So, I was thinking about changing my wedding to a thursday evening, for the reason that is 2,500 less. Is it unusual to have a wedding on a weekday or what would you do if you could have 2500 more in your POCKET?

This was the question for us too. There were so many places that I liked that had WAY too expensive catering minimums on the weekends (like seriously double our entire budget). The reason I didn't want to do it was because you have to worry about guests taking off work. But if you're fine with it, I'd say go with it.

Funny side bit, it actually turns out that our reception site charges MORE on the weekdays than the weekends, because then they would have to staff the kitchen when normally it is closed. So we got a discount for a weekend shindig. Go figure!

Our wedding is on a Tuesday, however; it's the day before Canada Day (which is a stat holiday up here). So our guests, mostly from out of town will be taking the Monday and Tuesday off of work and then have the day off on Wednesday to travel back home. Even if the next day wasn't a holiday, we'd still get married on the week day, except probably on a Thursday or Friday instead, so people can take only a couple of days off work. I think it's a great idea. Granted, you might get a lot of flack for it, as we are now finding out, but honestly, it's your wedding and you can have it whenver the heck you want to have it!!! If people are going to come, they'll come no matter what day it is!!!! Just keep that in mind when people give you an earful about it being on a weekday!!!

I would definately go for the cheaper wedding day.  It's you who will be paying for the wedding.  That $2500 can go towards your honeymoon, any other wedding related item, a rainy day fund.  I looked at doing the wedding on a weekday, but mine was only a $200 difference...not much incentive to have a Thursday vs. Friday wedding.
