Some detail shots
Some shots of detals like flowers, toasting flutes, cake and table decorations. Instead of table numbers we decided to pick 13 different cd albums that meant alot to us and use those, on the back of each escort card is a mini picture of the album. The favors are cds, the first cd has a favorite song from each album, so 13 songs total, the second cd has key songs from our wedding. The unity candle is a vase with our date etched on it (I did it myself!) and a floating tea light, with glass marbles at the bottom. It looked spiffy, sadly it was too windy that day and the unity candle ceremony didn't work so well.

It's been over a month...
sorry I'm such a slacker, it was a wonderful day.
Things kind of got crazy after the wedding. By the time I had a chance to blog about it, it was weeks later and I was experiencing saddness it was over. Also, work has been uber stressfull and we are in the midst of moving.
But the wedding was amazing. It rained a little that morning, but it cleared and dried up in time for the ceremony, so we got to have it outside! It was very windy though, which made the unity candle part pretty funny, but oh well. The reception was a blast, everyone had a great time, even people who normally never dance did dance, and we owe that entirely to John Saville, a radio DJ and amazing guy whose been doing wedding receptions. I know many are trying to save money on their wedding and budget wisely, but I'm really glad we chose to splurge on the dj and cut back on table centerpieces and favors, I think it made the guests happier. |

I'm getting married tomorrow!
It says today, but really it's tomorrow, it's not saturday here yet. I'm sorry I haven't been updating, I've been incredibly busy. I'll post more when I get back from the honeymoon, I'd write more, but we have company and I'm being rude.

Ask a Question
Who else is supporting small buisnesses?
In today's economy I know it's mostly about bargain hunting. And I know big companies often can afford to give better bargains. However, my personal feeling is the big business monopoly is a contributing factor to our bad economy and intrinsically against the whole concept of the "American Dream". Think about it, these big conglomerates are run by rich people who can afford to give you a bargain because they underpay their employees and export work and goods to other countries as much as possible.
With planning a wedding the temptation was there for me to go with David's Bridal, Bella Photography, be lured in with contests and prizes. For the most part I went with all local small businesses and personal references and I have confidence in the hardworking, ethical people I have chosen. The one concession I had to make was with florists. Small private florists charge an awful lot the moment the word wedding is uttered, and flowers die, I would have rather knitted flowers or made them out of paper before going to a florist, but my mom really insisted I needed fresh flowers. I was going to try and grow them myself, then realized that was biting off more then I could chew. So I went to stop and shop and am getting all the flowers for around $120. I'm slightly ashamed but at least stop and shop is a fairly good company and I really like the head florist there...she really worked with me to keep costs down while still getting the look I want....and seeing as that look is fall colors with less formal flowers and y wedding is October that's pretty easy. Um, hope I don't get lynched for this post and if you chose to go with bigger companies that's fine, I know the majority does, most of my friends have. That is why I'm asking if anyone else is trying to make it a point to go with Ma and Pop's to support their local communities. I hope this doesn't upset anyone. |

DIY Wedding
Pretty Jewelry!
I did serious crafting yesterday and finished earrings for myself and one of 3 necklaces for my bridesmaids. So far so good I think, maybe I'll do a bracelet for the flowergirl as well.
Opinions are welcome! Oh and BTW, my earring ended up costing a bit under $5! The bridesmaid necklaces I'll estimate about $10 but I'm not sure. |

Hand knitted accesories
I hand knitted myself a garter and my card bag. The card bag still needs a strap but I couldn't wait to share, I'm so happy with both projects. Both took only one skein of caron spa yarn (it's a silk/bamboo blend), and the skein cost about 5 dollars, so I made a bag and garter for around 5 dollars! Not bad.

Ask a Question
Which Color Combo for DIY Gift box?
I'm at a loss, I picked wine and orange and apparently many think it's a garish combination if not done right....I'm not sure if it's too bold for such a big object, so I was thinking of doing the boxes themselves in ivory to look more like wedding gifts and just adding wine/orange ribbon touches, maybe some flowers to make tiny splashes of the orange accent. Opinions or suggestions?
BTW: excuse the quickly slapped together image, I can do better, I was just in a rush. |

Bridal Shower!
What a great party!
My mom and sister (MOH) outdid themselves it was fantastic. We had to make it into a jack and jill because we reserved a place for 50 people and a huge chunk of people (like 20) rsvp'd no. And as it was we were still 5 people short. I couldn't believe what a big deal they made of it though, with that huge place and huge cake, I was a bit overwhelmed. I was glad FH got to see all the presents though and watch my reactions to them....and people who he worked with seemed to like it too, since they had him in mind while buying them.
Oh and the funny hat which my flower girl and his long time friend Holly did was insane, the balloon is actually attached to the hat and it has ribbon "hair". I wasn't really as angry as I look in that picture, I think someone said a joke to me and I shot them a dirty look. Oh and people kept saying what a good looking bridal party I have, and I have to agree! ;) |

Ask a Question
makeup trial, do you like it?
I had my makeup trial yesterday. I think I like it. I think what I don't like is not the makeup's fault. I don't like all the hair on my face and I don't like the visible pores on my cheeks and nose. If anyone knows of a good way to minimize the pores please tell me.
Also I sent the artist this video as inspiration: She didn't have the exact colors so it didn't come out quite as bright...what does everyone think, does it look great as is or should I ask her to get the exact colors? |

Ask a Question
Which bag?
I'm knitting myself a card bag to hold gift cards at the wedding. I found three patterns I'm considering. I'm really leaning toward the cabled bag, because I enjoy knitting the cables and I love the beaded handle idea, combine with the gorgeous button.
Which one do you all like? They would all be in white of course. |
