How many is too many?

Ok, I have a situation where I would like 8 bridesmaids. My fiance and I have talked about our bridal party and we would like 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen (including maid of honor and best man). We love our friends and family and the people we would like to include have all played a special part in our relationship and our lives. I couldnt imagine celebrating our marriage without all of them. However, I'm nervous that there will be too many. What do you all think? Is 8 too many? Also we would like two flower girls and one ring bearer...the number keeps growing and growing...lol

the number of attendents really depends on the size of the wedding.  If you're only having 50 guests, that probably is alot.  You can always find other ways to involve your friends without them being in the bridal party.  We have 6 on each side and have a wedding guest list of almost 400.

I can honestly say that I thought that it was to much....cause they took FOREVER to come walking out.....

But it is your day and if you have that many people close to you than I say go for it!!!

girl please!  We have 8 girls and 8 guys...I originally had 12 girls but the church said that they started to limit the party b/c it takes too long.  Go for it!

I was just having this same problem. I wanted to have 7 and 7 but I kept thinking it was too much. Then I realized this was our wedding and these were our close friends that we couldn't imagine not having stand with us. Don't worry what anyone else will think, it's your day! You don't wanna look back on it with any regrets.

we have 8 BM's and 5 GM's. I've had crazy organizational things go on since I have so many...but it doesn't help that 3 are out of state. if yours are all in-state, then I'm sure it'd be easier for you as far as coordinating everyone! I wouldn't take it back though...it means a lot having all my girls up there with me :)

Chris originally wanted 7 groomsmen & 7 bridesmaids. I bitched him out from here to next week about it. I can't imagine dealing with 7 girls and trying to organize them all, regardless of how much I love them. Not to mention the fact that you have to buy them all gifts etc and that takes up a lot of money- so you lose out on spending the money for something else, or spending more on each of them. Also, we wanted a smaller wedding so 7, would've just looked really odd in comparison to our crowd. Hell, even the 4 that we're having will probably look odd in comparison. I managed to convince him to have 4 attendants each, and the other 3 could be involved by being ushers/hosts etc. The general rule for bridal parties is 1 attendant for every 50 guests.

How many guests will be at the wedding?

If you are having a small intimate gathering of 50 then you will have a wedding party that is 32% of the guests.  Might not look so hot.

It will all depend on your guest list.

Have as many as you wish- I am having 4 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen.. that includes MOH. One flowergirl and one ringbearer...It really is what you feel comfortable with,

we are having 7 bridesmaids and 5 groomsmen, and only 100 guests. I know there's some kind of rule about the number in your bridal party vs. the number of guests you have, but who really cares? The wedding police aren't going to come get you. And quite frankly I would have to roll my eyes at someone who attends your wedding and is more occupied with the ratio of bridesmaids to guests than paying attention to YOU. As far as it taking more time, what's an extra 20 seconds in the grand scheme of things? People expect weddings to be long, drawn out and boring, nobody's going to complain. Don't regret leaving some of your closest friends out of the most important day of your life just to meet some quota, or to make your pictures symmetrical! Do what you want!

as far as attendant gifts go, I found a great deal on a star-shaped (part of our theme) basket filled with a bunch of candle stuff and aromatherapy  for only $5 each! So it only cost me $40, plus probably $10 for gift bags....so $50 total. don't let something as small as gifts put you off of having more bridesmaids. my FH will be buying his GM's gift cards (he only has 5).

Im glad im not the only one who feels a little stressed by the thought of so many in our bridal party, but you're right! This is our day and even if we only had 50 guests show up, these are people who mean alot to us and we wouldnt want anyone else up there!
