We have had several dinner request and invites from our friends. Almost all of our friends know one another and all of them were guest at our wedding.. I suggested to my husband that we have 1 big dinner with everyone. I was thinking about reserving the restaurant where we had our rehearsal dinner and sending out invite's for everyone to attend. I am talking about 8 couples. 9 including me and my husband. I will create and invitation on evite.com and email them out. Informing all the couples about the dinner, time and place. I will also include in the invitation that each couple will be responsible for their own meal including gratuity. I was telling my husband that if we do it this way then we can cure all the dinner request in one setting. AND SAVE $$$. He does not think that it's a good idea. He is concerned about people only communicating with who they know. And he thinks that it will probably end up being a "clique" type event. I am thinking that all these people are mature and they know how to mingle. I am talking ages ranging from +40 to 60 years old. And they are collectively coming to dinner with us. My younger sister is trying to buy a home. She emailed me stating that she was depressed because she is having one hurdle after another with the process. Well she is set to close on her house this week and she does not have the money for the closing cost. A little history about my sister. She is one of the most s elfish people you ever want to meet. She does nothing for no one unless there is something in it for her. There has been numerous times that I have came through for her and each time she has given me her ass to kiss in return. I have been married for 8 months. I asked for her and her 16 year old daughter to be in my wedding. She accepted then2 days before it was time to pay the deposit for the dress she sends me and emai stating "I don't want to be apart of no wedding". Well this truly hurt me because as i said I have been there for her numerous times, when she got married 7 years ago and ran out of money to finish paying for her wedding i stepped in and helped her with the cost of completion. (she is now divorced) And after the wedding was over we had a GREAT big disagreement over her paying me back. Needless to say we stopped speaking over that for a long while. Anyway not only did she back out of my wedding, several people came to me with emails telling me how she was talking about me and my FH. (remember I moved from Ga to HK with my FH). I was pretty angry with her and I did not invite her to my wedding. Well she crashed it. My wedding was invitation only, not only did she come to the wedding but she took a place card off the table of someone that did not show and she invited herself into our reception dinner.Never did she say congradulations, the wedding was nice, or anything. Well now she emails me acting like nothing has ever happened and she asked me to lend her $4000 for the closing cost on her home. She said that she will pay me back in Jan when she gets her student loan. (she works fulltime and is a fulltime student) I talked this over with my husband at great lenghts. and I told her that I could not help her, that I was not working and I could not lend her that large amount of money. Then she emails me back stating that she borrowed the money from someone else but she needed for me stand with a check for her at the Closing attorny office and she will deposit the money into my account. Well my thought was if you have the money why can't you just put in into her account or have the bank issue her a cashier's check. she told me t hat the lender told her that the money could not come from her bank account. Well I have never heard of this, so again I told her that I could not do it. That I was sorry that it's not personal just business and I had to protect my assets. This is just a senerio that I found while surfing. I WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD ME THIS. Here is the senerio. My friend wants to photograph my wedding -- bake my wedding cake --do my wedding flowers. It would save a ton of money, what should I do? -- the bride with a ton of good-hearted friends. Oh, the dear, sweet offer from a friend! They practically beg you to please, please let them bake your cake, do your invitations, make your bouquet, or take your wedding pictures. They say to you. I've done it myself and it's not that difficult DON'T DO IT! (You will almost always resent it. ) Friendship is an extremely valuable commodity. In fact, it is priceless. And just as you shouldn't borrow money from friends, do not borrow on your once-in-a-lifetime event. The stakes are too high. I promise you, somebody is not going to be happy about it. Either, your friend is not going to perform up to your standards and you are... A) going to have to compromise your original want or B) say something and risk ruining the friendship or at least having a negative confrontation OR, even worse your friend is going to resent the heck out of you, your demands and your utter lack of appreciation for their hard work. And, let me tell you, the only payment worthy is not a dinner out or an expensive bottle of wine... it is cold, hard cash. So you might as well pay them right up front. Deal done. Our wedding was April 26,2009 in Savannah GA. We secured a wedding photographer,(Cobblestone Photography), interviewed the photographer, recieved a contract, paid for the pictures as stated in the contract, pictures were taken at the wedding. Well it is almost 4 months since my wedding and we have no professional wedding pictures yet. I have sent numerous emails to the photographer, most of them have gone unanswered. When she did answer she said that she had been sick and in the hospital with "complication from diabetes" She promised to upload the pictures that evening and send a link for us to view the pictures. That was about a month ago. And we have not recieved anything. My husband recently called her and spoke with her about the pictures, she appoligized, offered us a free photo session, and promised to upload the pictures on a site that day and, send us a email to the the link and also promised to put them in the mail to us. That was a week ago and still