Shades of blue
Shades of blue

Wedding colours
Fighting and loving the blue

If I were to start over, I would definitely pick another shade of blue than I had picked, which is in-between light teal-light pool-baby blue.

I am crazily carrying my invite with me everywhere I go now, in order to try and match it to my decor at least a lil bit. Believe you me, I am not looking for the exact shade, it's freaking impossible, but I want to keep the colour scheme intact to a certain extend.

In other words, my advise to myself of several months ago, would be, "Pick sky blue. Pick Tiffany. Don't pick light teal-light pool-baby blue".

I still love the blue though. To me, blue is sky which means freedom and endless possibilities, as well as soothing and nourishing water. I am in awe with the blue actually.

And, having expressed my feelings in words (totally understand why people blog now), I would not change my wedding colours a single bit. They are perfect as they are!

I know how you feel, I was trying to pull off a peacock thing, and I just COULD not make the blues work.  A lot of the bridemaid dress blues are too bright or saturated!  I finally gave up and went with a soft orangy pink! Good for you for sticking with it!!!! Good Luck!

I hear you, it is not that decor does not come in that colors, I think it has to do mainly with what is in season or popular. I had the hardest time trying to find the shade of vintage/dusty rose pink - the year after the wedding I couldn't get away from it lol

Blue is a beautiful color non-the-less, glad you have embraced it even with all it's difficulties and headaches ;) Good luck with the hunt for remaining decor etc!

Thanks for support. I don't like to vent. But I got home yesterday with 4 bottles of spray paint all in different shades of blue and none of them in my blue :)) That got me thinking :))

The Pantone Wedding swatch book is a great colors book that you can select hundreds of colors and give samples to family, bridesmaids and vendors.

I hear ya!
I picked a blue at Davids bridal called "POOL"
Now this blue just so happens to be the hardest blue colour shade to find anywhere!
I ended up decided to go with the damask (black and white) theme mainly and just have touches of the pool color here and there because it is so hard to come by.
My bridesmaids ended up picking out black dresses with the pool color sash's, and the groomsmen will wear black tux's and a pool color tie. My FH and I will not be wearing any blue. (well my garter is blue but he doesn't know that :)

I think many brides know how you feel. We want that PERFECT hue of color that speaks to us you know? Thats unique and then it kicks us in the behind after.

Try finding orange? lol Halloween was great for me because I could actually find things, now bridesmaid dresses are proving to be very DIFFICULT. I want ORANGE, not burnt, not peach, not tangerine or Clementine (though that's the closest I've found) It's horrid and stressful.

I FEEL YOU! :)

Aw, I think your color is great!  I know it's a hard color to match.  We have a sky blue, but our girls dresses are Robins Egg Blue (Alfred Angelo).  It looks like sky blue though.  It was the closest I could get to matching our wedding color.  I think it'll still look great though.

I looooooooove blue by far my favorite color, I love how you express your definition of blue as something immense and endless, same reason why we picked it up. And totally understand what you mean when we were thinking about our colors i had a very clear turquoise in my mind, and then I could easily see the tiffany blue, but then I thought it was a bit greenish and went to turquoise again but the one that is closer to blue than to green (if you know what I mean) i think it would be closer to the "pool" shade hehehehe beautiful color but sooooo many shades heheheheh. Great post
