Needing to Vent
aarrrrrgggh!!!
Alright so my wedding has been a drama free zone until today. A little back story first. My grandmother's sister (Mina) lives in Idaho, she and I have never had a relationship and honestly I dont like her very much. I am only inviting her to the wedding out of respect for my grandmother and her daughter who I am quite close to. Ok so today I get a call from her daughter Christy letting me know that Mina is making her plans to come down for the wedding, mind you I have not even sent out the invites. She wanted to inform me that she would be bringing Christy's daughter Tamie and her daughter Morgan with her. To add another layer to the dislike...Tamie is my cousin whom I have not had much of a relationship with and who has always been very cold to me. Her daughter Morgan is even worse than her mom. Tamie always has said she is a "bitch" and that her goal was to make her daughter one. Goal accomplished. I had no intentions of extending an invite to either. And for that matter why would they want to come to my wedding anyway. Next I hear that my Aunt Christy's son will be in town that week and that she plans on bringing him to the wedding as well. He has never been around the family, so much so that I have only met him twice my entire life. I have to say I was taken aback to this news as 1) I was not planning on extra guests 2)that invites were a free for all to MY wedding. Mind you that having them means having to rent an additional table and linens, order another centerpiece, more favors, etc....) I informed Christy (nicely) that we are at our budgets limit on guests and that I didnt think I could accommodate these extra "crashers" ...um I mean "guests". Her response to me was..."well why did you choose to get married in such an expensive place if it meant you cant afford to invite your whole family?"... WTF!!!??? Is that any of her business? I said "because this is where we (brian and I) wanted to get married and that we were planning OUR wedding how WE wanted. I am not even inviting my father's brother (they cant come anyway) but its principle. Brian and I have both made exceptions where invites go. I have people who live right near me that I would love to have at my wedding but can not invite because it will push us over budget. Matter of fact: IT IS BRIAN'S AND MY WEDDING AND WE WILL DO WHAT WE WANT! After all we are paying for it. SO my question is am I being a bitchy bridezilla or am I within my rights of defending what we want? And should I simply call Mina and tell her that I will not be able to accommodate "her" extra guests. I dont want to start WW3 with my family but I also refuse to be railroaded by family, especially ones I am not that fond of in the first place. HELLLLPPP! |

Wedding Gift Registry
We just got our first official gift!
So I just got home from work and there was a package from Target. I thought it was odd because I had not ordered anything. I opened it and it was one of our registry items! I screamed with glee...how exiting! It is from an old high school friend who lives on the East coast. She had a note that said...We're sorry we cant be there for your shower next weekend but we wanted you to have a little something from us...Love C & N. SO I have to admit I did take a peek at the registry and people have started buying stuff! This is making everything start to really feel real! |

still so sad.....
So its only been two days since Shelby left us and Im still just in shock. I just cant believe how in a matter of 24 hours I had a healthy vital horse who just depleted so quickly and then left us so suddenly. What is even harder is that my other horse who is now here alone has been screaming for her ever since she passed. It kills me to hear him cry for her. I am going to move him to a friends house this weekend so he can be with other horses. I dont want him slipping into a depression and thus losing him. I've lost many animals over the years but for some reason this time is just really hard on me. So much so that I dont see myself getting another horse anytime soon. The bond she and I shared was intense. Even down to her last few moments on earth she was intent on following my voice and if I was not right at her head she would start to thrash around looking for me. So I let others take over what needed to be done and I sat at her head and stroked it, talking to her. I held her head as she drew her last breathe and blew her last exhale. I told her how I loved her and that I knew one day we would ride together again! I was going to use Shelby in a trash the dress session. It was something I was really looking forward to, and now the opportunity has slipped away from me. I know I did the right thing, but I cant help but beat myself up either. I hate having to make the decision to take a life however on the flip side I am grateful that we as humans can give our animals the peace they deserve when they are suffering. If only we could do the same for our human loved ones. The picture at the left is from a friend. She said that she was leaving the gym shortly after I had called her to tell her I had lost Shelby. She looked up into the sky and said this is what she saw. She said it was Shelby running thru the heavens. If you look close it does resemble a horse like shape. She said she had to send it to me so I would know she was ok and looking down on us! ::tear:: |

I am sooooo Sad
Well today is a sad day. I lost my horse to colic this afternoon. I cant believe how fast it can go from just a minor issue to a life and death situation. And I cant believe she is gone. I have had her since she was 3, she was 16. We won multiple championships and had so many great times together. I just have to hold on to those memories now and now that she is now galloping through greener patures, no longer in pain. I know I will ride her again someday! |

Smashing cake in the face
this is just wrong!
Ok so I know that many people do this and its gets a great laugh but I think it is childish and tacky. I have already warned Brian that this will not be happening at our wedding. He laughed at first and I told hin not to forget that there is a knife with in reach (lol, jk) but then he said he completely agrees. Thank the Lord! What is the point of spending money on makeup and hair just to have a face full of cake that must be washed off and thus needing to reapply makeup? Not to mention if it gets on the dress, the money it will cost to get rid of it. I would be furious if my dress got ruined just for the sake of a few laughs. I suppose if you are having a really casual occasion, it might be laughable. But when you are spending thousands of dollars and are having an upscale formal event this is just a no-no! Well in my book it is. So what do you ladies think of it? Do you plan on giving your new hubby a face full of frosting or will you be skipping on this activity? |

Garter
What will you do?
So I am curious to know how many of you ladies will be wearing your garter on the left leg, which is what tradition says is proper? And how many of you will go against the grain and wear it on your right? I myself will be wearing them on the left leg! I can't wait to see Brian blush when he takes the dive under the gown! |

I'm Flattered
by your requests
So many of you girls have been emailing me about the water bottle and candy labels. Thank you for your kind comments and requests. I am trying to fulfill them as quickly as I can. I just have a request for all of you. My wedding is two and a half months away and I am in the last stages of my own DIY. I am ever so happy to do these labels for you gals, I just have to fit that in between my own projects and work (yeah that little thing). So what I am doing is this.... I am fulfilling them by wedding dates. If your wedding is in 2009 I am trying to get them out to you asap. For you girls that have a year or more until your wedding date I am putting you further down the line. I just wanted you all to know I am not ignoring you, just trying to stay on top of my own things and help those who need them in the nearer future. I am happy to take the requests, just please be patient with me! Happy DIYing everyone! xoxo tobemrsf |

DIY Wedding
our water bottles
Well here they are! Im quite happy with how they turned out! I hope all you girls that I've helped with these will be as happy with yours as I am with mine. FYI...use the Avery White Shipping Labels #8165 8.5"x11". They are smudge free and the adhesive is awesome. No need to tape the edges. I am still debating on whether or not I am going to cover them with clear shipping tape to waterproof them...? I guess it will happen if time permits. |
