Tashasita's spice box favours. Mum's chai recipe added!

My brother had a really cute idea for our wedding favours. They are a box of spices from Sri Lanka - cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon and cloves. They just so happen to be almost all the spices that you need for masala tea, you may know it as Chai tea.
In India, Chai is the word for tea and Masala literally means spices.

Anyway, he suggested I print up a label with my mum's masala chai tea recipe on the back. I love it.

Here it is for anyone who likes chai!

MUM’S MASALA CHAI (Serves 4)

4 whole cloves, 2 cardamom pods crushed
1 Cinammon stick broken into pieces, 1/4 inch fresh ginger
3 cups cold water, 1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
2 cups milk, 2 tbsp. strong loose tea leaves or 4 tea bags
Sugar to taste

Add spices, cold water, ginger and pepper and bring to boil. Simmer on low for 5 mins. to bring out the flavour. Add tea and bring to a boil again - steep for 3 - 5 mins. Add milk and bring to a boil again. Strain into a warmed teapot or directly into warm tea cups.
ENJOY!!!!!!

I am thinking to just take white Avery labels and print this out and stick them on the box and insert the 3rd picture (in black and white) on the label. Or do you think I should attach a little business card with the recipe to the favour tag/ribbon? Our favour tags right now are pic 4.

I think labels will be neater, only issue is once they rip the plastic off the spices, the label/recipe goes with it..

I suppose I could attach the business cards with something to the bottom of the box?

Great Idea! I think I would like the way the business card tags would look..and I think it's because I LOVE favors tied on with ribbon (just cute to me), and they can keep the card..vs. the label..once they open the package..it's gone...

Here's the thing Tara. I already have a favour tag, so I am trying to keep the look neat too. Cuz a business card and favour tag could be a bit much. Right?

I love this idea, I think the labels would be a nice touch.

Oooh OK..now I'm wit cha! yeah, if you do already have a favor tag, then definately go with the label...cause then it would be a bit much.

Yeah that's what I am thinking... maybe they can gently peel it off? I think it would be easier than getting a removable adhesive for the business cards too!

But yeah, I promise to make these cute with ribbon and tag for you :)

ooh! is there anyway you can print it on the back onf the favor tag?? or stick the label on the back of the favor tag?? or is the favor tag too small??hhmmmm....just a thought...

This is greatness!! I think a label would work best and be neat and I like the clipart you chose. I personally would write down the recipe when I got home if I wanted it and then throw the label away anyway so I don't think you have to worry too much about the label going with the wrap. :)

Yeah we prolly should have done that initially but it is really small.

well to be fair im addicted to startbucks chai lattes which is kinda cheating haha. Ive had real indian chai massala in singapore tho and it was great if not better. I think I just love all indian food..... I think I was born in india in my past life lol

Denean come to my house, or my mum's. I am the weird Indian who doesn't ever want Indian food. Chai I love and there is an amazing kind of coffee they make it South India that I adore - actually South Indian food on a whole makes me happy lol. North not so much. The sauces and oils are not my friend.
