Ask a Question
Are disposable Camera's tackey/out-dated????

With the technology we have today with digital cameras....are disposable cameras tacky????

Ok, so it looks like I may NOT be able to get the photo booth for the reception :-( So, I've been searching for a budget friendly alternative that will capture pictures of our guest. SO, what I came up with is Disposable cameras at each table.

I'll put one camera at each table with one of these litte messages:

1.) "I'm your camera so have some fun, You'll make this album a special one! Snap away as best you're able, then leave me aoff at the gift table!

OR

2.) The bride and groom have a request, So put on a big smile and look your best, When you see some fun take the hint, You snap the camera, and we'll make it print!

OR

3.) See this wedding camera sitting here--- It's for your use, we say. To help us capture memories on this, our wedding day. share the camera amonth the guests. Some candid shots please take. Then leave the camera when you're done. An albulm we will make!

The cameras are $5.49 each for about 34 tables so we'll spend about $195 vs. the $700 for the photo booth...AND we'll get PLENTY of fun shots to make our own slide show/DVD!! What cha think??

all the pictures i've seen from these types of cameras are of really poor quality. or else they don't get used or you get lots of pictures of arms and legs or other as wasted shots. how long is your photog sticking around? you could always ask them to try to capture a bunch of candid shots of your guests, or at least that's what we're doing.

Theres always went over poorly at wedding I went too.. Drunken madness leads to pictures in the bathroom, shots down boys pant, pictures of half eaten food and dinner rolls....half the cameras dont get returned, and as Sara said..the quality is really  bad..especially with these "wedding" ones.
I would suggest a photosharing card at each persons plate. A note with information where guests from your wedding can upload pictures they took at your special day.
I know brides have used shutterfly and photobucket.
Create an account and place the log in information/password and web site address on the card.
This would be the easiest because you now tons would be taking pictures with their digi cameras!
Hope that helps.

Why not have an area set up with a digital camera and a backdrop. You can have the same, photobooth-esque feel but without that price. The guests will still have some fun taking pictures and its cheap to print them off at a store. You can even order doubles and send them to your guests in your thank you cards. I think this would be better than giving disposable cameras to guests to use in drunken states and a digital camera will guarantee quality in photo resolution. Hope this helps, cheers!

I had heard of this in the past, but hadn't really considered it.
Then a friend gave me 25 of them. So, looks like we're going to put one on each table.
Thanks for those quotes, by the way- I was going to look online for them!
I actually "hope" to get some really goofy shots. Our photographer will be doing the whole reception, so I think it would be funny to get some really down and dirty funny shots.  I'm totally cool with that.

thanks ladies for all your input and letting me know about the cons of the disposable cameras.  This was just the information I needed!  BUT...I got an update.... I WON a photo booth, so now I don't have to worry about an alternative!! Thanks again ladies.
