So of course we got cameras for the tables. I went with the silver heart ones. $30.00 for 15 of them...

Wedding Dress
Maggie Sottero
Since I wasn't sure about my original dress purchase, I decided to book another dress shopping appointment during a Maggie Sottero trunk show! I absolutely fell in love with a new maggie dress, so I am so happy that I went!
The only problem is that since the dress is from the new Fall 2008 line, I have to wait until April for it to arrive. Doesn't that seem like such a long time? Especially since that doesn't leave a lot of time to get the dress altered and to see what accessories go with it!! Is it normal to have to wait so long for a dress to arrive? |

ENGAGEMENT PARTY
We had our Engagement Party this past Saturday, exactly 364 days before our wedding. My father hosted the party and he did an amazing job. Everyone had a blast, even though it rained intermittently. We all stayed pretty dry under the tents.
We played a fun game that my BM organized called "Family Fued." Basically she asked questions about the couple and a member of each family would have to anwswer in a "face off" against each other. There wasn't any winning or losing, it was just to break the ice and get people talking. It worked really well, and it was a lot of fun and laughs. |

PRODUCTIVE WEEKEND
We booked three vendors in one weekend!
This past weekend we were able to book three vendors!
-Our decorator: Decorations for Celebrations -Our wine maker: Simply Great Wines -My dress: Bridal Wreath I have mixed emotions about the dress though. I love the dress, but I really didn't get to try on any of the ones that I have been looking at online for the past six months. Bridal Wreath only had a few dresses to choose from, and I kind of feel like I just got caught up in the moment and just purchased the best one that they had, not necessarily the best dress. I am excited, but at the same time, I am a little disappointed. It was my first time dress shopping, and I brought my mom, my sister (MOH) and my grandmother. We all had a really great time, but I just think that I may have jumped too quickly. Before the appointment, I had decided that I wanted to buy a Maggie Sottero dress because there were about seven of her dresses that I absolutely loved. Unfortunately, Bridal Wreath did not have any of them. I ended up buying a Sincerity Bridal dress. It was only $860 including taxes, but I was willing to pay much more. So now, here I am second guessing my decision. I have only put $50 down on the dress, so I am wondering if I should go out and try on more dresses, and if so, who do I bring? |

ENGAGEMENT PARTY
Our Invitations
We mailed our Engagement Party Invitations last Wednesday, and people have already RSVPed! We invited 66 people, including children, which we kept strictly to close family and the wedding party. My father is hosting the party at his house. He has a really nice backyard, so it will be a "Backyard Garden Party." It will be catered with hor's deurves, not a full meal. And LOTS of drinks since 50% of the guests will be Newfoundlanders! This will be the first time for Quinton's family (Whites/Parsons/Andersons) to meet my family (Lukewichs/Johnston/Sims). I hope it goes well!

FAVOURS
Green and Pink are extra
It turns out that I can only order my favours in three colours. Purple, green and pink. So that means I will have to order three times as many as I need, and try and sell the green ones and the pink ones.
I can only hope to sell them to try to recover some of the cost. They cost $1.00 each (plus tax.) Is it worth it for me to still get these, or should I just try and look for something else?? |

Ceremony
Central United Church
We found the perfect church to get married in! I love it.
We had planned to go "church searching" all day Sunday. We had about five or six different churches lined up to see, but as soon as I walked into Central United Church I said "This is it! I love it!" It is located 2.17 km away from our reception hall, Southshore Center. The church has big windows so its very bright, and they best part is that it has a center aisle! The minister is very nice, and he's a Habs fan too! Unfortunately, he usually takes time off in July and August and he won't be able to marry us. They have a replacement minister come in and handle things for two months. I am hoping that once he gets to know Quinton and I that he'll want to come back for a few days to marry us! Wishful thinking, I know! Another option would be to have my step-dad's brother marry us since he is also a minister. I will have to call the church secretary to make arrangements. |

Alyssa Alkema
We have booked our Photographer! My MOH and I met her yesterday at Starbucks and we signed the contract. I am so excited!
She photographed a friend of my sister's wedding in December, and when I saw the pictures I was very impressed. I contacted her for prices, and it turned out that she was a little on the high end of our budget, but not too far out there. So we set up an appointment to meet yesterday evening. As soon as she walked in and said two words I knew that I wanted to hire her. She is so nice and pleasant and her work is outstanding! Here is her website: www.alyssaalkema.com We signed for her cheapest package, but I am going to try to convince everyone (my father and Quinton) to upgrade to the next step up which includes a beautiful photobook. Is it strange that I already have a photographer but no ceremony site yet?! |

Favours
Picture Frames
We have ordered our favours. I was so shocked when I found exactly what I was looking for so soon! And the staff were so helpful. She will be ordering 160 for me, and they should arrive by next month!
We plan to wrap them in ribbon with a thank you tag attached. We will have the thank you tags printed and personalized for free thanks to Palaimon! Oh, and the other plus is that they are half the price of what I was planning to pay for favours! I figured $2.00 per person, but these are only $1.00 (plus tax.) I guess we'll have to pay to have 2x3 pics printed, but that's really cheap. When all is said and done, we're looking at probably $1.50 each! |

Church
Ceremony Set Up
We went to see our Church last weekend. It was really nice, and the minister was young and current, and he had a beautiful, young family. We loved it. (And by we, I mean my MOH and I since Quinton wouldn't go!) The church is perfect..........except for one thing:
There is no center aisle! There are three sets of pews, so there are two side aisles. I really pictured walking down the aisle to the altar in the center aisle with Quinton's family on one side and mine on the other. I don't know if I can get over it. As a result, I am going to investigate other churches in the area. If I don't find anything else, than I guess I'm going to have to settle for a side aisle entrance and departure. I hear that its common, but its just not what I pictured. |
