My FI loves black & white cookies.
Mmmm, donuts. A few boxes of Krispy Kreme, yes?
A little fruit, for people who want a little less sugar.
I used to think coffee cake was cake that tasted like coffee.
Whoopie pies are apparently the next big dessert trend.
I love meringues.
Brownies
Maybe a server could distribute these at some point?
Fruit tarts
Cake is required!
We think these are a little weird, but if somebody wants to donate one, I'll take it, what the heck.

Wedding Reception
Dessert reception!

We've all but decided to do a dessert reception. It makes sense, given that our ceremony is at 1 and we'll have somewhere between 150-200 guests. The simplicity of dessert is the draw for me- the thought of spending way too much money to have someone come in and serve mediocre, lukewarm food is not appealing to me. With dessert, you lay it out on a tray, and there it is! And we've already got a lot of great ideas on things we could serve. The people who were so excited about the potluck idea could even bring a tray or two of their favorite dessert, if they're dying to contribute. Between this and choosing our photographer, I am feeling so much better about our wedding. It's going to be a blast! Any other dessert ideas, ladies?

I love your idea of a dessert oasis!  You can't really get much better than a plethora of sweets, can you?!

We're doing this too for our late evening wedding, but we're soley focusing on pies as our dessert (with vanilla ice cream on hand so guest can choose to have it a la mode).  A local restaurant has won several national awards for their pies, and we're picking up a wide variety of flavors from them for our wedding.  I can't wait!  Best of all, they will only be about $400 total.  :)

I'm totally with you on the lukewarm lackluster food I've often had at weddings.  And neither of us are big cake fans, particularly dry wedding cake with frosting so sugary it just gets scraped off uneaten.  Since that's pretty much the only option in my small town, and we wanted something different, we chose to go the pie route.

We're making our own serving trays for the pies, using fancy plates found at estate sales, flea markets, dollar stores, etc. and glueing them to sturdy candlesticks.  Much more budget friendly than buying the real ones, and they actually look really cool!

We were originaly doing this idea and having our reception start around 7 pm... however my FH vito'd me on that one and now we are going with the dinner. I still wish I could do this... why do people feel they have to do what everyone else is doing? I got so much negative feedback for this idea and still cant undrestand why... its not like i would be starving the people! there would be tons of desserts... chocolate fountain, sundae station, squares, pies, cake, fruit etc etc.... lol and then a late lunch with normal people food. As you can see.. im still bitter I didnt get my way! haha
