When did Pink become my color???
So let me start by saying that I "hate" the color PINK. I had to put the pink in " because clearly that isn't the case...anymore. I have never been a "pink" girl. I hated that all my dolls and barbies had on pink. I always said my daughters would never wear pink. I cursed when Victoria's Secret came out with all this PINK crap. I wrote midterms in college in my womens studies classes about how I hated the color pink and how I felt it was a curse to women and was holding us back and all that other feminist crap :-). Yeah, I hated pink. I could count the number of times I actually purchased something pink for myself. But I have always loved RED...which grew into my love for Orange.

And the fall, I sooo love the fall. So when I "planned" my "late summer fun" wedding in my head, clearly Orange was a focal color. And my fiance' and I paired with Yellow and Grey (our joint fav color) and we thought we were set. Then we googled...and we saw pink. So I'm like Eh, I'm an adult. It works. And in the last few years I realized I looked damn good in Pink LOL. So we were going to do the Orange and Yellow with pops of Pink. Well who knew Yellow was going to be the bane of my wedding existence.

The yellow shades just weren't doing it for us. When we looked at bridesmaid dresses, it just looked so BLAH and GIRLY. And it was soo light. Like Easter and babies LOL. And when my sister tried on the Dessy dress in Tutti Fruti...I was hooked. And quickly pink, HOT PINK at that, became OUR color. Well and orange. And it's working. Beautifully I may add.

So excited. ^_^

Let's play catch up!
More quick updates LOL
Sooooo, I've been away for a while. Came back to a site redesign. I love it! YAY WBC.

I was doing so well before my little break. I felt like on the camped time schedule that we are on, that we were actually making progress. I guess I got a little ahead of myself (and rather busy with my business) that my progress got halted. Like SCCRREEEECH. But one day I woke up and was like OH SH*T...i'm getting married in 6 months. *BLINK*

So back into the swing of things I got.

Bridal Attire-check (well...I'll make a post about that LOL)
Cake-check
Catering/Reception Hall-check
Ceremony site/Church-check
DJ-check
Favors-need to look for boxes and ribbon
Flowers-In progress
Invitations-being designed
Photographer-check
Rehearsal Dinner-check
Transportation-check
Tuxedos-check
Videography-meeting with tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure sure we're going to go with him

So we're getting there, then it's just down to the details. I'll have lots more to post about those :-)

Busy. Busy. BUSY!
Just a little update.

I'm on bridal show overload. Seems like I keep finding them. It's not even so much that we're still looking for vendors. I just feel like I don't want to miss out on anything that might not know about already!

With our VERY tight schedule, we know we have to secure the vendors we want quickly.

Sooo, let's see.

Church reserved
Party/Reception secured
Photobooth-check
DJ-DING!
ETA: I forgot, I already booked the facility for the rehearsal dinner too!

In the next week or so, we'll finalize the photographer/videographer and the lighting/decor company.

I don't know if I'm really making any headway in this, but I feel like it LOL

Wedding Photography
and Videography
So we've been to a few bridal shows in the last week or so. Really getting to meet and know some great vendors in the area. But with our wedding coming up so soon, we know we really have to make a decision before we're stuck with the leftovers. Plus our wedding is over a holiday weekend.

We've seen some great albums and videos, but we're having a hard time deciding if we should get a separate photographer and videographer or go with someone who does both. There are SOOO many options out there and this is probably the one thing that makes us the most nervous about securing a vendor. I'm afraid of not having pictures later :(

Any pros/cons to share?

So we have finally narrowed down a date and we have a basic idea of the color scheme that we want. But as we look for dresses, mens attire and coordinating linens we are becoming even more frustrated.
Everyone cals the colors something different. We found some really nice colors on Dessy, but then trying to match up linens we hit a wall. Then another dress maker has some nice colors but the tux place doesn't have anything to match. I know the colors aren't going to match exactly, and that's ok...but geesh.

I think the color scheme is more sunset than fall colors.

The dessy colors are fiesta/flame, mango, and charcoal grey. We LOVE grey. LOL. We like the yellowy, orangy, a little bit red color scheme. So that's what we are going with. We just need to make sure we pick a shade that we can match across vendors.

Sooner or Later
The business that the DF and I own and manage requires us to travel a lot. We have a custom embroidery, screen print and promotional products business (that's going to be handy huh :-)). Well we cater to fraternities and sororities and they are always having conventions. And of course these are major money makers for us, so we really have to schedule around them. Anyone we trust to go in our place, we'd want at the wedding! So because of our busy seasons, and other plans ;-), we're looking at either Fall 2012 or early Spring 2013. I know it's a rush to go for the fall, but I have already researched a lot so I think we can get it done.

Ask a Question
Reception Location
How did you decide where to have your reception? The hotel or a banquet/party facility.

We always thought that we would prefer a hotel location. That way we can minimize travel for out of town guests and the wedding party and other out of town guests can enjoy themselves (read: drinking lol) and not worry about driving home.

But I've seen some really nice banquet facilities that I think would be beautiful (and actually be cheaper for similar services).

So now we're investigating other options besides the hotels we thought about before.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Our Journey
Hello!

Excited to start planning my wedding. I've browsed blogs, websites, and TV shows for a while, so I pretty much know a lot of what I already want.

Now, to pin down a date EEK!
