Wedding Reception
NO OPEN BAR

So orignally, FH and I planned on having an Open Bar at the wedding but after some careful consideration we have decided to cancel the open bar.....& guess what I saved us almost a $1000...we decided that we did not want our guest to take advantage of the liquor and over do it, which we know that both of our families would.

We have decided to do a cash bar and a wine fountain!!!

Ladies do you think my guess will be upset??? Should I care???

Also, did I mention FH and I are not DRINKERS!!!!!!

I know there are people who would disagree, BUT I agree w/ you! There are arguments for both sides, so really it's up to what's best for you and your FH. I can't justify going into more debt just to make sure people get drunk. Plus hun, I've come to realize that ppl will complain about your day no matter what! good or bad, in your face or behind it. So do what's best for you both and don't worry a lot about it
.
Luckily unlimited wine is included. FH's cousin said as her gift she would do a champagne sculpture for reception. I'm like that's fine. But if she doesn't do it then oh well.

We are drinkers, but at the same time, everyone might not stay @ the hotel and will have to drive home. So I don't want people driving home and crash b/c they didn't have a limit on the drinks. Plus we really do have a lot of non-drinkers and it would be a waste of money even more.

I just worry about if I'm supposed to warn them it's a cash bar or not somehow. So I'm curious to know how you're going to let them know! LOL! Be confident in your decision girl!

Our location allows you to purchase a certain amount of alcohol that can be served at our expense and anything else that the guests want they pay for. Once what we've paid for runs out, that's it. I originally wanted an open bar but became concerned about the liability of providing free and unlimited alcohol. If someone gets in an accident...it's on us. So we'll provide certain beers and wine...maybe a signature drink like a mojito bc my FI is Cuban but anything else is up to the guests.

Thanks Ladies....more so than not we will do a wine fountain...I too am very concerned with the liability of providing unlimited alcohol especially knowing that our families are heavy drinkers and often dont know their limits!!!!
