Wedding Flowers
DIY Wedding Flowers
I've been doing wedding flowers for friends and family for the last 10 years and this by far was the biggest production that I've been involved in. We weren't allowed to get into the venue to decorate the morning of the wedding. With a 900 guests wedding, we needed more time, since we were doing the draping, lighting, flowers, linens, etc ourselves, we asked the venue to allow us to come in on midnight of Friday (which was Saturday morning) and pull an all nighter to decorate the venue. With the help of our family and friends, we were able to transform the standard ballroom into a beautiful setting for my brother's wedding. I worked on the flowers along with two of my assistants on Thursday and Friday and transported everything to the venue on Friday night. I was up for more than 36 hours straight, so needless to say, I was extremely exhausted and was so happy when the wedding was over. All the planning was well worth it because my brother and his wife was so happy with the end results.

I've attached some photos of the flowers that I did and some pictures of the venue. For the bridesmaids' bouquets, each girl had a personalized rhinestone initial embedded in their bouquet.

We hung crystal curtains on the ceiling to create a big chandelier box. The original design included three layers of boxes but due to time constraint, we were only able to hang one chandelier box around the existing light versus three boxes.

DIY Photo Booth
So I saw an inspirational photo booth that was posted by a fellow WBC (can't remember which post it was). The "booth" was a wall that had vintage picture frames that were cut out and allowed the guests to take pictures behind the wall. My husband built the booth two days before the wedding. We had some damask wallpaper that was left behind from the previous owner of our house and I had tons of picture frames that I've collected throughout the years. We were going to mount pictures of weddings within our family onto the wall also but weren't able to collect the photos in time. We also wanted to set up the booth to allow the guests to take pictures and have the photos print on the spot for them, but ran out of time. So the guests took their own photos. Anyone who used the booth had a really good time with it. Here are some photos that I was able to collect from the wedding.

Lounge & 8 ft Ice Bar
As an added treat and splurge, we wanted to have a bar that was carved completely out of ice. I worked with the ice sculpturer and designed an 8ft ice bar with the couple's monogram in the center and two diamond luges (shooters) that allowed the bartenders to pour the signature cocktails thru for the guests. It was an added treat for the guests and was absolutely a hit at the wedding.

We also set out a lounge area for the guests so that they can relax and mingle with other guests. My aunt made the damask pillows to go on the chairs from some left over fabric that I had.

Candy Buffet & Water Bottle Labels
We decided to do a blue/white candy buffet for the guests. I've been collecting different size vases through out the year for this purpose. All of the candies were bought from Walmart and the favor boxes were bought from Dollar Tree. We set the candy containers on top of some black & white damask linens that I had from a previous wedding that I decorated for. The blue/white against the b&w damask print is a lovely combination. Again, I found a damask "flourish" print from a posting on WBC and asked my friend to change the color to blue and made a sign for the Candy Buffet. It was definitely a hit with the guests, especially the kids. The candies were completely gone by the end of the night.

In addition to the candy buffet, we placed the personalized water bottles that we made on the tables. I found the template for the water bottle label somewhere on the internet and asked my friend to convert the colors to the shade of blue that I wanted and had them printed at Kinko's. It was a cute addition to the table.

DIY Monogrammed Rose Covered Aisle
My sister-in-law wanted her aisle runner to be covered completely by red rose petals. However, she had 12 couples in her bridal party and didn't want the rose petals to be scattered everywhere by the time she walked down the aisle. So we decided to glue red silk rose petal on an aisel runner that we bought from Hobby Lobby. This was a long process and the bride and a few of her bridesmaids worked on this for a a few weeks (75ft runner). I printed their wedding monogram using the banner format on Microsoft Publisher and printed it out. The bride used it to trace the monogram onto the aisle runner and hand painted the monogram. It turned out more beautiful than I had imagined. We saw an online site that sells rose petal aisle runners but they were so expensive. This was an alternative to the pricey one but it took some time and patience to complete the project. I think it was worth it.

DIY Table Number Frames
I posted a couple of months ago my DIY project for the Table Numbers. I bought some silver picture frames from Dollar Tree and added a roll of clear rhinestones around the picture frames. I took a Damask "flourish" that was posted on WBC and asked a friend to change the color to blue for me in Photoshop to coordinate with the wedding. We made 100 of these to go on each table. It turned out really nice.

Wedding Cake
Rhinestone Cake Banding and Cake Stand
So my brother got married this past weekend. I've been so busy planning their wedding that I haven't been posting much stuff. So I'm going to start posting pictures from the wedding and post all the DIY stuff that we did for it.

For their cake table, my husband built a 24" cake stand that he covered with the rhinstone banding that I purchased in bulk. The bride's sister made the faux 5-tiered cake that was covered in homemade fondant. We then wrapped each tier with crystal banding. I topped of the cake with the 3-intialed monogrammed cake topper that I covered with Swarovski cyrstals. Finally, we covered the entire 4ft round table with fresh red roses. The pictures do not do the cake any justice. It was absolutely stunning in person. As a backdrop for the cake table, we assembled a crystal canopy (arch) and set it up behinde the table.

DIY: Rhinestone Table Number Frame
Here's one of my latest project.. I'm making 90 of these. Purchased the picture frame from Dollar Tree and purchased some rhinestone flat backs online. Glued a row of the rhinestone around the picture frame and used one of the "Flourish" that I found on one of the post I saw on WBC. I wished the pictures were better because it looks so nice in person.

Not sure I'm going to keep the Table Number template or change it to something else. What do you guys think? Should I keep it. If so, should I make the design smaller so that there's empty space around the design.

I'll probably sell about half of the frames after my brother's wedding if anyone is interested.

DIY Swarovski Crystal Monogrammed Cake Topper
Thanks to other WBC brides, I decided to tackle covering by brother's and future sister in law's monogrammed cake topper. Purchased the cake topper and Swarovski crystals from Ebay and spent about two hours on it. My future sister in law totally loves it. I think it turned out pretty good and glad I didn't purchase the premade one.

Rose Petal Aisle Runner
So my future sister in law wanted to walk down the aisle covered in red roses but didn't want the petals to be displaced as the bridal party walkked down the aisle. So I came across a company that sells rose petal aisle runners (see 1st photo). It's quite expensive. So I thought about making my own with rose petals. I tested it out on some extra fabric and red rose petals that I had at home. In less thann a few minutes, I was able to covered an 18" x 10" area. I figured this will be a good project for all her bridesmaids. Get the girls together, with some glue guns and drinks and we should be able to do it in no time.

Red
I'm not a bride but is planning a wedding for my brother and future sister in law. The wedding will be in Houston, Texas and we are expecting 900 guests. The bride loves red but most of the wedding decor will be white and only her wedding party and bouquets will be red. It's the biggest project I've tackled in regards to weddings. We hope to pull it off.
