Ceremony/Reception Site
Pine Knob Mansion
This was the first and only place Jason & I looked. We knew we wanted to have the ceremony and the reception at the same place so people didn't have to travel in between. Plus it's pretty close to where we live.
What's wonderful about the mansion is that it is split into several different rooms, a dining room, a library for the cake and gifts, a bar room, a dance room. Meaning that Grandma & Grandpa don't have to sit by the speakers all night shouting to one another. They can have a quite converstation in the dining room while we're partying it up in the dance room. The view from the gazebo - where we will get married - it truly breathtaking. You're above the city and all you can see for miles and miles are the green tops of the trees below. It's outside, which was something else we really wanted too. I cannot wait to get married here - it's perfect! |

Wedding Hair Style
Ideas
I love how wearing your hair down looks on your wedding day but I'm not going to fool/dissapoint myself into thinking it's a great idea for me.
My hair is very thick and within hours, if I wore it down, it would be laying pretty flat, curls gone. So I'm going to wear it up so I don't have to bother with it at all that night. We plan on partying the night (and early day) away so I want hair that will stay put! These are a few ideas that I've found that I like. |

Bridesmaids
Bridesmaid Dress
I have five girls standing up and five very different figures to work with. My maid of honor & my sister, Courtney is tall and slender. My matron of honor & my sister, Mandi, is short and will have her first child seven months prior to our wedding.
Michelle is also a new mom, short and trying to work off the baby weight. Lisa will be a new mom three months before our wedding and wants something that will hide her stomache. Stacy is tall and stick thin - I could put her in a paper bag and she would pull it off just fine. I knew I wanted pink but at first I thought I would go with a more soft pink, almost a blush. One of the ladies at the bridal store told me that if I went with a light pink, it would look almost white when the girls stood next to me in pictures. So we darkened the shade a bit. Then I picked out a bunch of dresses that I liked and told the girls to try them on and give me their honest opinion. They kept telling me it was my day and they would wear what I wanted but they were buying it and they were wearing it so I wanted them to like it. They all decided on this dress. They like the gathering at the middle and the fact that it has boning as well. Plus the skirt is an A line so it will look fine on everyone. It's a Dessy - style #2510 in Cotton Candy |

Wedding Cake
Cake Topper
I think I picked up my first wedding magazine the day after we got engaged. As I was flipping through pages, tearing out ideas and stuffing everything into a folder - I saw this cake topper.
I showed it to Jason, he liked it so I tucked it away for further pondering. I found a few different ideas as well but I kept leaning towards the birds. It's more "us" to have the bird cake topper - it's a garden wedding, we're outdoorsy and this is something we'll be able to display in our house after the wedding. So I searched the web for the best price and two weeks later I had them in my hands. I love them! |
