Ask a Question
Is anyone else planning a wedding that is a bit quirky?
I want to have a fun and unique wedding and my fiancee agreed. And I thought what better way to have that, then at the bowling alley?

To give you a bit of background…
Steve and I met at a bowling alley back in January of 2007. We both were on a league, just on different teams.
Some of my friends decided to add me to their bowling team. And of course I didn't know until last minute, but decided it would be fun, so I went. And there is where I met the man of my dreams and then some!

So I thought, why not have our wedding at the alley? Of course my mom will not allow me to get married there, but what a great place for a reception?

Is anyone else planning on having an unusual wedding or reception?

First of congrats and welcome Chicagoland bride. I'm from Chicago myself.

I think if you know this is what you want then you should go for it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with having a unique wedding.  I think it's kinda romantic to have it at the place where you met.......if we did that, we'd be having ours in my grandparents living room!

Jared and I have chosen a local ski resort lodge for our reception.  Jared loves to ski and the Fall will be so beautiful as well as going great with our Fall theme colors!

By the way, we are getting married on the same day!!!

I think it's a FANTASTIC idea.  We are doing a sorta different wedding too; we met biking in Italy, I proposed to him in France, and now we're doing an Italian themed wedding in the park 2 blocks from our house.  Immediate-family only ceremony (which as been an issue with some extended-family!) and then a huge pizza party at the boathouse, in the same park.

Your wedding should be how the two of you want it.  Don't let anyone try to change your mind if that's what you want.  It's the day the two of you will never forget!  (I love your photo of the bowling alley aisle!!!)

Happy planning!
