Cake Topper
Just for fun...
Ok so this is kind of wedding related. I was looking at cake toppers and I came across this picture of the initial cake toppers and it brightened my day because it seemed like a very funny accident on someone's part. I hope someone else sees this picture and gets it as well and finds it funny. I would not want this on my wedding cake! LOL I don't wanna be thinking this right after I say I do. Glad those aren't our initials!

HORRIBLE WEEK!!! (stupid ice and the government)
Ok, so I know I said it wasn't wedding related and it's not entirely, but it actually kind of is. So my lease was up on my small apartment last month so my FH and I decided to go ahead and get our post weddingn 2 bedroom a couple months early. We started getting my stuff ready to move last Friday (when they told me I'd be able to...) but then they kept putting me off. I wasn't actually able to start moving until Tuesday. Between 2 jobs and school it's nearly impossible for me to move during the week. I moved what I could but I live in southern Oklahoma. As many of you have seen we had a horrible ice storm. Well, Thursday I lost my electricity at both apartments! So here I have two apartments, neither with heat! I finally got my electricity back today and skipped school to try to hurry and get moved to avoid paying an extra month's rent on my small apartment. To top it all off... I did my taxes today. I recently started working a second job to save more money for the wedding. Well it turns out that the government decided it wants to screw me! I am a broke college student working 2 jobs and going to school and they are telling me I owe almost $2,000 dollars (that is money I needed for my wedding! my budget was only $6,000). I have no idea what to do. I am so bummed and I'm just sick over this. But, on the bright side... I finally have heat in my apartment(s). On the not so bright side, I was one of the last in my city to get power, but the surrounding smaller towns may still be without for another week, and we have another storm coming this Thursday I've been told. Bad news for Oklahoma. It's so sad 75% of all of the trees in my town are destroyed 50,000 households out of 90,000 people just from my town were without power (not including the surrounding towns). It's awful! Driving through town it looks like a disaster zone. Houses and cars ruined by trees, fences down from the weight of the ice, power lines everywhere, huge oak trees completely out of the ground roots and all. It looks like a tornado came through before the ice... Its crazy. Keep Oklahoma in your prayers.

Ask a Question
DIY queens, I need your help.
I am looking for someone possibly with a small business who is able to make this! If not, I am looking for someone who could let me know how to make this. I really love this headpiece and veil but I only found it in Europe and it's sold out. I'm pretty crafty but I'm not sure where to start and I don't have a lot of time. HELP.

Ask a Question
Fake Cake?
I am back! I am a senior in college graduating May 7 and then getting married May 15... And I work 2 jobs... so needless to say finding time for blogging is difficult! But I have a question! Has anyone heard of styrofoam cakes for the reception? Basically its styrofoam covered in fondant so your guests think its a real cake but then they carry the cake to like a kitchen or back room to cut and serve but they actually are serving an easier to make but much tastier cake? The top layer would be real for us to do our cake cutting thing but the other would be styrofoam. My baker told me about this option and I'm considering it since fondant is kind of gross tasting but i have to use fondant on my cake to make it look the way I want. Anyone heard of this? What are your thoughts?

Ask a Question
How much is too much?
Ok so I found the place I want to get married and they are available on a date very close to my original date. It is a chapel/reception site about an hour away from where I live. This place is beautiful and includes everything except flowers and a photographer and of course clothes. The total for the site and all would be about 8,000 dollars and I found a photographer and it would be about 2,000 dollars (photos are very important to me). Our original budget was 6,000 dollars so as you can see after dresses and tuxes and all we will be about doubling that. So... the question goes to those who've gotten married... Is it worth it? I've heard both ways. I would have to take out a loan to help pay for the extra since my parents can't afford it. And to those who aren't yet married... How much are you spending on the wedding total and on the photographer? I feel like a bridezilla because I've been searching for a location and when my FH and I found this one we both said... THIS IS IT... and now I don't like anything else I see. I need either some reassurance that I'm not crazy for thinking about doing this or some common sense telling me that yes, in fact I am crazy and not to do this! lol HELP me figure out if I'm sane!

The Post Engagement Blues
Ahem ahem... pay attention to me!
Ok so this is me being a baby... I just got engaged 3 weeks ago and am very excited. I'm very involved in my church and my college campus and always have been.. Well another girl and guy from my church just got engaged and they're getting way more attention than me on campus and at church. I know its silly but I'm feeling really bummed because I feel like everyone is more excited for theirs than they are for mine. I know its silly but why can't I have just a little bit of thunder without someone always stealing it.... To top it all off one of my friends approached me to ask who my briday party was and I had to inform her that she wasn't in it because I could only have four but I'm her MOH in her June wedding. But this was hard to only have four because I have six best friends that I love and have been in soo many weddings (seen the movie 27 dresses? that was me... BM, MOH up the wazoo over the past 3 years) and now I'm having mine and people are upset that I was in their wedding but they're not in mine. And I feel like my friends are competing with each other to see who will be my MOH and BMs (which are already chosen and final). Why does such a happy time have to cause so much stress and why can't I just have people be happy for me... I just want to cry... I'm not all about attention but for once in my life I WANT SOME ATTENTION!!! I'M GETTING MARRIED FOR GOODNESS SAKES... That's all I ask. Can I please get some attention :(. Am I acting silly? Does anyone else ever feel like they've become invisible... LIke the day of the engagement or the week after when everyone's finding out... Then the attention fades and gets put on someone else... it's kinda sad. I guess it doesn't help that my FH and I had a little fight today... Oh well! On a good note I picked my cake and my friend the baker is doing it for free as my wedding gift! YAY! Too bad I'm not on a wedding diet or cake would sound good right now to make me feel better!!! Grr for feeling sad and not being able to eat cake because diet or go emotionally shop because I have to save money for the wedding... Maybe that's why weddings are so stressful... NO MONEY + NO FOOD=CRANKY!

Wedding Dress
Lunch break dress buying!
So... I know it seems crazy but it's just what I do. I got bored one day so went looking at dresses at a store here in town. I ran across the dress that I always wanted... Like a modern Grace Kelly wedding dress or something. I fell in love. I tried to call my mom and of course NO ANSWER. So I called her later that evening and told her about it. That next day I was still thinking about it. I called her on my lunch break and had her meet me there. I tried the dress on and it fit (I was afraid it would be way to big! Thank goodness for European sizes) and only needs a little altering. Its a Maggie Sottero dress. We decided this was it. So we went to buy it and found out its a discontinued dress so they had put it on sale the day before for.... $150!!!!!!!!!!! My mom and I decided this dress was meant to be! Yay more money for the cake or catering! Yes I am crazy, yes I'm probably the only bride who only tried on one wedding dress... But hey, I view wedding dress shopping like I do my future hubby. When you know, you know.... So why waste any more time! What does everyone think??? (ignore the green bra straps!)

Ask a Question
Location, location, location
Ok... So I've decided that I will have the ceremony at my church. However, I would like to have the reception at a different location. What does everyone think about ceremony and reception being at different locations. I know the closer the better, but in this town we're limited... How far is too far to have a guest drive from the ceremony to the reception?
