Ladies, I feel so bad! There are evil mean people in the world. i have been scammed out of $300 dollars. My fiance sent this lady $300 dollars to suprise me with a yorkie, because I have been wanting one for a long time. She pretended like she had 3 yorkies that she would give to him and all he had to do was pay for shipping. And she said that she didn't want to make him pay for them because they were her husband yorkies and he passed in a car accident and everytime she see them she think of him. Well he gave her the money last Friday and still no puppy. she pretended that she had to get a permit for them, so she said she paid 700 dollars for it. and that the yorkies were in the airport near me, but they would b shipped to my home. Well we haven't talked to her in 2 days. we tried calling her and emailing her but still cannot get in touch with her! We think we have been scammed. I'M SAD BECAUSE MY FIANCE LOST 300 DOLLARS TRYING TO PLEASE ME, BECAUSE AS OF RIGHT NOW WE ARE NOT ABLE TO HAVE KIDS. SO HE THOUGHT HE WOULD GET MY DREAM PUPPY TO MAKE ME FEEL BETTER BUT THIS ONLY MAKES THINGS WORSE. IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT THIS?
as far as being able to do anything, i'm not sure if you could at this point or not. i realized AFTER i received all the suspicious e-mails that, after taking a closer look, the classifieds website had a warning not to fall for scams that ask for a large amount of money or have odd shipping procedures. so, if it's something like that that has a warning, you may be out of luck. it's a very sad world when people have to prey on others who just want to take in a pet to love. i am so very sorry that this had to happen to you.
=[ just know, i have read other people's stories since then , so you are not the only one.
Here is some advice: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Do not ever buy an animal sight unseen!!!! People will have photos of cute puppies and you'll pay crazy fees to buy them and then ship them and more often than not the puppy that you receive is NOT the puppy they have posted on the website!!! I encourage you to go to the Humane Society's website and watch the video on this page: http://www.hsus.org/pets/pets_related_news_and_events/virginia_the_next_puppy_mill.html
Unfortunately you were a victim of a scam but hopefully you will never fall for it again! It's so sad that people do this! It happens EVERYWHERE I hear about it almost everyday!!!!
BUT....I HIGHLY discourage buying a pure breed puppy from anyone else than a reputable breeder. You don't know the medical history of the puppy or the parents. You can get a puppy who is sick and needs constant medical attention. People who breed for money often breed dogs regardless of their health issues. Yorkies are pre-disposed to a lot of health problems if not being cared for properly.
All pure bread yorkies have to be AKC registered which costs under $50.
$300 for a yorkie is nothing, that should have been a first warning sign.
Try to get your money and do not get a dog from this woman who obviously knows nothing about them. I spent months researching yorkies before I purchased mine. I emailed and spoke to several breeders before deciding on the one I felt most comfortable with.
I'm not sure how long you would have to wait to file a police report but if you still try to contact her and nothing do that.
Do you have any emails or voice mails from her that she's selling you the dog?
Research research and research before you get a dog, especially a pure bread like a yorkie.
