Trimming your Guest list.... How many guests have you cut or will cut from your list?

Ladies,

Here's the deal, my FH and I both want a relatively small wedding; about 75 people and a budget for $10K. After doing our guest list again and receiving telephone calls and emails, we have over 125 ppl wanting to come, which means more money. Just curious, if you all are having to cut your guest list? If so why? Was it hard to do? Did you face any problems when trying to cut guests that were important to you or others?

I'm still trying to cut more. I originally only wanted like 100-125 people. My venue holds 150 max. Right now I'm at like 156. My FI family is huge! Cutting is difficult, sometimes you do what you have to do. I still have to cut more. It is a challenge not offending everyone. I would love to cut from my parents list. Only problem is that all those people were invited to my sisters wedding. So what do you do?

Iam At A List Of 400 PPl Thats Family And Friends And I Need To Cute It Down To 200 Because my Mom And Dad Are Paying For The Supper. I Have A Really Big Family. And My Budget is Only $8000.
What Iam Doing Is Iam Going Though The List of Family And Who Ever I Havent Seen In The Last 2 Years Arnt Invisted To The Supper. lol Only Way I Can Do It......Every One On My FH Side Is Invisted Because He Only Have 70Ppl I Have 250 Family Members Plus My Friends And Coworks lol

Yes we had to cut our guest list. Initially we wanted 200 guests but after doing the numbers again it wouldn't make finanical sense, so we had to cut half (now down to 100 guests). thankfully we didn't have to uninvited people, we made this decision before sending out our stds

Yes by 50 people, it was a hard decision but we had to do it in order for us to stay under budget, but we are going to send tons of pictures. So good luck

Thankfully we still have 250 for sure guests, if we have to remove it would probably due to the fact someone can't make it

We are looking at about the same budget and number of guests as you are. My FH family is really really small though and mine is... not. We figured that we'd be able to get away with having a smaller wedding though. My brother got married last weekend though and now a whole new group of relatives has insisted that they're looking forward to my wedding so much and can't wait for the invitation! Now what?

I totally understand pearaholic...two weekends ago my FH and I went to his family reunion, and a new group of relatives there asked for invites, my FH is the only one of his siblings who's unmarried and his mother passed away two years ago so now the "new group of relatives" and uninvited ones feel as if they have to see their ( late aunt's) son get married; I can understand that...but majority of them didnt attended my FH's other siblings weddings or keep in touch

Originally, I wanted small-intimate approximately 100 ppI. My daughter told me I needed to wake up. Well she was right, I'm close to 200. I would love to get ideas on this and how do you do it without hurting feelings? I sometimes feel as if I wish people didn't know about the wedding.
