Ask a Question
Honeymoon - If budget was no problem, where would you go?

Mark and i aren't taking a honeymoon right after our wedding, we're probably going to save up and go at a later time - maybe 1st anniversary - although I dunno - Mark wants to be a dad right away lol!

Anyway, if money was no object, where would your dream destinations be? I'm trying to think that if we save for a few years, we can go somewhere absolutely amazing!

Here are our top spots:

Mark's travelled all over with the Canadian Air Force, and his fave spot by FAR was new Zealand. He would live there if he could I think, and basically gave himself honorary status as a citizen lol. He would LOVE to go back.

I have heard about this hotel in St Lucia - Ladera. 3 walls, one is open air. All rooms are on a cliff - some overlooking the ocean, with a private whirlpool outside the room... heaven.

Also, there are hotels in Bora Bora and the Maldive Islands that are isolated and on the water... moreover, they have a glass floor. You can wake up to the sound of the ocean, and literally look over the edge of the bed, and see the ocean beneath you! LOVE IT!

In the south of India, in Goa, you can rent amazing private villas. Can do this anywhere but since my origin is Indian, maybe it's just more special here for me!

My families have both lived in Sri Lanka all their lives - even though Mom's family is originally from North India. There is a hotel there called the Taj Exotica. The name is so befitting - it is exotic and luxurious and simply stunning. It's one of the prettiest resorts I've personally ever been to.

Those are some of my picks. If you could go anywhere, where would it be?

I'm hoping to travel through Europe since once we have children that would be way to expensive to do, it would be awesome to be able to be able to do it by flying and not on the train and to be able to stay in 5 star hotels instead of three lol or go to Bora Bora that would be amazing , I tried finding flights to get an idea of the cost and i couldnt even find one from here lol and since most of the hotels are like 12 grand that is out for sure lol

Turtle Island Fiji---is my ultimate honeymoon location.  Everytime I look at it, it makes me grin.  Hopefully one day I'll be able to vacation there but it's soooooooooooo expensive!  Take a look at the website and tell me that isn't a little slice of heaven.  :-)

If I could go anywhere, It would be Ireland.  It can't happen right after our wedding because, well, the money issue I suppose.  Also, we only have a week after the wedding to travel back across the country and get into the swing of things before FH goes back to work.  Plus we have a wonderful little boy who loved his Mama and I can't picture leaving him for any period of time.  I've always thought of Ireland as just a romantic fairy tale place.  Oh to have all the time and money  we could need...

Hunafen Fushi in Maldives, the Four Seasons Resort in Bora Bora, The Turtle Bay Resort in Hawaii, or I would love to roadtrip through Europe. Hubby and I honeymooned in Jamaica, but I would love to travel to some nicer places that are more private. We were both a little disapointed in Jamaica, but we've been a few places in the Caribbean already.

Hubby promised me a dream vacation before we have kids, so we'll see. I just think once you've been one place in the Caribbean, they're all kind of the same. I guess that's what disapointed me the most. I didn't really care for the resort we went to either. It was the Sandals in Montego Bay and it was WAY crowded and I didn't feel like we had the same experience that you hear everyone rave about. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as fabulous as I expected I guess.

rmmharrison, Bora Bora is a fabulous but pricey choice for sure. Popular choice for a reason!

And futuremrsweikle, I hope he lives up to his promise and I get what you mean about the Carribean!

I'd like to go on a europe trip. For some reason, I want to go to europe, take the train and go wherever we could.
Goa is beautiful- we're there in January, 2009- a year ago- it's awesome.

tobemrsnuss and nandd2011, The Europe trip would be so great as well! And once you're within the EU, it is just so cheap to travel within it, you should see as much as you can and make use of it!

I want to travel Europe sot hat would be pretty amazing ... a one month or two month getaway. However, I think more honeymoon style i'd do BORA BORA ... oh my goodness ... seriously my DREAM!
I am in the process of getting a quote to see if it is feasible for a 1 year anniversary, but when I got a phone call today and the lady left a message saying along the lines of "you left me a quote of $4,000.00 for a one week trip, I hope you meant per person?" Which leads me to believe that unless I hit the lottery, it aint happening anytime soon.

If money was no object, I would have loved for us to spend our honeymoon at 1 of the luxury resorts on the Seychelles Islands which is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean. This is an estimated total of about $20,000 (some of the top of the line villas run about 3750 euros per night)...yikes

annerw -I missed your comment! Ireland always reminds me of a fairy tale - castles, gorgeous greenery - beautiful!

aimee114, I'm sure you'll plan a fantabulous 1st anniversary trip no matter what. But yeah - whoa. $4000 per person?! Yikes!

ladybugg, I totally forgot Seychelles! I had a childhood fascination with it because my parents always spoke about how stunningly pretty it is! That would be an incredible choice too!
