Ask a Question
Jack and Jill...WHO HAS HAD ONE, OR WILL HAVE ONE???

Im curious to see who has had a Jack and Jill to raise money for their wedding?? Or who will have one before the wedding??
We were thinking about doing one, Chris's Best Man lives on a farm in the middle of nowhere and has lots of space for cars and stuff. But Im not sure if tis worth it... We were thinking of like money for unlimited keg beer, and then do games and toonie tosses and stuff..

Was it worth it for your wedding or do you think it will be worth it?
(also, is it tacky???)

Update:: The internet says that "Traditionally, a Jack and Jill was a great way to have a pre-wedding party while raising money for the engaged couple. Example: the wedding party would book a location and charge invited friends $5 for tickets to get in. The money would then be given to the couple. Another idea would be to have raffles during the party or charging for drinks (if you're hosting the party at a home, for instance). Invited guests usually included both males and females. "

Jack and Jill's are VERY common in the area i'm from. My MOH is planning one for us. I don't think it is tacky.....but I think if the bride and groom planned it that may be considered tacky. I think it will be worth it for sure. Most jack and jill's I've been to have raised 2-3,000 dollars.

Okay.. I just looked it up online. I don't know of anyone who's had a couples shower but I like the idea because I've been to many showers where I knew very few people and it was an awkward atmosphere.
I'm still confused about the money though. Is this in leiu of gifts? When my uncle got married, they had a 50/50 raffle(the winner ended up giving them the 50% he won anyway) and also a raffle for scratch off tickets.

They way I understand it kellyjaxn is that some people can bring gift but mostly people just pay like an "admission". So then the admission could include like food or beer or something like that. The way your uncle did it sounds good too ontop of admission you can do a 50/50 draw and a toonie-toss(See who can get their twoonie closest to the huge liquor bottle they get to keep if their twoonie is closest and then you get to keep all the twoonies... i guess this only applys to canadian brides.. lol)

I think i will probably go for it, my MOH was planning on doing a Jack and Jill as a suprise but I guess its not anymore. lol
