Cupcakes or cake?

I think I am changing my mind? I am in love with cupcakes right now. The bakery said our cake was going to be nearly $440.00 and now I think I want this! Are you doing cupcakes or cake?

I was thinking to do both! Have a smaller, fancy cake for us to cut into (maybe about 3 smaller tiers) and have a bunch of cute cupcakes! :)

I am actually doing a smaller wedding cake and having a dessert bar and s'mores bar. There will be about 10 different types of desserts.

I was going to do cupcakes with a small cake on top too, but when I saw the price was almost the same I decided to come up with my own hybrid. I had 3 layers with 2 tiers of cupcakes in between the cake layers.  The first tier of cupcakes were regular size and the 2nd tier were mini cupcakes.
Plus it gave us 4 flavor options, 3 for each cake layer and 1 for the cupcakes. I have a post of my cake on my page with photos.

We are doing both the cake is for us and everyone but the cupcakes are being made by my FH's uncle he owns his own busniess called T-Cups..so that will be going on our dessert bar.

I am undecided. I really like a wedding cake with messy buttercream frosting (I don't know what it's actually called, but it looks messy). However, the venue we want - and every other venue I have found - charges an extra $1.50 per slice just to cut a cake and serve  it. This adds significantly to the cost of any cake. So now I'm thinking cupcakes but with one cake for groom and I cut (we're thinking cheesecake!!!!!!!!!). Now, I prefer the cake to the cupcakes so if the price turns out to be basically the same...I'm doing cake. lol

I keep going back and forth too. I want a small tiered cake, then I want gourmetfied cupcakes with white chocolate seashells added?  sigh....don't know yet?  I love your photo, it is so pretty!
