My wonderful Chris had but one request in the beginning of our planning...

"I want veto power".

Ummm, Ok. Clearly he is delusional. Here so far is my list of Chris veto power (sigh)

He is in bold

Part 1- Ohhh!! I want a photo booth!! Pleaseeeee!!

"Oh God NO!! That's Tacky!! VETO!!"

Really Chris? I think their really cool. People will have so much fun with it!

"No, tacky"

Guess what! I can get the photo booth for FREE!! (seriously)

"Even for free, I don't want it"

Well, thanks for your input sweetheart!! I'll be getting that FREE photo booth anyways. My Maid of Honor said she will throw it in the lobby and he will never see it hahahah!

Part 2- Chris I HAVE to get a birdcage veil!!

"What the hell is that?"
(Shows him the picture and his face goes blank.)

Isn't that CUTE!!!

"Yeah, cute if your my Grandma!!" (again actual quote lol)

Really? You don't like it?

"No, not really"

Humm, interesting.
Heres my latest Esty purchase:

Part 3- Chris, we are re working my dress. Do you like it so far?

"Yeah, it looks really nice...ahhh what is THAT?" (he points to my black sash)

Uhh, it's a sash.

"Is that black?"

yeah..why?

"Don't like it!!"
(he says this like a 2 year old. Our Daughter Emmy use to say it for everything when she was younger so he has coined her phrase)

Chris, I want a black sash..its my vision
(blah blah blah he heard nothing I said at this point)

"Don't like it"

I then Called my Cousin and maid of Honor..

"He said what!!? Hahahahha!! (then more laughing) Since when do you not get what you want Shayne?"

My response: I feel guilty though.

Cousin: "Do you honestly think hes going to look at you on that day and say what the HELL is that sash and thing on your head?"

I giggled..HECK NO.

Part 4- The bridesmaid dress. Veto power HERE? Apparently so lol!!

Picked the girls dresses!! The guys cant wear silver now though because the dress is black & white and not all black. I then showed him our pick:

"Thats nice. Why cant they wear silver?"
It wont match really (He wants a silver vest and tie the dress top is white even though you can not tell from the photo)
"I wanted color!"
Since when?

"Dont worry about what they guys are wearing Shayne, I'll take care of it"

GASP!!! GASP!!! GASP!!! GASP!!!

I seriously sat there with tears in my eyes getting visions of Miami Vice suits in a foil silver with loafers and no socks..

No you wont..VETO!!!

Maybe I am a bad person for letting him feel he has veto power when in reality he doesn't.

It seems he doesn't agree with me and my decisions just to make me happy. The nerve!!

lol he is quite involved...my FH has veto power for a few things also... when he says no..i know he means it cuz he doesnt care about much wedding stuff haha. I pretty much plan the wedding at this point without consulting him...he gave me a budget and i do the rest...he is happy and so am I....and i have full creative freedom lol

I shouldn't laugh, but I did!! Men just don't understand sometimes. I am sure that he will be thrilled with the big picture in the end- and lets face it- you will rock whatever you are wearing. As for him, be sure you have VETO power with his suit!!

I told Mark he could veto too not thinking he would care about certain things. I wanted no chair covers, he did... Weird lol. I wanted cupcakes, he vetoed for cake, I wanted all carribean food, he added Indian ( funny thing is I AM the Indian one- guess we take for granted the norm lol). I wanted to wear a sari, he wants my outfit to have a train cuz the first wedding he saw was Princess Di's with her crazy train! Sigh... Lol! I had no idea I would create a veto-ing machine!!! I feel you girl! I just have to laugh, I totally did this to myself!

Love this post, I laughed out loud at work! VETO! Such a guy thing right! lol I agree with Tanya, you will rock out whatever you choose for your big day, just let him think he has a say so and he will be fine! He prob wont even remember half of his vetos by the wedding day!

I'm glad you were able to laugh at this post. I was kinda angry when I realized how much VETO power my FH had. In fact, he's vetoed just about everything that I've seen in my vision so far except the dress cause he can't see it.

OMG I can NOT believe I am not alone in this area..what is with men and the word VETO? LMFAO!!! They act like its their wedding too or something *winks*

haha definatly have to pull out that VETO card at the end of the night, just for a teaser!! ha the look on his face will be priceless!

LOL..you're too funny! (the suit...I definitely would keep an eye on that...Miami Vice..LOL!) Maybe I'm a lil old-fashioned but my FH will not see my dress(have zero description of it) 'til I walk down the isle! I want him to be blown away and he most definitely will because I have chosen a strapless B & W dress(so not me but fell in love with it!) Also I am a stay at home mom/school teacher(I homeschool our daughter) so he's the only one that works. And you think he would want say in everything...NO! He's a yes dear/no dear kinda guy....love him to pieces!! (Guess he trusts me after 16 1/2 years :) The only thing he wants is to make sure we have plenty of good food and drinks( Doesnt want us running out!!) And as for the planning, I totally understand your stress...doing it all yourself.....but someone has to do it and if you want it done a certain way...best to do it yourself ! Anyways thanks for your posts....brings a smile to my face.I'm sure evrything will turn out the way you want and will be just perfect!! You definitely will be a beautiful bride!!

This made me laugh, it was so funny! As selfish as this sounds, the wedding has always been the "childhood dream" of most women. They've conceived ideas for that day for years so I think its only right that women have VETO over the extremely important things like...............EVERYTHING LOL!!! I'm kidding, jokes aside, I don't see anything wrong with the groom having minimal input if it doesn't involve some crazy idea like arriving to the wedding in a speed boat to the James Bond theme lol! Yup, making him think he has Veto is a bridal must! lol
