from Von Maur. I thought it would go great with my other jewelery. I was right it matched perfectly:) The only thing is, is it too much all together or just the right amount of sparkle? I really need your girls' opinions because I don't know if I should wear all of it together!

Please tell me what you think of the jewerly altogether:)

Also, I know we did this early, but my FH and I exchanged our gifts! We couldn't wait any longer since we both got each other something already! We are writing or have written letters to each other and are planning on giving them to each on the day of wedding! He got me something really sparkly. Honestly, I couldn't believe he picked it out because it is perfect:) He LOVED his gift too! We had the biggest smile when he saw it, especially the Hawkeye sign! I included some of the pictures of us and our gifts!
