Opulent Wedding Inspiration Board
If money is no object, this wedding inspiration board is for you. This collage was inspired by the picture in the upper right of a bride on an ornate spiral staircase. I imagined the wedding that would surround this bride. What would she choose if she could have anything? From the crystals on her heels to the sparkling chandeliers hanging above the grand banquet hall where the reception dinner is held, the event would be full of elegance. Everyone's idea of a dream wedding is different, but this is what I thought would be the dream of this bride.

Autumn Wedding Theme Inspiration Board
I've been inspired by the season that's just begun. The leaves are turning gorgeous shades of yellow, orange, red, brown, and green. Fall festivals celebrate the harvest and what better time to gather your friends and family together and enjoy being in love? This inspiration board includes tablesettings with pumpkins as centerpieces that are filled with seasonal flowers, a cake covered in delicate chocolate leaves, and pretty votive candles that can illuminate the autumn dusk. Your monogram can be carved into pumpkins and be placed throughout your reception venue. The bride has loose, wild curls for a relaxed yet elegant look and the lace of her dress has leaves that create a pretty, natural edge along the neckline. All of these details complete a quiet, romantic wedding that rejoices in the crisp air and the turning leaves of fall.

Royal Blue and Gold Wedding Color Scheme
This collage all started with the bridesmaid dress. I liked the form-fitting silhouette and the pickups that start mid-thigh. The rich royal blue color was something I hadn't seen very much in other inspiration boards. The bride's dress reflects the same style but stands out with a halter neckline and a gold sash. In the tablesetting the color scheme continues with royal blue tablecloths and gold charger plates, as well as introducing the hydrangeas and lilies. The light blue hydrangeas can be repeated into the light blue vests and darker ties on the groom and his groomsmen. I chose a flowergirl with a white dress and a gold striped waistband to be similar to the bride without being a "mini bride." And finally the runner down the aisle is monogrammed in gold to add elegant, custom decor to the ceremony venue. The shade of gold I chose was toward the reddish/champagne side of the spectrum and I think that warms the color scheme more than a yellow gold.

Lemon Yellow Wedding Inspiration Board
Cost-effective bright bursts of citrus fill this wedding. Line the aisle with lemons for just a few dollars. Fill vases with lemons for pretty, fresh centerpieces. The cocktails can easily follow the theme with a lemon slice on a martini glass. Sprinkle sage green around in the form of garlands along the walk to the altar and ribbon accents on the cake. This bride is laid back while donning a pair of yellow heels with her short, flirty dress. The flowergirl gets into the festivities with a floor-length dress with white ruffle trim. Completing the look are lemon yellow flowers on the cake, in the bouquets, on the groom's lapel, and in the centerpieces.

A Wedding in Chinatown
What if a bride took a walk through Chinatown and chose her wedding decor from the imports in the little shops? This inspiration board is filled with paper parasols for guests and bridesmaids, take-out boxes filled with favors, parasols in drinks, votive candles shaped like take-out boxes on the reception tables, and a chic reception hall lit in pink and blue with paper parasols suspended above each table. Have the reception on a lake and as the sun sets, launch lovely glowing water lanterns onto the water. This isn't necessarily a traditional Chinese wedding, it's inspired by inexpensive, colorful imports from China wrapped up in a romantic, happy wedding theme.

Modern Red and White Wedding Color Scheme
This collage was inspired by the cake in the center picture. The three white tiers are decorated with a red floral print with little birds and other animals. I continued the bird theme with a necklace for the bride or bridesmaids and a patterned red bird sculpture for table decor. The flowers are happy bursts of white and red including red Gerbera daisies, white dendrobium orchids, and red mocara orchids. The mood of this inspiration is happy, fun, mod, graphic, and pretty.

