Ask a Question
The Nervous Bride ?

So... as I am moving closer to the big day, I seem to be picking out certain things that I am becoming VERY nervous about. So here they are in order of nervousness!

1. My fiance is insisting that we compose our own vows. This has me nervous on multiple levels! First of all, Ben (FH) is very highly educated, reads ALL the time, and has this fabulous british accent.... so his vows are going to be OUTSTANDING I'm sure. I on the other hand, have kind of a half southern half Florida-type accent, I never read, and my vocabulary is no where near as extensive as his... so I am worried about writing my vows. However, I am more concerned with saying them!I am so scared I am going to get up to the stage and forget everything, including how to speak. Even when I think about it, my hands start to sweat !

2. Walking down the isle and falling down. I know this wont happen because my Dad will be holding me up, but the fear is still there.

3. Forgetting the first dance that we have worked so hard on.
I insisted that we take dance lessons for our first dance, and it has paid off in a huge way. The first time we did it in its entirety, my sister /MOH and our instructor cried ! My fear is, is that we spent all this time and money on these lessons and I am going to draw a blank and forget all the steps!

4. Either no one we have invited to the wedding will come, or everyone will come. Our guest list is up to 300 people not including kids. Of course I know that SOMEONE will show up .. LOL. but I am also concerned that EVERYONE will show up and the bill for the caterer will be out of this world !

This is all I can think of for now, my question is... what is everyone the MOST nervous about, and what are you doing to calm yourself down ??

Thanks Ladies !!!
I am so happy to be back on WBC ! I forgot how much I love it !!

I was most nervous about:

Hubby being late - and he was.
FIL and SFIL getting in a fist fight - they didn't.
Tripping up the aisle - I stepped on m dress stepping up to the altar.
Screwing up my vows - I started crying during them and left out some lines.

All of these things happen... it's part of weddings. c: Relax - no matter what happens, your day will be wonderful!

i pretty much have all the same fears...i cannot speak in public i stutter and i sweat and its just bad..my fh is insisting on it though. i fall all the time so i'm a little scared about the walk, i also think once i see him i'm just gona forget about walking carefully and fall down. i'm gona have both my parents at my sides for safety. the dance, i haven't even learned anything because i'm to embaresed. i cannot remember dance moves. so i'm just gona go out there after drinking some wine and hold on to him...my biggest stress is speaking at the ceremony though and its gona be on video forever!

It's funny the things you start to worry about as the big day gets closer!  I did the same thing!  Here's some things that might help...
Do you have a friend or family member who could help you write the vows?  Someone who's a good speaker or writer?
Just look at your FH as you walk down the aisle.  Ignore everyone else.  When you see him,  you'll either smile huge or start crying and won't worry about falling...
As for the dance...I'm sure you'll be fine.  You'll be in the moment.   And if you forget a step, you'll just get back on.  No one will even know a mistake was there!
People will come.  There might be a couple no-shows but 99% of the people will be there!
Good luck!  Think about the things that make you happy and not stressers!

You will be ok and so will everything else!!!  We all have similar fears about our wedding day.  No matter what happens just try to relax and stay calm.  Enjoy every moment...it goes by too fast!

Thanks Nevaeh! I have to say that I hadn't really expressed my fears to my bridesmaids or my FH, so I am really glad that I posted this today because it is making me feel MUCH better !!!

OH GOD!  it makes me so happy, that everyone feels the same!  I get so nerveous just thinking about it.  I am changing a few things, like having my son walk me down th aile instead of my mother...that is a stress... I hate that everyone will be looking at me..I feel like asking them to turn around!...  My photographer is getting on my nerves...

After we say are vows I think i will be fine...it's just the whole, "walking down the aile" thing that gets me nutso!

Thanks for posting!  your not alone!
