Tashasita's Blog Awards!!
Hardest task yet!
I read grateful bride's rules earlier today and I tried to pick 5 blogs I love and I just can't! I picked way more and I can't help it! Sorry SONYA! It was just too hard!
I would like to thank futuremrslee for nominating me for an award! I am totally humbled! :) Thanks lovely!!!! I narrowed it down a bit though although I agree with macbride, sooo many WBC blogs have given me awesome ideas and I love to read all of them! To me though, I picked a small number of blogs (albeit not 5 lol) that to me give me feelings of wedding envy ha! BUT I do agree with macbride that all your blogs are fab! Here is a list of blogs and the awards they have won in my mind for inspiring some jealousy and/or wedding envy (all good natured of course - I don't drink no Haterade lolol) Picture 1) To all who will be listed here and everyone on WBC. Seriously! And in no particular order: Picture 2) Beauty and the Beach Award - seasidemitten - amazing wedding - calm natural and beautiful Picture 3) All things bright and beautiful award - bananapants - self-explanatory - everything is bright and beautiful on Banana's blog! :) Picture 4) Vintage Beauty award - katavery - amazing vintage ideas! Picture 5) Shiny Happy People award - scotchminx - always happy, always fun and always awesome! Picture 6) Nigerian Princess award - sonlove2010 for your mix of Nigerian culture and your regal colour palate Picture 7) Hollywood Style Award - Nidhal - between the swag, aerial dancer, amazing eclectic menu and all the other awesome stuff, sheer glam! Picture 8) Vintage Love award - waveschick2 - awesome vintage-inspired wedding! Picture 9) All you need is love award - acowleysoontobe - between the amazing engagement shoot and the love birds and all the LOVE-ly cakes Picture 10) Chanel couture award - chanelbride - high style and all the Chanel elegance is captured so well! Picture 11) Vintage Style award - futuremrsredford - so love this blog and everything Jessica does. Very vintage and very classy! Picture 12) Pretty in pink award - netter - DIY queen and such a cool mix of pinks :) Picture 13) Shabby Chic award - aimee114 - I know she's married for awhile but she always has awesome shabby chic inspirations through her Etsy shop and also on her posts, new and old Picture 14) Divalicious award - summerbride2010 - shoes, dress, inspiration board - all speak diva and drama! Picture 15) Dramatic in black award - divinewillowmama - one of the first blogs that captured my eye, amazing and dramatic ideas! Picture 16) LOVE award - lagaylemarie and sarahdarling tied - not only for the black weddings, but for the love in your blogs towards your husbands and also the fact that I LOVED everything you both did! Picture 17) Miami Heat award - gorgeous6 - cool Miami inspired everything!! Picture 18) Unpredictably awesome award - unpredictablebride - great ideas, amazing designs for soo many of us, and just generally wonderful ideas. And kick-butt ceremony pictures! And last but not least.. Picture 19) Every girl loves the blue box award - gratefulbride - we love you just as much as we love the blue box for your ideas and your awesome ideas like this too! Ok I'm done. Again, I am not good at following rules and I'm sorry! But this was kinda fun! HA! I will follow gratefulbride's rule to list 5 things about me on this: 1) I work in insurance - don't hate me lol 2) I am having serious craving issues and fighting tooth and nail to stay on my diet the last two weeks. Who knows why, but it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaay harder now than when I first started! 3) My yoga themed bridal shower is in 13 days and I'm actually excited - was not a shower fan before - but this should be fun! 4) My interview last week was horrific - 3 hours and lots of crazy questions but I did the best I could - now in God's hands 5) I write poetry and prose in my spare time and Mark bought me a laptop last month to re-inspire my inner author. I reincarnated a children's book idea over the weekend. :) |

Wedding Flowers
Stuff I like!! Tons of Centerpiece Ideas!
Ok girls, I'm cleaning out pics and I realized I have a million different centerpiece ideas that I saved in the beginning of my planning. This is before I picked a date or colours or anything so there are fall centerpieces, fruit centerpieces, all kinds of centerpieces - centerpieces for an outside wedding, cupcake centerpieces - floral and non. There are tons I swear! LOL
Before I erase them I figured I would post them in case they give anyone ideas. :) Also, I got all these from google searches, pleeeeease forgive me if it's your pic and I haven't given you credit. Sooo not intentional, but they're just a bunch of picture files, I have no idea what sites they are from! |

