Panic mode
Everything is soooooooooooooooooooo guh
Plans are coming together, moms are freking out... and I am ecited.

CRAZINESS.

My mom thinks everything is her idea/responsibility... and I'm not joking, she's a true bridezilla, even though I am the bride. I'm taking it all in stride though.

Ask a Question
Wedding vows???
The closer June 13th comes, the more surreal it seems. I am so incredibly excited!!!!

Nick and I have been looking for vows. We want something different, but not weird different. We met with Pastor Bill last night, and he gave us a list of suggestions, but I really don't like any of them. Should we write our vows?? Or, does anyone know of any good sources for unique vows?

Bridesmaids
oh drama
Does anyone else have the issue of girls being catty over who is the "maid of honor?" My friend Rachel is my MOD.... and Lauren isn't too happy. I decided I'd take titles off of the issue. Rachel is simply in my ceremony (since it's on a waterfall they limited how many people can stand with us) and Lauren and er can both do a toast. I want things to run smoothly, but I think it's a little ridiculous that I have to rename things so people don't get upset.

Ona better note, I found my bridesmaid dresses. Simply, comfy, and of course teal. Unfortunately, I can't get a pic :-/ I found them at Dressbarn. I loveeeeeeee them.

Ask a Question
Over-bearing moms?
So, though I don't expect them to, my parents insist on picking up 90% of the tab on mine and Nick's wedding. This is fine.... except that my mom sees it as her perrogative to plan it however she wants. SHE SUGGESTED SERVING ROY ROGERS FRIED CHICKEN AT MY RECEPTION! Now, I realize that this is a lot cheaper than my idea to have a pig roast... but atleast a roast can be made semi-formal. How do you dress up fried chicken?

So, my question is, has anyone else had this problem, and how do I ask her to stop without stepping on toes???

I stuck with my color theme, lime green, teal and orange. It was a little hard centering the monogram, but after about 15 minutes playing with it, here's the product!!

these are wooden roses.. what's great about them is that they keep forever!!! (mine are the orange in the 2nd row and the green in the 3rd row)
my cake will be covered in sugar crystals like this one
my sketch of the cake... a little pitiful, I know

DIY and save some moolah???
I love when creativity pays off..
I am really happy with how my invitations came out. I mailed them today. They were a complete DIY project- I bought two packs of 100 invitations for $15 a pack at Michaels, and I designed and printed them myself. So, all together, a little less than $35 for 200 invitations, including r.s.v.p cards. Seriously, if you're looking for an area to save some moolah, try it out!!

My aunt actually decorates cakes for a living, so she's making mine for free. I drew her a rough sketch of how I want it to look... a square 4 layer cake with teal icing and sugar glitter crystals. I also bought lime and orange wooden roses to decorate around it (I opted out of real because I figured they'd wilt in the heat).

So, I suppose I can save on a lot of things... but ironically, the alcohol is probably going to be the most expensive thing at our reception. I don't drink, in fact, I can't stand the smell of alcohol... but Nick's family drinks like they breath the stuff. 3 kegs (at $150 a pop, ridiculous), and various amounts of vodka, etc... oh geez.

now, of course my hair is a good 10 shorter, but the general idea is what I'm going for.

Ask a Question
What to do about the "do"????
Since I am getting married at a state park, I will be getting ready about an hour ahead of time and driving there (nowhere to get ready on location). So, what to do with my hair?? My hair doesn't hold curl very well, and it is about shoulder length with longer bangs. Should I attempt loose curls, or go straight??

Muddy Creek Falls in Oakland, MD (Deep Creek Lake). We will be standing on top of it, where the rock breaks up the water slightly to the left.

Registries, Waterfalls and Big Parties.
Lots of stuff....
So, I started two registries today, and it was really fun. Nick and I live together already, so we really don't need a lot...... I don't expect people to really get us stuff anyway, not necesary.

Our actual ceremony is on top of a waterfall, so only a select few people will be there. The next day we're having a huge formal cook-out, to which our ginormous families will be invited (my parents are officially stressing out because it's at their house). I never really noticed how many intricate details go into planning a wedding! Everything from the cake size to the color of the floating candles in the pond has to be decided now.... utter craziness. PLus, you know, Nick and I are doing this wedding COMPLETELY last minute. We were supposed to get married next summer, but he really wanted to get married this summer.

Wedding Dress
with a twist
So, my dress is lime green... and I love it. Nick and I have a son, so I believe it'd be somewhat hypocritical to wear white... not to mention that white looks horrible on me.
My grandmother is pretty pissed, and everyone thinks I'm strange, but it's mine and Nick's day, right???
