NWR: Homecoming<3
Nick returns from Iraq
So this is NWR at all, but I wanted to share with you ladies why I have been MIA from the site. Nick made his return from Iraq last Wednesday.
So here's the STORY: So I arrived in Kansas on Sunday evening. I got to the airport and began my 3 horu drive to my hotel. I get close to my hotel and realize that the whole road system is under construction. But with a little bit of detouring, I made it to my hotel! Well I get to Room #1 and the air conditioning is broken. Meanwhile it was about 103* outside. So I went to the front desk and asked them to change rooms. They gladly moved me. Ok dilemmas #1 & #2 taken car of! So then, I began the waiting game. Nick was expected to get in around 6:30am on Wednesday morning. So Monday, I had an appointment to meet with the realtor to get the keys to house. I put the house address into my GPS and don't you know--the road doesn't exist! (The house is fairly new construction). But with some google mapping--and my non-existant sense of direction, I managed to get to the house on time! Woo hoo! Dilemma #3 Done! So I got the keys, toured the house, and fell in love with it! We had only seen pictures of it online and then signed the lease--Daring I know, but we loved the landlord and were very hopeful! Sometime during the day--my phone stopped receiving phone calls. I could make calls and send and receive texts, but no one could call me! This was very nerve-wracking because I was waiting for an updated call for news on the Homecoming ceremony. So after about 2 hours on the phone with Verizon they "fixed" it for a little while. I also found out from my hotel that I only had a room for Sunday and Monday nights. THat meant I had nowhere to stay on Tuesday night (when Nick was coming in). OOPS! So I reserved another hotel. Whew. But when I got there the air conditioning in the whole place was broken! So I asked for recommendations for other hotles in the area and they found me one! So I checked into it and it was VERY, VERY nice! I was glad I changed! I, also, went to the craft store and got supplies to make Nick Homecoming posters and to begin making my "Will You Be My Bridesmaid cards?" So Tuesday-- I was at the nail salon getting my nails done, when I received a phone call! Nick was expected to come in 3 hours early! Yay--but that meant a 3:30 a.m. homecoming ceremony. How does one look decent at 3:30 in the morning? But Nick arrived on time and I looked pretty good for 3am if I must say so myself! I was so, so happy and I am so very glad to have him home. So in the meantime I have been getting the house set up and spending quality time with Nick. I go home on Sunday! Monday--I have an appointment to look at my #1 inexpensive Reception location! And then on Wednesday, my Maid of Honor is coming so that we can look at bridesmaid's dresses, so look for way more posts from me!! |

Wedding Dress
Will this look okay?
I got my dress for free!! It is the correct size, but it needs some alterations. My boobs are a little bit larger than most people's so the dress doesn't zip completely up. I have an AMAZING seamstress, so I wasn't concerned! Instead of having my seamstress rip the seams out of the dress, I was thinking of adding my own flair! I love lace up the back dresses, so I am going to see if my seamstress can add the loops and make it so it laces up the back! Would this look okay on my dress? Any opinions or suggestions are appreciated!!!

Wedding Dress
I got my Dress... for FREE!!!!!!!
So my dress appointment was Saturday at noon! I got into the car with my dad, my mom, my sister, and my FMIL! We drove to Philly and surprisingly found the place! It was seriously just a door that was metal bars!! We had some time to spare, so we sat in the car and chatted! Then it was time for my appointment! We rung the bell and some man came down and let us in. We walked up the steps and into a very small bridal salon!
I tried on several gowns. I hated the first three that she showed me. But then she pulled out two more. One was a princess type ball gown and the other was more traditional! I liked the princess cut one, but as soon as I tried on the other one, I knew it was IT!! The consultant told me that because my fiancé is serving in Iraq that I qualify to take the gown home that day! She also gave me a veil and a really nice dress bag!! I walked out of the store with my dress in hand and didn't have to pay a penny!!! Talk about AMAZING!!! Then we went to Geno's for Philly Cheesesteaks and it was a Pretty Amazing day!!! CREDIT: I got the dress through a program called "Brides Across America" from a salon in Philadelphia called "Philadelphia Bridal Company-Bridal Loft" DRESS: Casa Blanca style #1795; It's an older style, but I still love it!! |