nothing. I have since tried calling her again and even sent several emails with no response. I and at a lost now, I don't know exactly what to do about our wedding pictures. I have emailed her every day, pleading with her and almost begging her for our pictures and she won't answer my emails. I have also emailed her partner, which is her sister. still no answer from either of them. I have even asked a family member to go by her studio and see if she could pick up the photos for me, but each time she has went there, no one has been at the studio. So what do I do? My husband says that since we live so far away (we live in China) all we can do is wait, hope and pray that the photographer will take the time to send our pictures. I am so upset about this situation, I have been crying for the past 3 days because I want my wedding pictures. I really don't know what to do. I did a google search to see how long it takes to get professional wedding pictures and what I found says that pictures should be uploaded within 3 days and you should recieve professional pictures in 7-10 days with the longest time being 3 weeks. I checked the contract and to my surprise there is no time frame as to when we are to recieve the professional pictures. It has been 4 months, since my wedding and still no pictures How much longer do I have to wait? Her behavior on WEtv's "Bridezillas" was so whacked out that it actually violated her parole, and now she's facing jail time. Karee, who is on probation for a fight she got into in high school, says she was just "acting" and doing what the producers told her to. Unfortunately, her probation states she's not allowed to "behave in a threatening manner," which pretty much makes an appearance on "Bridezillas" a ticket to the slammer. She says she was hoping the show would allow her to showcase her acting skills (cough!) and make some money to pay for her wedding. She's retained a lawyer who claims she was misrepresented, so she may see some cash after all. I am not really quite over them yet. I cannot seem to shake them We had a really nice wedding. We went way over budget, I would say that it was a grand affair. But, no problem cause that's what we envisioned. I was really bothered though by the fact that people showed up enjoyed the evening, spoke about how nice things were and did not even bring a card, less more a gift. I had several people promise me that they were going to send something and sent nothing, Now they are trying to avoid me. Several people to RSVP for themselves and also extra guest (which we had to pay for there meal ) and not show up or they came and not there guest. Keep in mind I called these people to make sure that they were indeed coming. When I told one of the girls to tell her husband that we missed him at the wedding she told me "he did not feel like getting dressed to come" This cost us money. This was a seated dinner and each plate was paid for in advance. Maybe people didn't realize this,or just did not care. We had people, that not only did they come with no gift they wanted to take away our flowers and decorations. I had one person to break one of the vases trying to get the flowers. which she did manage to get them, left the broken glass and took the flowers anyway (my husband was sooooo mad at me cause she was one of my childhood friends) I wouldn't be so bothered by these things if we had not hand picked our guest carefully We wanted an elegant affair and we only invited selected people. Our wedding was by invitation only. We invited, family, life long friends people that were close to us, people that have been apart of our lives for a great length of time. People that whenever they call on me or my husband we were there. And these people we knew could afford to bring/give something. I am talking people with good jobs and even college degrees, lawyers, politicians, high ranking military personnel, teachers etc..... I know that this economy is crazy, and its not about the gift but they could have put something inside a card or just brought a card. Now don't get me wrong the people that gave they gave generously. we were able to purchase all our china selection off our registry, with no out of pocket expense. But what about the others, we made allowances for people to come that we had no intentions of inviting. But when asked could there family members come after we went over the RSVP list we said yes. They also came empty handed. Then one of the guest had the nerve to send us a graduation invite for her son, and she did'nt give us anything "I don't think so" One guest(a family member) came right out and told us that she was not getting us anything. (I was 38 hot with her) We even had people that were not invited at all, not only to show up to the wedding but also enjoy the cocktail hour and then take place cards from the guest table and invite themselves into our reception. One person (a family member) even had the nerve to say to my Mother that our cake "tasted store bought". I was PISSED cause we had a CUSTOM MADE CAKE that was created by the best baker in Savannah. I told my mother that her ass was so use to eating "store bought cake" that she did not know good cake when she taste it. And don't let me get started on how our MC and one of our bridal attendants just tried to take over and do what the f--- they wanted to do Needless to say I did call them after the wedding and had a nice long talk with them. Of course they tried to lie there way out of it. Then they appoligized but the deeds were done. I just wanted them to know that both my husband and I were not so caught up in the moment that we did not see everything that was happening. Again don't get me wrong, its not about the gifts or the card, its just the principle. This is situation really haunting me. I have prayed and ask God for peace with this but I can't seem to shake it. I told my husband that I want to write a letter to each and everyone of them telling them just how I feel. HE says no, to just let it go. ]]> Market Place - WBC Web Sale http://www.weddingbycolor.com/westkar/milestones/67622 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/westkar/milestones/67622 Wed, 17 Jun 2009 08:23:00 PST Wedding dress for sale.
