Food!
we're going MEXICAN!
FH and i wanted to do something different for our food. we didn't want to hire a big-name caterer cause that comes with a big price tag. we also thought it would be cool to support a local family business. the place we're using has done catering before, so they're definitely not clueless. They're very professional and when we met with the owner, Luis, he let us try a bunch of stuff. for main dishes we'll have beef burritos, vegetarian burritos, pastel azteca (4 flour tortillas stacked in layers with beans, chicken, lettuce and sour cream, covered in homemade sauce) and Yuca Frita, which is deep fried casaba (tastes somewhere in between a potato and a sweet potato) and fried and marinated pork with their sauce. the side dishes will be in the middle of the table and will be pupusas, nachos, tostadas, enchiladas and beans and rice. just so people can choose what they want.

I love mexican food. it's my soul food. sticks to your ribs, and you don't really have to eat for a week and a half afterward. lol

it'll also be nice for our families to have something different, since they're all a meat and potatoes kind of crowd.

pinup girl clothing
these arrived last week, and they fit like a dream!! they're SO comfy! they didn't have my size, (9) so I ordered a 10 and I'm glad I did! the description said they fit a little bit small, so I took a chance. The fit is PERFECT! the low heel gives me sexy legs, but is not uncomfortable. I was a little worried, because I have big calves, but the fit up there is good, too. a little snug, but when I stand up it loosens. The straps are real, and will come undone, but there is a zipper, too. they were shipped in 4 business days. I Highly recommend Pinup girl clothing!! www.pinupgirlclothing.com

Wedding Invitation
Horror posters!
originally, we wanted Gary Pullin to do our invitations, unfortunately he respectfully declined. so, we got the guy that works for him, Justin Erickson to do them. we're still in the talking stage and he has given us a quote. it's going to be a little pricey, but we want to send out invitations that will be AWESOME. all of the info will be on it. it'll be one page, and people will call or email or facebook their RSVP's, AND they'll have an AWESOME poster to put up to remind them of the wedding :) WOOT!

Wedding Invitation
RSVP by phone/email
I think it's kinda silly to make someone mail a card back. I know I'm the WORST at remembering to mail anything. I'm sure even the out of town people are going to call and congratualate us, so why not just RSVP then? "Congratulations! oh, and I'm SO going to be there!!"
plus, it'll save us about $75 in postage.
we might include a little card with our names and phone number, and the website. we'll see.

ceremony and reception
In the same place
alright, so we were kind of debating on how to do this, as we're having the ceremony and reception in the same place.

this is what I wanted:
~Fiance not to see me after the rehearsal dinner the day before. this IS a tradion that I want to carry on, as I think it's important for him to see me coming down the aisle, all brided up (yes, I just made up that word)

~ I want a lot of people at the ceremony, but I didn't want to feed them all.

So Tim and I went back and forth, trying to figure out what would and wouldn't work. and we came up with tthe solution that we're going to have a limited number of people at the ceremony, more than what we were going to invite to the reception, but less than what we were going to invite to the ceremony. we'll just have appetizers and heavy Hors d'oeuvres (chicken wings, meatballs, sausage rolls) I kinda want sloppy Joes, too... lol
Since we were going to have a buffet-style dinner, anyway, I don't think it'll change much.

Venue
Aeolian Hall?
Maybe? hopefully! we're going to go see it sometime soon. (like in the next month) I've been emailing the girl back and forth and it seems pretty good so far... it's also the right price! $850 for 12 hours, plus whatever it is to use the sound system, plus whatever kind of bar configuration we use.
I still like the idea of having it outside, but it just seems like so much stress. perhaps if I had more money, but then again, perhaps not.
I also have a brother in a wheelchair, and I'd like him to be there and not be uncomfortable. plus, in October, you never can predict the weather, so i'll just play it safe and be inside :)

8-28-09
So we went to see this today, and it is AWESOME! it's a lot bigger than I imagined, and it'll likely hold a lot more people than I imagined.
we might be able to get our 150 after all... (though, that is just a rough estimate..)
It is likely the place that we're going to be using.
I'm so exited!!!

Wedding Cake
Topper. Robots or Dolls?
I saw these robots and I fell in LOVE with them... ALL of this guy's work... even the ray guns :P... but the dolls have been a thought of mine for a long time, cause I collect Living dead dolls. and it's a halloween theme. either one works though. :) if we can't get the dolls for a decent price on Ebay, then we'll opt for the robots.

Dang it. I can't upload the robots. here's the etsy link though

DIY Wedding
Invitations
Ha-ha!! I would have never figured this one out! I'm SO dense sometimes... a friend of mine was designing her 'save the date' cards and it hit me- print my own! I'm not too good at the designing stuff on the computer, but Tim is! haha. I'm doing the flowers, he can do the invitations...
they're not going to be like the ones in the picture, but i figured it went with my theme. lol
2 things down, a million to go!
For 'special guests' (lol though we're not sure who...) we're going to ship them one of those cheap vacuum molded halloween masks with the invite written on the back of it. we thought that'd be hilarious.

DIY Wedding
flowers...
So, I don't really want a whole lot of flowers for my wedding. so I'm making the centrepieces and the bouquets. the centre pieces are going to be button flowers and are also going to double as favours. My idea is to buy some of those foam spheres from the dollar store, and cut them in half. paint them, stick the button flowers in (3 for each 1/2 sphere) and use a paint marker to write the date and our names on it. I'm not too sure if it's going to be on the bottom or the front yet. or perhaps I should put it on the back? lol for my bouquet, I'mgoing to use a full sphere and use some silk flowers and also some button flowers.
