Honeymoon
Greece? Hawaii? Caribbean?

My FH wants to go to Hawaii or the Caribbean and I want to go to Greece and we haven't yet decided were we'll end up. Before we got engaged Kevin said that he wanted to go to Hawaii for his honeymoon. Anyways, I'm not totally sold on the idea, because it seems a little too "popular." Don't get me wrong, I think Hawaii sounds amazing and beautiful, but I don't think that I want to go for our honeymoon.

My dream honeymoon includes going to Santorini, Mykonos and Athens. The beaches look spectacular and the scenery beautiful. I figure that we could go to Santorini and Mykonos for a little over a week then head back to Athens for a couple days and see all the sights.

I haven't planned this out, but I have a vague idea that we would get a great villa, sleep in, work on baby making :) and do a couple tours. The main purpose for the first week is to relax, enjoy and be a couple. Week two would include more adventure and lots of sightseeing.

I don't think that the Caribbean, Mexico or Hawaii can compare. I would love for our honeymoon to be off the chart and I think that this is what Greece can offer. I would love to go to South Africa, but we're not loaded and can't afford a $30,000 vaycay. I wish we could!

So, my questions to the brides out there are: 1) What are your thoughts about our choices? 2) Where are you going for your honeymoon? 3) How do we reach a compromise if we have to make one?

Some parts of Greece can be very popular too and some resorts can be very spring-breakish. I think no matter where you go you make the trip what it is yourself you know what I mean. if you go wanting and making it the best trip then it will be, if you go with reservations then you will have them. Its hard to make a compromise when these places are scattered all over the world if the caribbean was your choice then you could have done a few days there and a few in Hawaii but as they are both his Im not sure!
As we are having a destination wedding and 50 of our friends and family are going to Mexico with us, they are all staying for 7, 10 and 14 nights (we are staying 14 nights) we are just going taking the honeymoon suite for 2 nights and making the most of it. We cant afford a honeymoon on top of the money we are spending to get there stay there and for the wedding we might do something later in the year. But we are going to have one hell of a trip I cant wait!

1) If it were up to me, I would say Greece....

2) Not honeymooning.... we had to sacrifice the honeymoon in order to host our own wedding.....but no fear - there will be other times for travel later in life.....

3) the comprimise is to find a neutral vacation spot.... friends of mine went through the same dilemma for their honeymoon..... she wanted Paris, he wanted Costa Rica.... they are currently in the middle of an 11 day vacation in Italy.....

Hey there, I know what you mean about Hawaii. To me it's like vacationing in the USA, with a more tropical landscape. I'm looking for cultural travel personally... wanting something more than JUST palm trees and beaches. I would love to go to Europe but it is so expensive with the Euro dollar where it's at right now even WITH the economy in the toilet. I keep hearing about all these travel deals due to economy, but not seeing anything that really seems that cheap.

As for the Caribbean, it's tough in the summer due to rainy season. St. Lucia is a great choice if you've never been, we considered it ourselves as it offers a different type of Caribbean destination, more of an eco-vacation and they have some really awesome types of accommodation that I've never seen elsewhere. That said, it's also quite pricey depending where you stay.

We're having a hard time due to the time of year, weather in some places, and the cost in others. It's a tough call. WE might actually consider doing a mini moon to somewhere not too far after the wedding and then do a real honeymoon in the fall or winter, I'm not sure. Good luck in your honeymoon planning!
