The Unpredictable Boards
OK here is my September 17th reception all laid out:
Board 1 is as follows: Me in my dress, the BMs dresses, Flower girl dress, Jr. BM dress, the girls flowers and their shoes and necklaces. Everything is bought and paid for..PHEW! I just need to find Emmy (Flower girl) some spunky ballet flats! Next - The line up!! (with the tuxs) If anyone is looking for a GOOD build a tux, you can find it here: http://www.jimsformalwear.com/build_a_tux.htm Emmys flower girl dress has roses on the hips, I am going to switch the black roses out with red ones for her pop of color I think!! The next is the "vision" for my reception. The tables will look as pictured. The bottom right of the table set up shows the centerpieces. They are silver blows with red roses. We will have red up lights and the checkered dance floor. The head table will be lit up with twinkle lights (not pictured) and have black swag pieces as well. PHEW!! It looks like its coming together for ONCE!! |

What deal!!!
I decided I wanted my girls to have red shoes with their black dresses..I started my hunt. It didn't take me long to find these!!
OMGGGGGG! $11.99 a pair..then get this, I added them to my shopping cart..they came up only.... $8.39 A PAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have them in black too!! I quickly sent a text to all my girls and got their sizes. They may not be comfortable but I told them all they can change their shoes after pictures.. SCORE!!!!!!!!! 5 pairs cost me 50 bucks!!!!!!! YIPPIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am waiting on one BMs size and I have to wait until tomorrow to place the order, until then I am not posting the site or brand haha! Dont need all my red ladies buying out my clearance shoes sizes LOL!! Sorry, Love ya all but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!! ordered and BM dresses too!
Today I picked and purchased my daughters dress. I say flower girl but she INSISTS shes a junior BM lol.
I love it! She will be getting the one in black but I uploaded the same dress in another color so you can see the detail on the waist. TO CUTE!! DESSY Flower Girl Dress FL4022 Halter style flower girl dress in matte satin has full back and wide waistband, hand worked flower detail and full pleated skirt. Also..all the BM dresses officially ordered. PHEW!!! They all got measured and made deposits on time. |

Ok, I am shaking!! Today I got my retro Audry dress in the mail and OMG!! Its is soo perfect in EVERY single way!! PERFECT FIT!!
I can not THANK this Etsy seller enough.. The shoes I am wearing are NOT the ones I am wearing with my dress. Those are at my FMIL house (these shown are shoes I have) YAY!!!!!!!! IM GETTING MARRIED!!! I am more excited about this dress than my formal reception gown!! This dress I purchased on a whim, you all know what issues I had picking out the formal gown because I am so thin etc..I can not believe how this dress looks! It gives me a shape!! PHEW!!!!!! best place for pocket fold envelopes?
I have designed a ton of invites where the bride uses pocket folds..wheres the best place/cheapest/DEPENDABLE place to find them? I found this picture and I think I HAVE to do it. Simple to make, just need the pocket fold for it.
The FH is gonna kill me, it's going to cost more. Oopsie!! The picture posted looks as though it would need an envelope. Was hoping for the kind where I wont need the envelope. Help!! |

OK, time to be honest! Weddings haven't happened much in my family. They kind of go in spurts. The last "real" wedding was 10 years ago and it was my Cousins. On my Fathers side, the last wedding was my first one and that was over 12 years ago!
The wedding industry has changed drastically in the last few years. Brides are not the same. Out is taking pictures in front of a back drop. In are candid/photo journalistic shots. Brides are rocking colors, having candy bars and using up lights Cakes are now more over the top! Gone are the days of the "normal" cake. We have monograms filled with rhinestones, cakes covered with fondant rich in patterns, ribbons and even brooches as accents. Card box?What is that? Brides use birdcages or like myself..a big vase! If they are using a card box it is 6 layers covered in fabric and decorated with amazing embellishments! We are bringing props, making vintage photo walls or even using photo booths! Lets face it, in my family...my wedding will shock and take the breath away of almost all my guests. Not because we are spending tons of money. Because it is different than what they are accustom to seeing. In my planning I have gotten a lot of resistance to this change..meaning some look at me wondering WHAT THE HELL I am thinking. A photo booth? Checkered dance floor? What do you mean your changing gowns? Whats a reception dress? WHAT ARE THESE MUSTACHES ON A STICK FOR? Whats wrong with the bud vase and centerpiece the reception hall provided?" WHAT are chair covers? Their HOW MUCH? Why do you need a sash tied around a chair? You're MAKING the invitations? WHY?? What is a photo share card and why do you need it? What do you mean there will be no favors? Theme? Whats a THEME? You need a theme? Your shoes are BLACK!!!??? (That caused a million gasps by the way!) This list can go on forever... I wonder if people looked at wedding gowns in the 80s and early 90s wondering what the bride was thinking with poof sleeves that reached heaven (along with her hair) and the god awful iridescent green bridesmaid dresses covered in bows.. Probably not. So why now? Why are my decisions being looked upon as I am weird? I guess even though the Brides gown was 8 feet wide in poof..she still wore white shoes and didn't change her dress. Change. It happens folks..even in the wedding industry. I wonder why people (family & friends mainly) look at brides NOW like they are crazy? Regardless, all of this is causing pressure on me. In my family the next wedding may not happen again for another 10 years. I can only imagine the awe in my guests faces when they see what I created in my little head. I KNOW it will be nothing they have EVER seen before. That's pressure!! Exhale Shayne. Exhale! Has anyone else received not so great reviews when they talk about their wedding "ideas"? Do you think your guests will be stunned (in a good way) when they see what you have created because they have not been to a wedding in 10+ years? |

Broken heart..what a shi**y day!!
Today my MOH called me, she is also my Cousin. She said I need to call my Brother and it was important..
I called him. Today he informed me he had enlisted into the Air Force. I lost it. My baby brother will be 21 tomorrow... I am NOT against it by any means, I am just a selfish sister. Our other Brother was in the Air Force for 4 years after 9/11. He made me very proud..but this is my BABY brother, it's different. I understand why he wants to go and I am VERY proud. He wants something out of life. He wants a career and a family. Something very few people in our family have. He wants to become a police officer and with out a degree, it just doesnt happen anymore. His goal is to be in the Military Police and eventually work on the K9 unit in Dallas. I am still a selfish Sister and dont want him leaving ME!! He said he will do everything to make my wedding ( cries ) Another bomb.. I have a strained relationship with my Mom. Long ass story. Anyways, my Brother said I should call her because as of now..it doesn't look like her or my Step Dad will be going to my wedding. I have been nothing but tears since I woke up this morning. |
