BACHELORETTE!!!
Amazing Night!!
This past weekend was my bachelorette and it was fabulous!!!
My MOH took me to have my hair styled at this cute salon and then we met the rest of the girls at a very up scale hotel. We all went for diner at a very posh restaurant and the final stop was a nightclub in Toronto. The night was amazing, I was definitely spoiled!!! The only crappy part was that my MOH lost her camera at the end of the night and it had all the day & nights events on it :(. |

Buck & Doe
The best night ever!!!
Our Buck & Doe was back in June and it was a Blast!!!
We had the best night, couldn't have asked for a better turn out. We were nervous about having one at all but it all worked out in our favor. We had approximately 350-400 people come out and support us. Gotta love a small town where everyone knows everyone. We had such a fantastic night with our friends & family! We live two hours away from my family so we had 30 people camped out in our house and backyard, we even had a porta-potty, lol! It was a very busy household that day and I personally loved it!! The only crappy part was that my brother who is also a Groomsman is only 18 and wasn't able to attend...so we had a few beers for him!!! We made some good money to boot :) |

Centerpieces!!
These are the centerpieces we have chosen to go with!
Our Parents attended a wedding on new years eve and these were the centerpieces they had. I ran into the bride and told her how much I loved them and she told me I could have all of the vases and battery operated tea lights that she had left over. The best part is that the main component of the centerpieces are branches...meaning their free!! Collecting them will be the guys job ;) Im guesstimating that the total cost of the extra vases I will have to rent and tea lights I may have to purchase should end up being under $100, and that's for 22 tables...WooHoo! I couldn't be happier with my choice, we are planning all of the decor around the beautiful centerpieces! |

Bridesmaids
Chose their dresses!
We finally picked out the girl's dresses, yay!!
It only took one store and a whole lot of dresses to try on but we found it! It will be the exact same clolur as in the picture. They should be here in a few months, I cant wait to see them again! I also threw in a couple pictures of my little sister trying on flower girl dresses, she loved being one of the girls :) |

SHOES!!
Wedding shoes...
I found these pumps way back in may, when I was looking for shoes to go with a dress for a friends wedding. I ended up buying another pair but I couldn't get these shoes out of my head.
I loved them as soon as I saw them but...my finance is only a couple of inches taller than me, so wearing 4 inch pumps on our wedding day just wouldn't feel right. I found the heels online on boxing day for less than half price!! So I HAD to buy them :) I figure I'll take my before ceremony pics with these shoes and wear a shorter heel the rest of the day. |

Wedding Cake
Different from anything I've ever seen...
I went to a local wedding show over the weekend with a couple of my girls and saw this wedding cake. In a pervious post I explained how my fiancé is totally against having a wedding cake because he thinks it's a waste of money and nobody ever eats it.
So when I stumbled upon this unique piece I thought he might just go for it. This cake is a hollow chocolate mould filled with tons of candy!! It's like a candy bar, just done differently. Instead of cutting the cake we will smash it with a hammer! I thought wow this is so different and I'm willing to bet not to many people attending our wedding will have ever seen anything like it. And having to smash it with a hammer is kinda cool seeing as my fiancé is a carpenter, so it's kinda like a little part of him went into it! Needless to say when I told him about it and showed him the picture's he was all for it, yay!! |

Bridesmaids
Meet the Wedding Party!!
I have finally finalized my wedding party!
My Maid of Honour has been my best friend since we were in the first grade, I couldn't ask for anyone better to be standing next to me on one of the most important days of my life! One of my bridesmaids has also been a really close friend since grade school, and the other two girls have become my best friend's since moving to the small town I now live in. They are the wives of my fiancés best friends. We have become really close over the last few years and I consider them to be life long friends. We have shared the joy of each others wedding's together, and will hopefully share the excitement of starting our families together someday! My fiancés groomsmen consist of his two best friends, his only brother, and the oldest of my three brothers. We are thrilled to have so many people wanting to share our day with us. We couldn't wish for more loving and supportive family and friends!! My little sister Caroline will be 8 years old and she will be our ring barer, and my adorable little cousin Jordan will be 2 1/2 and she is going to be our flower girl!! |

Honeymoon
We would love, love, love to go out west for our honeymoon. Lake Louise or Whistler would be ideal, I can't believe how much more expensive it is to travel within your own country.
I want to go white water rafting and zip lining but we might be going to late in the year for rafting :( So many people say that the mountains and lakes are so beautiful and breath taking that I want to see it for myself. My fiancé and I did the whole Mexico thing last winter and I'm not really a sunbathing kind of girl so we think a fall trip out west would be fantastic! |

Wedding Decoration
I haven't decided if I want to go all out on the fall decor or a more spring look. I know I'm getting married in the fall but all along I've wanted subtle aspects of the season incorporated in our day.
Now that I'm seeing more brides on here and in magazine's with fall themed wedding's I'm falling in love with the idea of pumpkins and gourds and everything else that comes with the fall! |

A few ideas...
These are some ideas I've found that I really like. There is something about almost every one of them that I would change, whether it be the colors or the wording but at least I finally have a starting point!