Purple Stripes & Bows Wedding Color Scheme
Purple: the color of royalty. For my second color scheme inspiration board, I chose shades of purple like lavender and plum. For texture I included shiny ribbons and bows. I loved the shine paired with the striped pattern of the tie in the middle. I've rarely seen striped bridesmaid's dresses and it could be a striking look with a black sash and a bride with a solid purple sash. The flowergirl might be overwhelmed by such stripes, so her dress could have a black bodice and a skirt with purple pinstripes on white. The groomsmen are wearing purple and black argyle socks and their shoes continue the shiny theme. Favors on the tables are topped with bows, the chairs are tied with thick purple ribbon bows around the back, and each tier of the cake is bordered with the clean lines of shiny purple ribbon. All of this brings a luxurious, modern feel to a traditional wedding. ...A bit of royalty even?

All White Wedding Color Scheme
Here is my first inspiration board with a color scheme instead of a theme. My inspiration for this collage was the picture of an African-American groom in an all-white suit. So I went for a pure white wedding that turns into a legendary Sean "Puffy" Combs White Party. My idea for the ceremony would be to hold it in a glass topped tent with gathered white draperies, white groundcover, and all white tablesettings. Pretty innocence is reflected with bouquets of white roses, a dazzling heart-shaped diamond ring, an adorable ring bearer dressed all in white, and an eclectic mix of romantic white antique furniture. When it's time for partying, the top of the tent could be covered in white and ultra modern white leather benches and little tables for drinks could surround the dance floor. White LED lights could change colors and set different moods for each song that plays. The cocktails could even be white -- even the underage kids could have plastic martini glasses filled with milk!

Realistic Marie Antoinette Wedding Theme
When I thought of making a Marie Antoinette-inspired wedding theme inspiration board, I decided to make something average couples could afford. I could have made a collage of pictures from the Smithsonian and country estates in England, but middle class American brides rarely have that option. So I added opulence without the enormous price with topiaries, silk fans, an ostrich feather quill pen for the guestbook, and a gold chandelier with golden apples. Also, if it were my wedding I wouldn't want to make it a literal costume party, so some of the things I chose were just nods to the elegance of the 18th century without pannier side hoops and lace cravats.
The bride could wear a white bolero with a tall ruffled collar with elbow-length sleeves, fingerless lace glove cuffs, and a cameo choker. If you want to be in a period reproduction, custom-made gowns can be less or equal to the cost of a regular bridal gown. The groom might be a little resistant to wearing period clothing, so a simple white cravat tied in a bow under a gold damask waistcoat with a turned up collar could work for him. Add a mandarin collared tuxedo and it could keep him feeling traditional enough while still keeping with the feeling of the theme. After the ceremony, let loose with a masquerade ball complete with pretty masks and then you could break out the full-on costumes. You don't have to marry a king to have the pre-Revolutionary French wedding you want. >> See more of my inspiration boards << (Photo credits: Quill pen: ebay.com; Shoes: pinupgirlclothing.com; Cravat neckcloth: aaroniemcwonley.blogspot.com; Topiary arch: gettyimages.com; Masquerade mask: flickr.com; Bouquet: floralverde.com; Pearls: pearlsjewelry.co.uk; Silk fan: beachweddingplanning.com; Bolero jacket: wed-shopping.com; Chandelier: lampsandcandles.co.uk; Tablesettings: stylemepretty.com; Chokers: ebay.com; Lace gloves: etsy.com; Stockings: audreyhepburncomplex.tumblr.com; Invitation: papeteriestore.com) |

Gothic Theme Wedding
I wanted to explore the darker side of wedding themes by making a goth inspiration board. I'm not a "Goth/Emo" girl though I understand why people would like indulging the morbid, dark part of themselves. Once I was looking for images, I realized just how many directions I could go with this theme. There could be vampires and blood, skulls, black birds and their feathers, leather and studs, white faces and creepy dolls, and it just went on and on. So I edited it down to Sleepy Hollow, gothic architecture, hearses and cemetaries, and blood red roses. There is a horse-drawn hearse with glass sides. Maybe the couple could ride inside the hearse after their ceremony on their way to the hereafter/reception? Another idea for the ring would be to have this ring and bracelet combination that covers the brides hand. Now if you happen to marry Johnny Depp (who is in the picture in the lower left) I highly recommend dressing him up just like this for your Gothic wedding ;-)