Ask a Question
Wedding programs - cost and qty?
Hi all,
So I wanted to do a wedding program. I dunno why, I know they're not a necessity but I really like them lol. I am wondering for all you DIY brides, how much did it cost to make your own programs? Also, did you do 1 per guest or did you do half the qty for guests, families? I have a template that is DIY that is great, and I also know there are a couple of wonderful WBC brides who have sent me quotes. Just seeing if DIY will be cheaper... but somehow with the quotes I'm getting, it's not. This is why I do not DIY! LOL BUT, I did make programs and waterbottle labels (with Nidhal's help OF COURSE LOL) partially by myself... LOLOL |

Wedding Music And Songs
WBC Playlist Anyone?!
Hi girls,
So I spent a ton of time yesterday googling wedding playlists. I heard a super fun set of music on Friday and I am desperately trying to remember the songs that were in it and can't... I thought of an idea. Alot of you girls have reminded me of or introduced me to some awesome songs. Why don't we all collaboratively (on one post) come up with a WBC playlist? All our fave songs for a wedding. Can be any genre, anything you like, instrumental for the ceremony, fun dance stuff for the wedding, first dance songs - whatever you want to contribute is fine! Just list the song and artist and let's do this! :) I will start since this is my idea lol. The songs I can remember from the fun dance playlist were: When I Grow Up - Pussycat Dolls You Belong with Me - Taylor Swift Lollipop - Lil Wayne Meet me Halfway - Black Eyed Peas Sexy bitch - David Guetta Please don't stop the Music - Rihanna Closer - Neyo Miss Independent - Neyo Crazy In Love - Beyonce I love alot of other music for the wedding too. Figured I would list a couple of my other faves. A Certain Romance - Arctic Monkeys (I heart them!) Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leppard (old school rock girl at heart lol) Living on a Prayer - Bon Jovi (nothing is funner for me than singing this song at the TOP of my lungs) Many Rivers to Cross - Jimmy Cliff (will all the Jamaicans please beat the ceiling with me on this one?!) The Harder They Come - Jimmy Cliff Twist and Shout - The Beatles (take it waaay back and have some fun!) Jamaica Farewell - Harry Belafonte (my parents will LOVE me if I have this played lol) Don't stop till you get enough - Michael Jackson My Girl - The Temptations (classic awesomeness) You Sexy Thing - Hot Chocolate Head to Toe - Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam You Got It (The Right Stuff) - NKOTB ( I was a HUGE New Kids fan growing up - they need to make an appearance lolol - plus the dance is fun and will give us all an excuse besides the electric slide to dance as a cohesive and ridiculous unit!!! LOLOL) Kiss - Prince Ok girls, TAG YOU'RE IT! Let's make a kick-ass WBC playlist!!!!!!!! |

