~Our Renewals~ Alright, alright! Went gown shopping last Sunday and found the perfect gown! ...
...with 134 days left until the big day... I'm more excited than ever!
After trying on what seemed like every dress in the chain bridal stores, I was depressed and discouraged. My figure: short, straight with average breasts and a huge butt- is not easily styled.
My friends suggested that my next stop should be this small independent boutique, Bells and Bows. Of course I was precarious. One afternoon, on my lunch break and alone, I visited the boutique. I walked into the place and was immediately disappointed. All the display dresses were either bridesmaids or mother-of-the-bride dresses. After realizing there was another section, I picked out two dresses and the attendant picked out 1... which I was not visually attracted to at all. Out of courteous-ness, I tried on her pick first. Needless to say, that was the dress! I bought the dress for dirt cheap and was completely in love with it. But, after trying it on everyday for about two weeks, of course, I found flaws. It was initially a full, ball type skirt with an attached cathedral train. I realized the ruching around the mid section added weight to my already full figured bottom.
I did some research and contacted the best seamtress (Janice Roberts) in town and told her my vision. We created a totally different skirt for the dress and it is amazing! The picture is more of the silhouette. Of course, mine is more embellished through-out but this is a great teaser. LOL My dress is now a two-piece, corset bodice, trumpet cut, sweetheart neckline beauty with a detachable chapel train. The cap sleeves give the dress a kind of cheap look hence my plan to remove them. Also, I actually want more of a crumb catcher neckline... we shall see.
