Were my expectations too high?
Hello everyone! We are back from our honeymoon in Florida..which was absolutely FABULOUS!
Okay...so I guess I had my expectations set to high about the reception. The ceremony, hall, etc. looked beautiful and went off without any snags. But when it came to the reception it just seemed to me to never really get to a REALLY FUN part. I had planned fun annoucements (those people didn't show up!), kids section went off good, we ran out of food (everyone did get to eat something). Then my husbands guests were gone by 9:30-10:00! We had all these RSVP's and huge hall, etc. and people didn't show...HOW RUDE!! I am so upset with some of them. There were a few that contacted us and offered an apology, etc. But, do people not realize what planning, etc went into this?!! GRRRRR!! Then I looked at some of the pictures that were taken by people and couldn't believe how I looked!! I am only posting the pictures on here that I like a little. My makeup was too dark, my hair didn't hold (yes I did test runs on this stuff). ....and I started weight watchers today! I can't believe I have let myself get like this. However, my sister looked GORGEOUS! I'm so happy for her! On a positive note...the kids had a great time!! Which I am really happy about because I had focused a lot of fun on kid and family fun. Our first dance went great and everyone loved it when the kids joined in...my husband and I started out together alone on the dance floor to Jack Johnson "Better Together"...then 2 mins into the song..the A&T Drums started playing...we pulled Glow Sticks out and started drumming, then it went into Bubba Sparx Ms. New Booty for 15 seconds (I did my dance), then Def Leppard Pour some sugar on me-my husband did his dance..Then the Cupid Shuffle played and the kids came out and did the dance with us...then back to the last 30 seconds of Jack Johnson. Everyone loved it! Which for me was the highlight of the evening. I think for our 5 year anniversary and 50 pounds gone (thanks to Weight Watchers!) we will go back to Florida and renew our vows with just our kids. I can't express how thoughly disappointed I am with my appearance at the wedding. I don't even want to do any wedding stuff anymore. I am so glad it's over with! Wedding Reception

My FH and I went to the hall this past weekend to check out the layout one more time. I'm glad we did..it's been months since the first time we had been there. We both had forgotten how large it was. We sent out over 220 invitations and have gotten back nearly all of them! We are going Friday night to decorate and rehearsal is at 7:30. Then Saturday is full of nail and hair appointments..then 6pm is the BIG EVENT!! I think everything might work out alright!!
I will post lots of pics as soon as I can! This site and other brides have been such a welcome help for more than just wedding planning. I told my FH it's almost like you form bonds with these other women from all over the world and some are going through exactly what I am so I have someone else to talk to about everything I am feeling! Much love to all of you! |

Wedding Reception
Less than a week to go and I'm exhausted
WE are at the 7 day and counting down...but I'll tell you I am so exhausted I can barely make it until 9pm every night. I think I will honestly be glad when life returns to normal.

Getting Closer!!
Last full week
 This is the last full week before the wedding!! Things left to do: Card box/basket--I think what I am going to do is take a big wicker basket and decorate it with pink-brown ribbon I have and that will be done. Get the girls their tights and my nylons. confirm hair and makeup appts. for me and the girls confirm food and location and rehearsal time. I'm sure there is other things I am forgetting. |

We are going out tonight with ALL of our friends for our "We are getting married party!"
We are meeting at Hooters first..then heading to a local Sports Bar and Restaurant for the party. After that...there are no plans...we will see where the night takes us! We have about 60 friends we know for sure will be there! Hope to have loads of fun tonight! Then tomorrow..shopping for reception stuff at the local warehouse surplus store! have a great weekend!! |

Make over tonight
I went to the M-A-C store tonight and did a trial run for my wedding makeup. I was really happy with the way it turned out. I took two pictures..sorry about the lighting...I was taking them with my cell phone. But I think you can get the basic idea.

Family discussion...
Happy medium may have been found
Ok..so last night we all sat down and the table and had a long family discussion. There was no yelling, there was a few tears. Everyone aired how they felt. Basically, my future MIL said that she would move because we are a couple and family and she is able to move and take care of herself. I NEVER suggested she move...it was her suggestion. HOWEVER, for the time being things will remain the same...with the economy the way it is, it's no time to move. The boys also talked about how they felt....they feel like I am mom and my FH is their stepdad and we are the ones that should correct them, not her. They had some valid points...however, I did point out that she is an elder and if she says something you do it. I also explained to her that she does not have to yell at them to get something done. Also, my FH being an only child, she is not used to multiples and what goes on with having 3 boys so close in age. My FH told her..."Unless someone is bleeding out, broken an arm or house is on fire. LET IT GO" LOL!! I had to laugh about that one. My FH has 3 girls that are 11, 8 and 4. So we are going to have A LOT going on in our home at all times.

I don't know what to do....my future mother in law..call of the wedding?
accidentally deleted...mother in law drama
First..let me say I am totally in love with my FH. When we first started dating he told me that his mom lived with him. I didn't think anything about it...never realizing that we would move in together or much less move in together. Well...fast forward...we did move in together..I honestly didn't think it would be a problem. But, I was wrong. We did move in together...me and my boys 16, 15 and 10. Now the house is a split level ranch with room to spread out, including a finished basement (where I spend most of my time now).
My future MIL is an abled body adult. She has no handicap, mental incapcities, etc. and just retired. My FH is an only child and she has made him her life. His parents divorced when he was 8. He saw his dad every other weekend, etc. His dad passed away 4 years ago and my future MIL still bad mouths him like he was alive. LET IT GO ALREADY! I think now that my FH is 37..it's time for her to move on. I moved out of my parents house when I was 18 and I haven't been back. Nor, would my parents want to live with me (being abled body adults). I feel like I am living with my parent again. She yells at my boys..which makes me really mad. Then in turn I vent to Ed...I don't say anything to her because I was raised not to disrespect my elders. She is driving me crazy! When Ed isn't home I stay in the basement or in our bedroom watch TV, etc. I feel like a prisoner at home. I'm beginning to resent being there and her. I told Ed today that I thought we should postpone the wedding and the me and the boys should move out. His reply was NO..we can get through this and work it out. But, I don't see how. I feel awful that I feel this way...I DO REALIZE this is his mother. Had I had any thought or inkling that I would feel this way i would have never moved in with him to begin with. My boys love him so much, as do I. I am so confused I don't know what to do. Thank you for the previous responses. If you don't mind reposting them I would appreciate it...I accidentally deleted the post when try to reply (the links where overlapping). Thanks...hope things get better I don't want to lose him. :o( |