Paleo Diet
The scale is no longer my enemy! :-D
Ok girls, so here is my update after 6 weeks. The scale no longer makes me cry! It doens't make me jump up and down YET, but it sure is on the way! I have lost 10 pounds and I can feel and see the difference in my clothes, but mostly my confidence! Yeah, it could be cuz I just got hitched to a HOTTIE as well, but now I'm beginning to feel like I am comfortable being photographed beside him! :)
Generally and on a more serious note though, this diet definitely makes a difference in energy levels, health-wise etc. Many of you girls have requested information from Nidhal and I both on this diet (oh and again, THANK YOU NIDHAL! This diet is really making me feel and look so much better!). I figured I would post a bit of information again on it, so that you can access it quickly and easily. :) So, The Paleo diet is basically really clean eating. The second picture -called the Paleo pyramid, outlines the main things that you can eat. You cut out fats, processed foods, complex and most simple sugars other than those naturally occuring in things like fruits. You also cut out dairy and grains, and legumes (peas, beans, etc.) You eat lots of lean meats, poultry, fish and seafood, most vegetables, raw nuts, and almost any fruit. You can get really creative with this diet and find great ways to keep your tastebuds and tummy happy, and you don't have to feel deprived or hungry. It can be challenging and preparation is key! Like Nidhal first told me, if you're not prepared, it is so easy to cheat, cuz eating at fast food places can def pose challenges! Here is a list of allowed foods on the diet, as well as what you can have in moderation and what to generally avoid. http://altmed.creighton.edu/Paleodiet/Foodlist.html I will also break down some sample snacks, breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Snacks - raw nuts: almonds and walnuts are my fave but you can have many kinds except for peanuts -fruit with almond butter (you don't have to eat almond butter but it is yummy and I love it and it is a good fat) Breakfast -eggs with a slice of turkey and grilled tomatoes. Going out I can have a treat and have steak and eggs or a yummy omelette with lots of veggies but no cheese! -shake with almond milk, blueberry, banana, ice - delish!! -Banana and almond butter Lunch -salad and tuna -any kind of meat with side of veggies or salad, I really like chicken shawarma with salad on the side -stuffed tomatoes or peppers - stuffed with seasoned ground beef, garlic, onions - also delish! -stir fry without rice or noodles - chicken and veggies, steak and veggies, etc. Dinner -seafood bisque - you can use almond milk or coconut milk and tomato paste -meat (lots of options) and veggies - i had lean lamb chops the other day with homeade mint sauce and grilled veggies - YUMMZ! Nidhal and I have shared a couple of recipes and there are tons on the Internet as well for a Paleo diet friendly shepherd's pie, almond crusted salmon - can also use almonds on chicken and it's good too! You can even makes pancakes the Paleo way BUT the ingredients are not cheap and not available everywhere - you need to use almond flour (just almonds) or coconut flour (just coconuts). http://paleofood.com/baked.htm Milk in coffee - almond is better but if I'm ordering out, I choose soy. It's not suggested, but this is my only deviance from the list, and I try not to do it often. Every so often Starbucks calls though lol. Here is a bunch more good recipes as well. http://www.thepaleodiet.com/nutritional_tools/recipes.shtml Hope this helps girls! I know this diet has REALLY helped me! Love you Nidhal!!! xoxoxoxo |

Ask a Question
What's one of your fave love songs?
Straight amazing song!!! :) I know it's not new but I so loves it!
Check out this Mos Def line girls!! You are the beautiful distress of mathematics. For you I would peel open the clouds like new fruit and give you lightning and thunder as a dowry. (No I don't just like it cuz I'm Indian and the dowry is being offered by the man LMAO!!! ) This song is so baaaaaaaaaaaaaad. I'm thinking if we have a slideshow, we can use this. Or just to dance to :) List some of your fave songs girls! Can be any genre, this one is just on my brain this week! |

Pics from Civil Ceremony
Hi ladies,
First of all, thank you sooooo much for your wishes, kind words and love. You all are such blessings to me! Second, I really don't love pics of myself lol. I think I look better in person, but I love you all and you were soooo adorable in all your wishes and requests that I had to give you some pics! Yesterday was beautiful, sweet and generally a dream come true. It would've been perfect if my dad was there, Mark's closest family and some of you LOL, but we had a wonderful day. We spent the day together organizing the dinner, and then I went off to get my makeup done with my sis-in-law and that was a blast. She (MAC makeup artist) did a retro glam look with red lips that I thought was sooo pretty. Then I went to get my hair did (LOL), and I loved that too. Then I came home and I got dressed separate from Mark. We stayed apart until the officiant got there and then we saw each other for the first time. He cried when I walked in, and at that moment, my heart just felt this immediate sense of calm and excitement all at once. Calm that I was definitely trusting my heart and life to the right man, and excitement that I was marrying the man of my dreams. It was really happening. He couldn't stop crying for a few minutes and I just held his hand and looked in his eyes, and literally saw my best friend and my future. It was sooo beautiful. I don't remember the rest of the ceremony, I was kinda lost in Mark's eyes but I do remember saying the vows and saying the poem when we exchanged friendship bracelets. That's when I totally lost it and started to cry. I was strong until then, but that poem got me. As did seeing his face and his smile. That was by far the best day of my life. And he is by far, the best gift I have ever been given.. It was a beautiful and short ceremony and my Dad watched it on Skype which was cool, but I'm sure very hard for him as a father. I promised him to be as excited in August and I am sure I will be. :) I get to marry the love of my life again. :) After that, we had a champagne toast, and then had dinner. We catered in Jamaican food which was delicious and my brother and Julie (SIL) set up a gorgeous table with lots of candles and fancy plates, etc. and it was amazing. It was a beautiful night and today I woke up and I have not stopped smiling. Everytime I look at Mark, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. I know we all feel like that about our honeys, as we should. For me, I have absolutely found the man of my dreams, and I can now call him my husband. :) :) :) |
