We've decided to pursue a more "Classic Alice" look rather than Disney's animation version and the upcoming Tim Burton one (very excited for that)
While we are not overly fussy about decor and will be keeping things simple our yard is very colorful so what we do chose we want it to be cohesive.
The shrubs, flowers and trees provide much of the decor all ready, we'll dress it up with some white twinkle lights and hanging white and blue lanterns. Signage indicating this way and that way to direct guests to the backyard and festivities is a must.
We'll be having one long table covered in a pale blue table cloth surrounded by odd and unmatching chairs all painted white. We have been collecting these from thrift shops, the side of the road and our neighbours contribute as well. For the bride and groom we have Pink arm chairs that will be set up centered on one side of the table. Luckily the groom is willing to use Pink chairs since I already own them in and use them in my office, its one less thing to buy and they will stand out!
Three cupcake towers will mark the ends and center of the table, between them all two rose topiaries and two small vases of pink roses. Of course the cupcakes will have Take One labelled somewhere perhaps a toothpick tag of a sign on the very top of each tower. Favors will be homemade shortbread cookies heart shaped that say Eat Me.
For dishes we have decided to use our own and collect what we can from thrift shops. To keep a cohesive look we will be using white, blue and gold solids and patterns.
In the back corners of our yard we are setting up lounge areas for our guests to sit and be comfortable. We will set up a chess set or two guests can play. If we had the room we would set up croquet. FH is still trying to map out the yard to see if it is possible even to set up a small course, if not we might use croquet as an engagement session theme.
I compiled this board using paint and the paste from feature, other Alice boards didn't quite capture our vision. More of a classic high tea with some fun whimisical touches here and there. Very excited to see it come to reality!