We're getting a puppy!!
We bought our first house a year and a half ago, and since day one I've been bugging my fiancee to get a dog. We agreed that spring 2009 would be perfect timing to get a puppy. Well spring and summer has come and gone...
To our surprise, a few weeks ago our neighbour (who knows how badly I would like dog) told us about 2 litters of puppies for sale. Friends of our neighbours have two female Golden Retrievers (the kind of dog we want) that had a total of 19 puppies! I was immediately super excited, we went to see them and they were so small and adorable. Over the next couple of weeks my fiancee warmed up to the idea of having a little furry puppy around the house. He is the practical one that worries about having enough time for a puppy and now our freedom is limited, but he eventually came to the realization that we were ready! So last week we went out to the farm where the puppies are (it's only 5 minutes away so we can visit as often as we want until he is old enough to come home) and chose OUR puppy. We put a special collar on him to signify he was taken! We have lots of friends and family anxiously waiting to meet our little man. We can't wait until Sept. 20 when he finally gets to come to his forever home! My fincee and I can't agree on a name, I like the name Charlie... Any suggestions?? |

Just for fun!
How long did you date before you got engaged?
Almost 4 years Did you get the ring you wanted? Yes-he picked out the ring, and I fell in love with it! Was the proposal a complete surprise? Yes & no Mark was acting unusual the night he proposed so I had a feeling it was coming! Did you cry when he proposed? Yup Im a very emotional person Where do you want to go for your honeymoon? We would like to go to Whistler, British Columbia! Are you buying his wedding band for him? Of course! Have you gone over your original wedding budget? Not really, he would like to spend nothing if possible haha What day of the year will your wedding be? Saturday October 16, 2010 What kind of weather? Hopefully sunny and warm Inside or outside? Inside Church/justice of the peace/other? Catholic Church How many people will be there? Our guest list keeps growing, were hoping to end up with around 175 people Time of day? Ceremony starts at 3, cocktails at 5:30 dinner to follow Any kind of theme? Soft & romantic How many bridesmaids? Who would they be? Havent decided yet. I have asked my 2 best friends and I cant decide who else to ask, Its complicated. MOH - Best friend, Bridesmaids 2 or 3 of my girlfriends What kind of cake/what will it look like? I would like a 3 tiered round cake with dark purple ribbon around each tier and flowers on top! Where will you have the reception? In a beautiful banquet hall a half hour from the church What kind of dress will you have/color/material? Purchased already! White strapless taffeta, with minimal beading and a short train nothing too poofy. What kind of flowers in your bouquet? I dont know yet, I love peonies but I dont think their in season in October. So I might go the traditional route and have roses. Kind of engagement ring? White gold, 3 stone emerald cut with diamonds in the band Kind of wedding bands? I like the white gold bands with diamonds set inside and most likely a plain white gold band for him. How will you wear your hair? Half up with lots of soft curls. I really like the look of the headbands that tie behind your head, and a veil tucked underneath Who will be important to be there? Everyone - family & friends. Will the reception be big or small? Average size What will the groom wear? Black tux hopefully. He keeps fighting me on this subject, he would like to wear a black suit. I'm sure I'll win the battle! How old will you and the groom be? I will be 26, he will be 24 (he will be 25 in December, Im not that much older than him, lol) How long will you be engaged before you get married? 22 months, it sounds so long but 7 months have already flown by! Live together before or wait till married? Living together Take a long time to plan the wedding or will it be simple? Were taking our time. Theres no rush so we figured we would take our time to save money and since the wedding will be held where I grew up and where my family lives, 2 hours away, its going to be hard to plan from a distance Will you do it yourself or with family or hire someone to plan the wedding? Do it myself, with lots of help from family and friends! Will you write your own vows or use something pre-made? Im not sure, Mark would like to write our own vows but I think I will be to emotional to get through them It might be easier to repeat after the priest. |

Wedding Reception
This is our venue
Our reception will be held at the West River banquet hall in Vaughn. It is a beautiful hall, and the most affordable!
The only downflall is that it is a half hour away from where the ceremony will be held, some family members have voiced their opinions on this, but it's my day and there are plenty of hotels in the area. We had looked at a couple of other places but as soon as we saw this one we knew it was the "one". (I can't believe the amount of money they expect people to put down as a deposit, and if anything is to change you loose it all!) There is a garden that we are able to use for pictures at no extra charge which is a bonus. Doors open at 5:30 when appitizers and drinks will be served, and the bar is open for the night! Dinner wil be served around 6:30, (whenever we decide....I haven't worked out a time line for the day yet but I'm assuming 6:30 will be the perfect time). Linens are included which is awesome, they only have white and ivory to choose from but I can work with that! Where ever you can save money right :) They also have an adorable bridal suite with my own private bathroom and lounge, I don't know why but that excites me! |

Wedding Hair Style
I feel more comfortable with my hair down, but can't make up my mind on exactly how I want it to look. I'm wearing a veil so my hair will have to be pulled back slightly so the veil can tuck underneath.
Ok these headband things I've been seeing everywhere but stores, Where are you brides finding them? I first saw it on "Say yes to the dress" and have seen them in soooo many pictures but I didn't see any at the store I bought my dress from. I haven't really looked all that hard yet, due to the fact my wedding is still over a year away. I'm nervous about ordering from the internet, I've had bad experiences and don't turst it. I would love to wear one in my hair the day of the wedding! |

Wedding Cake
I'm not sure if we'll even have one...

The Proposal
Sweet & Simple...
Finally, after nearly 4 years together and buying a home Mark asked me to be his wife!
We bought our first house together last sping. I kept telling him that we wouldn't be spending christmas together unless there was a diamond on my finger, lol. We had been to visit my family recently and unknown to me, Mark asked my father for his permission. The week before christmas Mark and I had a quiet romantic dinner together at home and he very sweetly asked me to marry him! I had to wait a whole week until I could tell my family on christmas eve, the expressions on everyones faces and the tears were well worth the wait! I can't wait to start planning & go dress shopping!!! |
