malays wedding
i am influenced by the wedding style and ideas posted on the internet. i want to have chic and simple wedding like other bride..almost forgetting my customs and traditions. my grandma came over to my place, showed her my plans a preparation, she was unhappy with it ...it is not malay enough..well i am trying to adjust my wants and their preference. which i think is not so difficult.

below i list those adjustments grandma mentioned...

Wedding Dress:
for reception..no white dress code.Malays weddings are all about colors....the bride and groom is consider the king and queen of the day...must wear something bright...yes RED ...must add the tiara some more :D...simple attire is a big NO NO..

Wedding Favors:
traditional wedding favors for malays is the Saffron rice in sachet and boiled eggs , it is a symbols of fertility. my grandma insists in having it ..but it seems that mostly people don't follow this tradition anymore..well..i am planning to have 2 favors one traditional and one contemporary favor.

what else...henna, dais( A raised platform in a hall. Generally this is where the bride and groom are seated),silat pengantin, kompang, bunga manggar....7 trays of gifts to the groom...and the list goes on.

i still can go chic, contemporary in my invitation card, decor, centrepiece, candy bar..

i dream of a fusion Malay etnic-contemporary wedding...i am trying my best to please everybody and myself of course...coz my wedding is not only about me, it's about my family.

I truly hope that you succeed in your mission to combine traditional with contemporary! I can only imagine the trials of trying to incoroporate both. However I wish that my family was as willing to give in put as yours.
I wish you all the best and I hope that you truly do feel like a queen on your special day!
