DIY Wedding
My Invitation Project

So I dont have $$$$ to spend on my invites, so I budgeted it out and decided to put it together myself. I ordered Invites from American wedding (Tranquility Letter Pressed) and decided to do my own wording. Same for the RSVP card (since I needed a menu choice too)
I started to work on my Direction Cards (printed them out) and will Cut them out tonight. I ordered Pocket folders & Envelopes from Envelopperinc.com (fast shipping wow).
I received the folders & envelopes as well as invites on friday. I purchased ribbons from Walmart for C.47 from walmart (10) and started tying them up. I will be posting my finished invite soon (hopefully this week)
Also question for you ladies...I was using a gel pen to try to write the guests names on the envelope - but it smears...any ideas on what else i can use? (marker looks tacky)
fyi - Im making 100 invitations.

You can try a fountain pen, but be careful. I grew up using a fountain pen at school (weird French thing) and it looks very pretty. The ink dries pretty quickly, but not immediately, so you still have to be careful, and cheap pens can leave big blobs of ink. If you get a nice pen, and practice a little, it can look really nice :-)

You could also try a calligraphy pen, you can buy them at Michaels for about $5. I used them to address the invites for my parents 25th anniversary back in the summer, and it didn't smear. I DIY'd my invites too...I made 75. They turned out great, but it took several hours, and definitely requires a ton of patience. DIY is definitely the way to go with invites. It is soo costly to order invitations pre-printed and pre-made. Can't wait to see pics of them when you are finished! :)

are you set on handwriting them? Because you could always print them? You could put all the addreses into excel and then do a mailmerge and print them all at once. You can still ahve a beautiful font, but don't ahve to worry about wasting envelopes!

I will definitely go to Michaels to look at Fountain Pens & Calligraphy pens. I feel that I put a lot of work into making them I should hand write them as well, but I still have a week yet, we will see how my guinea pig envelope will look (I bought extras for practicing)
Thank you for the input ladies!!!

Also (I think they sell them at Walmart) you could look for a scrapbooking pen - they don't smear.
