Ask a Question
Church Wedding Decor?
I'm having a church wedding and don't want to use typical stage decorations. .
I love the orange/green pic. They created the backdrop with paint samples!

I also like the idea of a little color and a little traditional with the pink/orange background.

Is the white background too much white? Should it be colored curtains instead of tulle?

My wedding is going to be black/white damask with pink and blue accents.

Are there any other suggestions from Brides having a church wedding?? What are you ladies using?

I'd really appreciate the help!!

Final decisions!
David's Bridal 'dress your wedding' is so much fun!
I finally decided on what I want my bridal party to look like!! My girls absolutely love the dresses! I think they're going to look beautiful; it's a very flattering dress on all shapes and sizes and because it's so long they can wear whatever shoes they like (which is great, since most of them can't stand wearing high heels!!) I can't wait until September until it all comes together :)

What do you all think?

Cake: Opinions please?!?
I can't decide on what ideas from these cakes to use!

I love the blue cake, but I'd want to incorporate pink into it.

I also love the monogram ON the cake instead of just as a cake topper.
Any suggestions on how to mix and match for a damask wedding?

THE DRESS
I FINALLY found the perfect dress. I am having a modest wedding and there are not many places that have modest dresses! After trying on several dresses at David's Bridal and feeling very discouraged, my mom found a little shop in Lilburn by doing a random google search for 'modest wedding dresses'.
We went into the little shop and were greeted by Julia, the owner, who was incredibly sweet and helpful! She chose two dresses for me to try on.. and the moment I saw myself in her second choice I KNEW it was the one :)
I would recommend anyone looking for modest wedding dresses (or formal wear) to give her a visit!

Inspiration Board
I wanted to have a tangible inspiration board to keep in my office during wedding planning. . So I made a trip to Hobby Lobby and purchased square cork pieces (4.99 for 4!) and covered them in bandanas (.99 each!). Then I printed off the pictures that I've seen and loved and used normal push pins to secure them! I didn't attach the cork pieces together so I would have 4 smaller boards to transport in case I needed to color match!
I think it turned out perfectly :)

The Proposal
So I'm a few months behind on actually creating and posting to this site, but it looked like fun and I've seen some great ideas on here!! :)

Here is our proposal story from January 21, 2011...

It was a normal date night in Chattanooga (for me, at least). A typical date night in Chattanooga includes a fabulous dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Genghis Grill, and often followed by a walk around the riverfront (my favorite place in the world!). After leaving the restaurant on this bitterly cold Friday evening, we were walking hand-in-hand downtown when Matthew began talk about bridges; their structure, their purpose. In the meantime, right in the midst of talking and walking, he stops to look at his phone. It was a very random moment, yet I used the opportunity to dig my gloves out of my purse and put them on my freezing hands.
We began to walk again and he continued his talk about bridges, this time comparing it to our relationship, talking about how bridges lead one into new territories.
He then talked of how he had been thinking of Proverbs 31 and 1 Corinthians 13 and how I exuded all the qualities of a perfect mate. He told me he loved me and then before I knew what was happening around me, he was standing in front of me and he dropped to one knee. I looked at him in total shock and asked “Are you kidding me?”. At that moment he reached in his jacket pocket and pulled out the most beautiful ring in the universe, held it up to me and with a look of love that I will never forget he said,
“Rebekah Sara Medlin, will you marry me?”
I ripped that glove off my hand while saying yes, yes, yes and pulled him up on his feet to hug and kiss me. Everyone that was around the area was clapping and cheering and whistling. What I didn’t know was that Matthew had a photographer there capturing our perfect moment. It was the photographer who texted him in the middle of our walk, in order to tell him where to stand for the picture.
It was a perfect night and we have perfect pictures to forever remember it by.
I can’t wait to marry my best friend!!
