Absolutely beautiful facilities with an amazing history. I am probably as attracted to the history of it as I was to the place itself. I love old buildings. This was our very first venue visit. We have another appointment next weekend at a place that I think will give this one a run for its money (literally! :p), but I can see us at either one really.
I was SO nervous but it ended up being totally amazing. We could get married ON-SITE in one of several incredible spots. Aside from being visually stunning, it would save us the site rental fee(s) and transportation costs of getting married at another location. Both major pluses....that being said, the reception would be held in two "ballrooms", a great bar room, and a connecting "hall" space in between. Because the space is divided, the dance floor is usually set up in the "hall space". I see that as a potential drawback because it's not 100% in view of the seating areas and there are so many things that necessitate everyone to be in that one area over the course of the event....BUT, if the weather is clear, there is also a significant patio and amazing outdoor space where the DJ could set up....I just don't want to HAVE to depend on that particular variable, as nice as it COULD end up being.

I thought we would be ahead of the game because our wedding is still a year and a half away and we're starting everything now, but after looking at the venue's event calendar, we found out that they are already booked through most of the summer of 2012!
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DID YOU BOOK....
YOUR VENUE?
YOUR DJ?
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER?
Those are some of the major things that I don't want to screw up because I had an unrealistic timeline....
This venue is gorgeous...very similar to a place I looked at further south of us.
